Had outstanding service from our carrier for several years. If a package didn't fit in our mailbox, he would deliver it to the covered porch so it wouldn't get rained or snowed on. Sadly, he must have retired...we miss him. Now, our packages are laid on the ground in the driveway; rain, shine, snow, whatever. They are left in a spot not visible from any window in the house, so we don't even know when a package has been left there...and sometimes it occurs after dark. We appealed to the post office that packages should be placed under cover in a safer location, but were told that packages that don't fit in a mailbox will be left in front of the garage, as it is closer to the mailbox than the covered porch. Yes, those additional 10 steps are killers. Customer service is dead at the Scarborough, Maine post office. Will use FedEx anytime we're given the choice. read more

I have found, been informed by my bank, employer, our town clerk and credit card company that I moved. News to me!!! Mail being returned to sender not deliverable as addressed. Spoke with Postmaster, since then, my W-2 was returned to my employer AGAIN. I guess I'm being forced to purchase a post office box in hopes that my mail will be delivered, oops, no that won't happen either!! I closed my post office box because I didn't receive mail for 3 months and was told it was because no one was sending me anything. Was in the area running errands and decided to check out this post office (because I couldn't deal with the parking situation or traffic around any of the options in Portland), and I really liked this particular branch of the USPS! It's close to Route 1, it's got plenty of parking, and the staff seems to be friendly, warm, efficient, engaging, and even funny. There was a bit of a queue when I arrived around lunchtime midweek (this makes sense; I bet it's a lot quieter midmorning or midafternoon), and while a similar line at the Forest Ave USPS would take fifteen minutes with four employees - this took less than five minutes with two employees! The next time I need to ship something, I'd probably come out of my way to do so here. read more

The letter carrier for my route drives way too fast for a residential street. In addition to his speeding, we have ring camera footage of him tossing packages, making rude remarks, and leaving items in the pouring rain with no cover. His behavior is not only extremely unacceptable, it's dangerous due to the speeding. read more

i went to this post office to submit my passport for a visa application. the clerk (clerk 16) made me hand write a shipping label and a shipping return label for my passport. im not from maine so i questioned having handwritten shipping label and i was met with a snarky remark of the clerk saying "all states are supposed to do it this way, we can't print electronic shipping labels. " long story short because this man made me hand write a label i now have to pay $50 dollars to get my passport sent back to me. if a man at this location tries to tell you that a handwritten shipping label is correct, don't let him gaslight you. make sure that you get an electronic shipping label and live in the 21st century like the rest of the world. or just avoid this post office location in general so that you don't have to deal with men talking down to you and giving you incorrect information. read more

The PO has lost two of my packages!!!! one was delivered to another street. The other one, just recently got delivered to God only knows where!!! they said it was delivered. I didn't get it. Quick friendly and efficient Post Offices vary quite a bit in the quality of service. Some are very nice and friendly while others seem to go out of there way to make the experience as unpleasant as possible. The Scarborough Post Office is definitely one of the nicer ones. The post office is a very attractive building from the outside. Not just a box building but one that blends in with the rustic sort of feel of the town. It has a fairly decent sized parking lot but spaces can be a bit difficult to find during the busy hours. The inside is spacious with the boxes and automated stuff on one side and the room with the actually employees separated on the other. Plenty of room so you can do what you have to without bumping into other customers. Many post offices are becoming more and more automated and actually standing in line at the counter less necessary. Definitely a good thing but there are times when you just need the help of a real person. The employees in Scarborough are always friendly, competent and friendly even during the holiday season when they must feel overwhelmed at times. Nice to have someone actually say hello and smile. Many post offices are closing or having their hours reduced but they still are useful and necessary. Nice to find a place where mailing a package or getting some stamps can actually be a pleasant experience read more

Insufficient address error cannot be rectified by going in and showing them my ID, proving my residence and providing the tracking number that I received from the merchant?! You would think within the freaking 25 minute time span that I got the text and got to the PO that I would be able to halt the process of it being returned to sender?!? I sent a priority mail to CA on 28/12/2013, it is estimated on the next three days 1/3/2014. But 10 days latter, I found it just depart on 1/3/2014. I went over and ask why, they told me that priority does not mean guaranteed! ( I guess it only show that u just wast your money on stupid priority concept) read more

They keep delivering us the wrong packages and every time I try to call their customer service, I get absolutely no where. The automated voice system brings you around and around, and never offers customer service. I am ready to throw my phone in the trash. If anyone is missing mail I probably have it LOL. read more
