I also noticed the standard efficient and friendly service I have come to expect at other locations. I liked the free air and the competitive gas price outside. Access from westbound 95th street is not the best, but that's a small qualm. Overall, excellent!

The store is immaculately clean and even though the parking lot looked fuller, it didn't seem busy inside. Most of the shoppers were elderly people. The carts are nice and ergonomic it seems. There was a woman collecting carts from the outside and continually bringing them inside. It seemed darker in this store compared to Walmart and HyVee but everything was very neat and the produce section looked very fresh and neatly displayed. The beef section was more limited and I feel like the butcher would continually bring out a new product as people purchased some. That was what I was there to primarily buy. The rest of animal protein was displayed like other stores. The aisles were wide and neatly organized. They don't have as much selection as Walmart (food) or HyVee but it's a nice neighborhood store. I only saw the butcher, deli worker, shop cart attendant and a woman working the self serve area though. The parking lot is kind of a negative because it's shared with many other businesses in a strip mall so it's hectic.

However, today a very…read morekind lady named Kristie (I believe) helped me and for some reason, the coffee was not ringing up the advertised perks price, despite her putting my perks number in manually and then trying to scan it. No matter what she did despite her efforts it just wasn't working. There was an issue with the system. She kindly asked for some help to fix it from another employee named Krista (I believe) and she couldn't seem to be bothered and just acted as if Kristie didn't know what she was doing. So, Eduardo (I know this is correct) came over and very rudely and condescendingly kept saying things like "she (referring to me) is not a perks member" and Kristie said, it says right here she is. I showed him my card ( I have been a member and registered with the new setup as well for over 6 years at least). Kristie informed Eduardo that this is the 3rd or 4th perks member that hasn't worked so far this morning. His response was "Well that's a corporate issue, not mine." Instead of trying to help the situation he was acting like we were wasting his time and were idiots. He then had her change the price manually and told her "Let's not make it more complicated than it is, ok?" I could not believe he was talking to an employee this way! How freaking rude dude. I know in most places you're not supposed to change prices without managerial approval, for obvious reasons. You could tell the way Eduardo spoke to Kristie brought her down. I was so mad because she was doing her best and being as kind as she could be about the situation. This is why good, kind employees dont last because of Eduardos. Before I left I told Kristie, "I don't think you are making it a bigger deal than it needed to be at all. He seems very unkind and rude, really a j@ck@$$!" She smiled and thank me for being kind and patient with her today. I hope her day doesn't continue to be a nightmare because of this jerk. In a world full of Eduardos be a Kristie! I will be calling corporate, this is workplace verbal abuse and I truly hope Kristie finds a better more kind place to work. At other gas stations that take rewards cards (like Quik Trip takes Price Chopper rewards cards) you have to slide the actual card. Well I prefer to carry the little key fob thing not the actual card. If I carried all my rewards cards my purse would weigh 50 pounds! So thanks HyVee for solving this little thing and making my life easier! I used to not shop at HyVee often enough to earn gas discounts on my rewards card but now that I've discovered the amazing HyVee at 95th & Antioch, I'm there more often and the gas discounts add up. The HyVee gas station located right next to the 95th & Antioch store has several pumping stations as well as a great convenience store. Almost as good as Quik Trip- high praise!

All of which I take my medicine for. I assumed the gas station would be aware of the mental health community here, with the section 8 apartments down the road that I live in. We'll I was shocked. I was having a minor episode where I found it hard to control the volume of my voice. Somebody got the wrong idea because they complained, I was told. This was a very minor episode I thought. I thought I looked passionate about life, in a colorful way. Maybe people at 63rd and Pflum aren't used to any liveliness of any sort, which blows my schizophrenic mind. Or maybe some low-life thought he had a shot at looking better than me for a split second, so he could act like he gets to judge me, and the attendant bought it. Whatever the case, I was addressed as if I was in the act of robbing the store at that moment. Keep in mind, I like to talk about my schizophrenia to people because I feel like it helps me. I told this attendant my name, diagnosis, and therapy animals name, in passing, over the course of regular visits during the prior 4 months or so. So I thought we were almost even friends. This attendant may have just had a low iq or something. This is actually a problem for me. My iq is higher than 99% of people. When someone has a significantly lower iq, there is almost always a communication breakdown. Maybe I was talking in complex thought when I was having a hiccup of an episode. Maybe the complainer didn't even understand what was going on. A PTSD trigger is a tricky thing to avoid. Coupled with having to say my thoughts that my voices are concerned with loud enough for other people to hear my thoughts with my voices, said. That's the only way I can figure out how to get them to calm down. I have to share very uncomfortable thoughts out loud all the time. It's not my favorite part of my mess of a life. But it's the only way I know how to survive in my condition. This particular attendant decided to try to intimidate me first. Then talk in short abrupt sentences like I ever threatened anyone. I never did. I simply had to explain a trigger to a friend. In my conversation I felt like the voices needed me to be loud enough otherwise they would have been on top of me. I was willing to apologize to anyone. I was coherent enough to stop raising my voice. It's just my typical day. I would have turned the voices off a long time ago if I could have. I really thought I was getting along with this guy until he was so brash and bullheaded with me. I don't think this man had a clue about mental health. I only walked my dog to that store multiple times a week for the past 4 months or so. I don't know why they hide the 24/7's but this was the cheapest pack of cigarettes I could find in the area. I'll be spending the extra 7 cents to go to the Vape Time liquor store behind Burger King, now. Not the Kansas community feel I've grown accustomed to growing up here. Overland Park's police department explained to me that my condition is OK. I don't have to live in an insane asylum. It was the O.P. police department that proved to me the times really are changing. Mental health awareness is spreading. It just hasn't seemed to me to have made it to this particular gas station. Now I'm wondering why I would ever consider shooting any respect this gas station's way ever again. They'll just try to exploit my good nature next chance they get all over again. Why did I waste all of my time believing in community at this gas station? I wouldn't recommend this.
