We stopped into this particular location for dinner. We were told we could see ourselves anywhere we liked. The restaurant was clean and the service was good and friendly, and attentive. The pizza was generally pretty good. The location of Minsky's on Southwest Boulevard seems to be the best though. We had our typical large gluten-free jumbo combo. read more

We've eaten at this location once as well as order a pizza to take back to our hotel, which is perfect for our tired, hungry soccer players. Well it's been about seven months and we decided to give our local Minsky's another try. I'm not really sure why I was convinced it would be better, and I'd be met with decent service and a good experience, but I thought I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and unfortunately this spot is just not it anymore. I will say that in general I really like Minsky's pizza. It's a solid pie, with great flavor, and IMO is a KC icon when it comes to pizza. The issue here is with this location and the service/ food quality. We recently ordered delivery, and I'll start out by saying that Minsky's is not a cheap pie. I'd say it's not unusual for a delivery order to be around 40/50 dollars for a pizza and an appetizer. I don't mind paying the premium for a better than average pizza, but when you get your order and it doesn't live up to basic expectations it's really just not acceptable, especially at this price point. Our last order was a large papa minsky's pizza and an order of cheese sticks. Our kiddo is deep into her cheese stick era so I was dismayed when I got them and they were completely inedible. If you know me, I'm not one to exaggerate on this kind of thing. We opened the box they came in, and someone had literally piled them all on top of each other, with cheese and sub cooked pizza dough just all over the place. It had congealed into a mass of bread and cheese, and as much as I tried to get something that looked like a cheese stick out of the mass, nothing I could create looked or tasted enough like the real deal for anyone to eat them. They ultimately ended up in the trash. As for the pizza? It was OK. The flavor was there, but once again someone had taken a THICK stack of pepperoni and placed it about 10 'ronis deep all over the pie, and it just felt like nobody took any time to think about how this pizza was bing constructed. The sad thing is that we get consistently better service from Marcos down the street, which isn't locally owned, and is a massive chain. We will probably keep going there for the time being as Minsky's just tends to let us down time and time again. read more

The food itself was pretty good. The pizza had a nice flavor and is cooked to a good consistency. If I rated Minsky's just on food I'd give it a 4.5. I had to cut back the rating a bit due to the costumer service. I placed a to go order and came to pick it up a little over an hour before they closed. When I walked in it wasn't busy. I was taken back to have the server at the front watch me come in and say my name and grab my food and say "I'd ask but it's obvious" he seemed annoyed to get an online order. He was very unfriendly. People do have bad days, while working in the food industry I can relate but customer service leaves an impression and I wouldn't want to make someone walking in feel unwelcome. read more

But then after I ate my pizza, I decided it was necessary to save others. The place is small but deep. If you walk into the restaurant the seating goes far back. The staff is very busy taking care of to-go orders. We dined in. Ordered one large pizza, half Marghetita, half Canadian bacon and hamburger. The Margherita pizza comes with sliced fresh tomato, basil, garlic, mozzarella, and ricotta. There wasn't any ricotta cheese on my pizza. The pizza dough tasted like a homemade pizza with cheap products. I don't see why this place is so popular. I got one slice of tomato on each piece of pizza. The tomato on my pizza was one small tomato, that was the size of a 50 cent piece. Not only was the tomato small and sparse, it wasn't even ripe. The beer menu is weak. Would suggest a wider variety of draft beer choices. You either had a hoppy light beer, a hoppy,hoppy light beer, or just a light beer. Nothing dark, nothing medium. The young guys working tonight seem to be busy with a lot of chatting and unnecessary behavior. I really don't care to hear how much their tip was from a certain table or how a customer behaved at their table. I certainly don't want to see them goofing around and acting the way they did. If it wasn't for the kindness of the waitress, I would have given this place one star. Her name is Trinity. If you ever do decide to come here, please ask for her. Four of us had lunch here on a Thursday about 11:30 am. There was plenty of seating, and service was prompt and polite. We started with a double order of hot wings. Now I am a wing connoisseur, so I generally know what I am talking about. These wings were average size - and spicy. Not ridiculously spicy but more than mild. They are not breaded - and I prefer them not breaded. A ranch dressing accompanied them. We ordered two pizzas. One was a traditional crust "prime cut" which is basically an all-meat pie with hamburger, pepperoni, American and Italian sausage and slices of bacon on top. What's not to like about that??!! The other was the same pie but a thin and crispy crust. The pizza was really good - cheesy enough to help cut through all the protein! Our server was on top of drink refills and clearing finished plates (wings). They have an expansive menu of specialty pizzas along with lots of apps, salads, and sandwiches... and even pastas. They have several locations in the area. This was my first overall visit, but I would try them again without hesitation. read more

This place was great but the reason for the star rating is strictly the price! This was so expensive! After a long day of soccer we got back late to the hotel and pizza sounded amazing. We wanted something that was just in this area since it's fun to try new things. I asked if they had any specials and that was pretty much a no. So we just ordered. We got an order of wings, cheese bread, one medium supreme, and then a large pepperoni. It was $68! We have had a ton of pizzas from other places and this was the most expensive so I was anxious to see why. The conclusion is i have no idea. It wasn't anything special but it was good. I don't even have a lot of words to describe the tastes because it was just well, basic. They did well on cheese and veggies and meat portions and the chicken wings were very tasty. Minsky's is one of my favorite pizza spots in the KC area. If not for the price being a bit steep, I would be a regular here. This location is tucked in a shopping center near 127th & Metcalf, and can be hard to see if you're whizzing by without knowing where the restaurant is located. Seating space is somewhat limited inside the restaurant. However, I love ordering online with Minsky's and then picking up when I'm ready to eat. If you haven't tried Minsky's in the past, I suggest getting the prime cut pizza on honey wheat crust. You won't be disappointed. read more

The only reason I am not leaving zero stars is because Minsky's is the best pizza in the KC area. However, my family does not recognize this location as a Minsky's restaurant. Not only do they consistently mix up orders, they also fail to fully cook the pizza. Ignoring the disappointing cheese/sauce to dough ratio, the fact that our order ticket has been "lost" the last two take-out orders we have gotten. Pizza is pizza, and always "good." But if the restaurant is poorly managed or the staff is predominantly careless high school students, then disappointing service is likely to happen. I highly recommend Minskey's. We were staying at an AirBNB around 3rd and Delaware for several days. We used these crossroads as our base to venture into KCMO for our adventures. We would frequently seek out restaurants in the area before we returned to our Air BNB for the night. Unbeknownst to us, the Minsky Pizza chain is celebrated as KCMO and KCKS top pizza yearly. We ordered the Minsky special as it was a Thursday special across the corporation. Wow, this has been some of the best pizza we have eaten across America. Yes, the St Louis with the extra spices and cheddar cheese blend hold a nostalgic tug on my heart, we can see how this pizza is a love of the KCMO and KCKS populous. So last night I tried a small (10") wheat thin and crispy crust Combo pizza and I've got to say, this Minsky's has become my favorite pizza place here in Kansas City!
