Good bar with an excellent beer and sandwich selection. The burger is well done, and the mac and cheese is extremely smooth and cheesy.

Went here with some coworkers for our monthly meeting. Food was average but not outstanding considering the price we paid. Place was loud. Seating was very tight and restrictive, I personally got bumped by the same waitress four times as she tried to fit her rather ample body through the slight space behind my seat. Overall, I would not recommend this place as good bargain or excellent meal. I doubt that I will be making a return visit. read more

Went to Casey's at 5pm on a Saturday and had a 30 minute wait for a booth. If you get her any later on weekends, you could be looking at 45 minutes. Food was very good. The 10+ onion rings were huge, but a bit too greasy for me. The wings (with hot sauce) were on par with other AA restaurants. The fish and chips were delicious - big portions of fish and a crunchy batter. Had a couple of sierra nevada beers at $4.50 a glass. Service staff were very friendly, but the meal itself was slow. If you're not in a hurry, you'll be fine. Overall - will definitely become one of my local hang-outs (prior to 6pm, most likely!). read more

They call me the town drunk here as a joke, but sometimes when I'm there it's true. I love their staff, the food and of course the atmosphere. Every Thursday I come by mid shift and buy all of my employees carryout and have a few drinks while I wait. The staff has always been helpful and you gotta love a place that makes sandwiches better than you do for yourself. Casey's Favorite, Sixth Man, or the club, those are my favorites. Pub food and decor with a local twist. I love the burgers. The food is classic pub for, mostly done well and sometimes excellent. Knowing that it's pub food, I've never been disappointed. One of the best pubs in town for a beer & burger, especially while waiting for the train across the street. The staff is very friendly and very attentive to your order. The bar area has plenty of seats and the bartenders are quick to make sure your glass is always full. The pub is a little bit outside of of all the typical businesses in the restaurant district but it's worth the trip. read more

The railroad makes this place. Since the Historic stone Railroad station of Ann Arbor was taken over and turned into a fancy person place Casey's is the only joint where you can eat near the railroad and enjoy yourself in an unpretentious atmosphere. The service is good but when crowds fill the place it slows down a tad. The burgers are excellent. The fries not as good. The only nearby restaurant ( way back when) was a black owned and managed place up at Summit and Main, a super cool tiny lunch place that had a marvelously stacked Wurlitzer Juke full of rythmm and blues and soul music ( c.1966) alas that disappeared decades ago. Casey's is in the running for the best down home restaurant in town. And its so close to the tracks that the Jackson train can be heard over the music inside which at dinner is too loud. read more

Casey's Tavern was conveniently close to the University of Michigan BLUE golf course. So after our 18-hole round we drove there to wash away our sins and enjoy some food. This was at 5:30pm on a weekday so parking was fairly easy. Two of us enjoyed the metered parking across the street in the train station - 2 hour limit. Once inside, the greeter wasn't overwhelming with helpfulness. Our group was given the choice of a table or a booth on only one side of the pub. I don't know why she wanted to save the other half of Casey's... there was no one sitting there but one couple. Anyway, we got the far back booth and were out of the mainstream. I was thirsty - no complaining at this juncture. The server was good. Our drinks came fast. Everyone but me got Fish & Chips; I opted for chicken quesadilla (mediocre; friends must have known something I didn't). Casey's kinda reeks of tradition so this being my first visit I didn't "get the program" but my friends did so I rolled with it all. All in all, Casey's was for me a bucket-list type place. Tell friends about the fact I drank and ate at Ann Arbor's Casey's and I'm sure they'll be smiling. Probably worth the visit but it's standard eating. read more

probably the best bar/pub in town, definitely my favorite. it's a very pleasant place, totally not trashy or nasty (like ashley's). pretty decent specials, good menu, and nice beer selection (they have anchor steam!). the food isn't dirt cheap, but it's reasonable, and the fish 'n chips is excellent. another thing i like is that they don't pile on huge portions of crappy food that fill you up in a disgusting way; the food is just the right amount and pretty good quality. i was pleasantly surprised by the clam chowder, which was actually real clam chowder, not just salted heavy jiggly cream most other places serve read more

Pretty cool old place in Ann Arbor. Delicious onion rings. I was afraid of their size since I'm the guy that tends to take big onions out of onion rings and just eat the coating. These onions were sweet and delicious. My burger was fantastic and reminder me of a family burger BBQ. It's small inside so I'm not sure how busy they get. A solid three-star kind of place. I liked the vibe at Casey's -- I was there with my brother on a Saturday evening, and the other patrons ranged from groups of college kids to couples to families with young children. There are a surprising number of decent-sounding veggie options on the menu, and the meatless joe over jalapeno cornbread (served with a side of fresh cantaloupe and strawberries) did turn out to be a treat, as other reviewers have said. We met a friend half way in A2 for lunch and decided on Casey's. Neither of us have dined here before, but we decided to check it out because the menu fit most of our likes. Well we decided on burgers all around. Terrific choice in my opinion. 7oz burger made the way you want with the toppings you choose. This burger was cooked perfectly. It was very juicy and delicious. I opted for sautéed green peppers and mushrooms with Swiss cheese cooked medium, with guac and mayo on the side, it's .75 for each additional item. The burgers are served with steak fries and there's malt vinegar on the table if you choose. The only down side to Casey's other than it being small, is the PARKING. Uuggh if you go at lunch, you can park down the road a block or so across from the Gandy Dancer and pay roughly $3 in quarters for two hours. If we are ever in the area again, we will stop in for the burgers. Thanks so much Casey's, oh and our server was fantastic and the drinks were poured wonderfully. read more

I keep forgetting about this place and then I drive by and think "Gee I haven't been to Casey's in a while, I really like that place." I am not much of a bar person, so although I've had a beer or two there with a meal, that's not the reason I like Casey's. I go for the lunch items, the pleasant atmosphere and nice service. As others have indicated, the fish and chips are really good, And the burgers are too. They do serve some nice sausages from time to time and as I recall, they favor the Usinger's sausages out of Wisconsin. I mentioned all the good things about Casey's, I guess I should mention the minor annoyances. First, ti's a small local place. So at lunch time there often is a wait for a table. I guess that is one of the reasons I just don't automatically stop when I am driving by. The second problem is the parking. There is parking, but not enough and when friends and I have arranged to meet at Casey's for lunch, at least one of us has had a hassle finding a parking spot. Gandy Dancer is just down the street and I wonder if this contributes to the parking issue at lunchtime. I haven't been there at dinner and can't comment on that but Casey's is great for what it is. It is a nice little Ann Arbor Gem and it is off the beaten track so unless someone tells you about it, you probably wouldn't just end up here by accident. read more

I had pretty much written Casey's off after a barely mediocre experience a couple years ago, but since my office moved to this area and the choices for lunch are few, I decided to give Casey's another shot. Boy, was I glad I did. While this review is based on one good experience, first impressions are everything to me, so this second impression made quite an impact. As I said, I was there for lunch on a Friday, and it was busy but we got a nice booth right away. Our waiter wasn't overly friendly, but he was quick and got the job done. And when the food came, it was really, really good. They are known as a good burger joint, and since I don't eat red meat, I opted for the turkey burger. For $8.50 you can get a beef, turkey, or veggie burger with up to 3 toppings (I went with bacon, guacamole, and blue cheese), and fries. The guac tasted homemade, very fresh. The burger tasted very fresh as well, and it was huge. I was sufficiently full when we left. My coworker got the salmon salad, which she was regretting after seeing some burgers go to different tables, but she said it was delicious and was happy with her choice. It was also huge, enough for her to get a to-go bag. I am so glad that I gave Casey's a second chance; I knew there had to be something to that place if it was able to stay around in such an obscure location. I think it's amusing how many people complain about the wait and number of people who frequent the establishment. Hello...You wait because this place ROCKS!! If it was bad people wouldn't constantly be here to eat and drink. FYI - they do have call ahead but you have to check-in within 20 minutes of your phone call. All of the food is excellent and the service is fast and generally spot on. In fact, the Casey's Favorite is my husband's fav meal - if he could have one meal before dying this would be it. They also have one of the best burgers in town. Just keep in mind, you are going to a "tavern" and not a fancy restaurant and the atmosphere and prices reflect this. Great atmosphere. This place is almost always packed, whether it be lunch or dinner. As a result, the waitstaff can be a little overwhelmed at times and service can be spotty. The food, a step above the standard bar fare, is universally good. The (very small) bar area is often elbow-to-elbow so you can't help but talk to those around you - a sign of a great pub.
