Typical Moose Lodge. Nothing even remotely worth looking at. But ... awesome tacos on Tuesday nights! And after all ... tacos are life

I discovered, The Lounge because I arrived super early for a wine tasting at another business in the plaza. My friend and I were immediately won over, when we saw the bar dog. Her name is, Lucy. I liked that the front window is tinted so you cannot see in, but once inside you can clearly see the outside. If you like to play slots while you sip your inexpensive cocktail, The Lounge has about 4 or 6 machines for you to play. If you do, good luck. Best of all, the drinks are super affordable aka "cheap". The bartender was friendly to us being newcomers. Seeing the rest of the patrons at the bar and every stool was full, you could tell they were regulars at this neighborhood watering hole. If I'm ever back in the area, I'd definitely stop by for a cocktail.

There is a generously sized bar and with a few high top tables along the side wall. There are several slot machines if you're interested in trying your luck! The bar offers your standard fare of beer, wine, mixed drinks and shots. They offer a few prepackaged snacks including chips and nuts. We were able to order a small pizza. They offer the Dog Town frozen pizzas. These are among my favorite pizzas. And it paired well with the ice cold beer. Our bartender was friendly and made sure we were taken care of.

Craft Beer - Chicken Wings - Tots…read more I'm a fan of Global Brew Tap House. In my opinion, they have the best wings in Edwardsville and beyond. I've tried multiple sauces and cannot pick a favorite, because they all make my tastebuds dance. Pairing the wings up with a cold craft beer and a side of tots makes for a great lunch, a treat for Happy Hour and a super dinner. I am a stickler for the quantity of my flats and drums being the same and GBTH always serves me matching numbers. The wings are always good sized, crispy and meaty. Again, they are the best wings I have had on the Eastside of the Mississippi. This August they are doing, Pawgust. When you buy a craft beer from Alaskan Brewing Co. a $1 from ever beer goes to Gateway Pet Guardians. I drank an extra beer on my last visit and I will make sure to go back a couple more times during August. I like it when I can eat, drink and raise monies for a dog charity all at the same time. I always sit at the bar and the service is attentive and friendly. If the bartenders are friendly, I can only assume the table servers are equally as good. If you want wings and a craft beer, Global Brew is where you need to go.

The cocktail list is solid, and the beer selection is seriously impressive, packed with a great mix of local breweries and unique options. There's also a nice outdoor seating area, but honestly, the magic of this spot is at the bar. The atmosphere there really brings everything together. One of the coolest touches is the large display of vinyl records, it adds a ton of character and gives the whole place a unique, almost nostalgic energy. We didn't try the food this time since we just stopped in for drinks, but it's definitely on the list for next visit. Looking forward to coming back and spending more time enjoying this gem of a spot.

But the bartender was quick and the food, mac and cheese, came out in no time. The winter sangria was a serious drink. Not a punchy, fruity sangria. This was a winey sangria. It was a pretty serious drink. I'd probably get a weaker, sweeter drink next time, because that is my taste. The mac and cheese was pretty good. Quite hot! It came packed in this little bowl. I felt so cozy here... It made for one of my preferred eating out in the city in winter experiences.

We arrived a little after 11 and found a space in the back parking lot. The lot is convenient as it's pretty well-lit and is diagonal from the CF. We entered through the back where the deck is and walked right in. Upon first glance, you'll notice the hanging lights above the entrance and then after a few feet, the bar is immediately to the right. The tables are all along the left side as to make a walkway for the bar (super convenient). Due it being their anniversary, it was a bit crowded but not too bad where you couldn't get a drink or walk through. My usual go-to is a flavored vodka (three olives grape) and sprite. While they had a plethora of spirits, sadly this wasn't one of them. They had other flavored vodkas but I opted to get a simple Cosmo while my friend got a makers and coke. The Cosmo was just what I needed and might I add, well made! After we got our drinks, we did a quick walk through of the other side called The Oddities (coming soon), as well as the upstairs that overlooks the entire place. The stairs are steep, so it would behoove you to hold on to the railing. While I love trying new places, I was a bit apprehensive because I thought I'd stick out like a sore thumb. Turns out, everyone was friendly, the drinks are great, and the music wasn't bad! They had different acts going on for this particular evening (I'm not sure if this is the norm), but I know my friend is a regular on Tuesday's for karaoke. I do intend to come back and try out some more drinks and food and check out the other place once it officially opens.

I stopped in before a show at the Fabulous Fox and immediately felt like I had wandered into the glamorous after-party of opening night. The space is stunning -- gold arches, dramatic lighting, and just enough sparkle to make everyone feel like the main character for the evening. It's theatrical in the best possible way. Now let's talk about the food because yes... I fully committed to the menu. The lobster nachos arrived like they had their own spotlight. Rich, indulgent, and piled high enough that the table next to me started asking what we ordered. Definitely not subtle, but absolutely delicious. The Manchego and chorizo croquettes were crisp little bites of perfection -- salty, savory, and the kind of thing that mysteriously disappears from the plate while you're mid-conversation. We also ordered The Tuxedo flatbread with truffle and parmesan which smelled incredible the moment it hit the table. Light, flavorful, and just fancy enough to feel like you're treating yourself before the curtain rises. And the Wagyu sliders? Juicy, messy, and worth every napkin. The bacon jam alone deserves its own Yelp page. But the real star here is the champagne and cocktail program. This place understands that a night at the theater deserves bubbles. The drinks are festive, beautifully presented, and perfectly matched to the whole "opening night energy" vibe of the room. Service was fast, friendly, and clearly tuned to theater timing -- they know people are heading to a show and they keep things moving without making you feel rushed. Overall, Curtain Call Lounge is exactly what a pre-theater spot should be: fun, a little glamorous, a little indulgent, and full of great energy. If you're going to the Fox, do yourself a favor and arrive early. Grab a drink, order a few plates, soak in the atmosphere, and start the evening like you're already part of the show. Because honestly... by the time we left for the theater, the night already felt like a performance.
