As you will see from my previous reviews I do like this place and tonight the food was just as good. Service was a bit of an issue though. The wait staff are all very friendly. I don't envy their job of trying to get so many people served in such a short period of time before the show starts. That said, I wonder if management might consider things to make the job more efficient. Our waiter had to have 2 large gadgets (think iPad and satellite phone size) in order to check us out. The food, service and ambience was charming. My date and I stopped at the restaurant after a show. We had the best waitress. Very attentive to our needs, make suggestions... and I loved every one of them. Since we weren't very hungry. ( mainly wanted to wait out some of the show traffic) She actually suggested we share a salad and have a couple appetizers. Which were all very tasty. Especially the dry roasted chicken wings. We were nervous about the timing because the show was at 7:30pm and we didn't end up arriving to Curtain Call Lounge until about 6:30pm. However, we had no problems! They know they're on a deadline at this restaurant and the service was great and speedy. We decided to share an entree and get an appetizer to share. We went with the Brussels sprouts and were shocked by the serving size. They were delicious and we could've filled up on the Brussels sprouts alone! We shared some fries and the steak sandwich. It was delicious. Since we still had time, we went for dessert before the show. The peanut butter pie was to die for and we finished the whole slice! Everything was great. The restaurant is decorated in theme with The Fox and everything is glamorous and looks like you're in an old Hollywood film. We were in no hurry to order and Deon, our server, never pressured us to hurry up, which we appreciated. He gave honest feedback on food questions we had and was very funny with the comebacks. Well aren't you just a pleasant and super convenient surprise inside the Fox! Byzantine-inspired, Curtain Call Lounge was the first champagne bar in St. Louis. It had an extensive list of champagne and bubbly. What we got. Goat cheese dip - who else is sold on gooey things served in a cast iron skillet? gooey and perfect! Summer Strawberry Goat Cheese Salad - was huge and refreshing! We had to get the Ahi Tuna Salad. It was amazing too. I loved the sauce this came with. If fries is on the menu, they will be ordered. I decided to eat here before the MJ musical. I didn't have a reservation but luckily I could sit at the bar. I was ecstatic to see they have two short bars stools for people like me who don't like tall chairs! Chris, the bartender, greeted me with water. He was amazing the entire time I sat there! This is such a fun place to bring people when going to see a show at the Fox! They are only open around showtimes, so it doesn't look like their hours are listed correctly. The menu is very simple and scaled back. They don't have a ton of options because the food comes out very quickly. There is something on the menu for everyone. I've tried a bunch of their items and have never been disappointed. They do a really good job of getting everyone out of the restaurant before Showtime so you won't miss the start of the show. Another one of my favorite things about this place is that they have specialty cocktails that are in conjunction with the show that is currently at the Fox. This is a super unique way to incorporate what's showing! I will say the service sometimes can be a little slow because they are busy. I've had some times where are drinks come out after our food. And sometimes it seems like the waiters don't check on you enough. However, I still have not had a bad experience here. Everyone I bring always loves it! The food was very good....especially the brussel sprout appetizer. The best part of the evening was the lovely woman Named LYDIA who took care of us during dinner. Curtain Call is a beautiful place to visit when you are headed to The Fox. A meal or drink at Curtain Call before a show is very convenient. On show nights Curtain Call opens at 5:00 PM. Once you are inside Curtain Call there is a special door into the Fox Lobby, you never have to go back outside. Service has always been wonderful. They know you are there until the show begins so you are not rushed. There are always multiple people working each table. Favorites are the Spinach Artichoke Dip, Hummus, Fall Salad, Caesar Salad, and Cheesesteak Sandwich. This is by far the best food around the Fox Theater. This is a really great place to start your evening to The Fox. Located directly next door, this space is elegantly decorated and gives you the feel of being inside the Fox. They offer a full menu and full bar. It's apparent they employ professionally trained bartenders as my drink was spot on. I didn't order food on this visit, but what I saw coming from the kitchen looked to be very good and I'll definitely make it a point to try is in the future. The curtain call has changed their menu up this season and on Saturday night after a show at the Fox I ordered the Pomme Frites (crispy shoestring potatoes | truffle salt | powdered duck fat | aioli). Yes these are just French Fries. These French Fries, however, were perfectly cooked and the truffle salt, powdered duck fat, and aioli (I don't even eat mayonnaise) were so delicious! The last time I got food to go and eat outside in Grand Center because they had no table or bar space available. They somehow spilled marinara in the box but there was no cup of marinara, but there was an unspilled cup in my friend's, and the person who got me marinara did not extend any regret for the matter (she didn't make it, but still...). They were incredibly busy that night, so it doesn't affect my opinion of the place. I do not recommend the cheese appetizer -- it may have been a baked brie. It was soaking in a buttery liquid but far too stringy to easily separate and eat. The black and white cheesecake is as tasty as it is elegantly presented. Blueberries, strawberries, and blackberries surround it and are covered by chocolate sauce. Whipped cream on the other end. The cheesecake was rich, dense, filling, and deliciously cold. There's a lot of space downstairs that I imagine they open up for events or perhaps on weekend show nights. Give this place a try next time you are going to the Fox or Powell! Some of the best chicken wings I have ever tasted and that says a lot. The pizza was enough for two. The prices of their food is in line with most any restaurant in todays climate. We were attending a performance at Kransberg and did not take advantage of being able to enter the Fox without going outside or the ability to order a drink that would be ready for us at admission. A nice touch if you are attending the Fox. If you are planning to eat here before attending the theatre come early we arrived after 5 pm and it was already crowded but you can linger over your dinner and drinks. We never felt rushed. This place is a great first stop for a night at The Fox Theatre or any other destination in Grand Center. If you've got tickets for The Fox it's attached entryway is fabulous on an icy winter night. The cocktails were created to pair with the show at The Fox, which happened to be Aladdin and were all fantastic and vibrant just like the show. It was perfectly executed and topped with expertly seared scallops. The accompanying sauce was just what it needed to take the dish to excellent . The only criticism is that the sauce was a little gloopy and poorly plated. The other dish we tried was the white bean hummus with veggies. This veggies were fresh and yummy. The white bean hummus was probably the most flavorless restaurant dish ever served. There was not enough salt and pepper in the shakers to rescue it.
