Some of the games almost reminded me of slot machines but there were also more normal arcade games
Jay P.

The arcade is large with lots of screen-based games but also ones where there is more physical interaction which we like for the kids. It's open longer hours than the boardwalk and a good place to burn some time if it starts raining or is too sunny. My kids loved skeeball, the nerf shooting game, and fruit ninjas. Air hockey was also fun but my son was so terrible a timer turned on after some time forcing us to finish. The coin-pusher games seemed to be a huge favorite. There were people always sitting at the games hitting the button repeatedly, for some reason they looked bored even if they hit the "jackpot" and a ton of coins fell down. The ticket reward system seemed a bit arbitrary and they digitally appear on your card, the only way to check how many tickets you have is at the scanner in the gift shop. Maybe I did something wrong but I could not figure out how to load more money onto an existing card, we ended up with 3 cards and it was a mess trying to get all the tickets from these cards traded in for prizes.

Well you can definitely spend hours here with you're friends or family. So busy as it does seem like a covid hot spot but the masks on & semi space apart doesn't seem to effect anybody. Not everything was in working condition but a entertaining location We all had a good time

Very fun arcade by the beach~ Too hot from the sun? Well come chill and relax here after playing in the lovely Santa Cruz beach. They have all kind of games including ticketed, crane, fighting, racing, dancing, musical, and your classics. Some of my favorite games like DDR (they had the FF7 remix!), Street Fighter V, and my SO's favorite Initial D driving stimulator version 3 and 4 were available! What's even better is that the food stand in the back sells margaritas and daiquiris to make your stay even more enjoyable :) The only downside is that the prizes for the ticketed games are pretty lame. Avoid ticketed games unless you really do want the prizes they offer.

Too addicting... Didnt realized i was sitting there for close to an hour. Haha

Place is freaking great! Not sure why i just started going here every few weeks... But we'll worth the drive. The games are too fun. The atmosphere is what you would expect.

Stingy on the tickets. Games are fun, but don't go in expecting to win any fabulous prizes!

The ticket payout and prize selection leaves much to be desired. That said, my kids had a good time.

I thought it was a little odd because air hockey is not really that interesting to watch.

2026 Company Beach Party/Summer Picnic BBQ at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk!…read more Since we had a group event there was a $15 discount provided for daily parking at certain Boardwalk lots which was nice. Unlimited rides wristbands for all, plus catered lunch at the Sun Room at The [Cocoanut] Grove venue. I haven't been to the Boardwalk in maybe 20 years, but did go a bunch when I was little. It's their Centennial year too, 100 years! Love the carnival style games, classic arcade, rides, caricature artists, and of course, the main beach. I specifically sought out the Giant Dipper wooden Rollercoaster, the original Looff Carousel with the brass ring catching game, and the sky gondola this trip. Since food was provided at the Grove I passed on the funnel cakes, beignets, Dippin' Dots, pretzels and the like. They did have a commemorative reusable/refillable drink cup with a bendy straw though. The MyFunMoment selfie stations weren't working that day though. Didn't stay for summer nights live music or movies on the beach, and rides go till late. A fun day trip, great weather!

Maybe it's because there are so few screens here? There is a large arcade at one end, but it was surprisingly empty during our visit. My kids loved the carnival games and bumper cars, though my daughter wasn't quite tall enough for many of the rides yet. To play games or go on rides, you'll need a reloadable game card, which also works as payment for food and drinks. Card stations are located throughout the boardwalk, and you can add money at any time. Food options are plentiful! Enjoy pizza, nachos, corn dogs, teriyaki bowls, candy shops, and ice cream, with a few spots serving alcohol for adults. The food was reasonably priced, but the alcohol was shockingly expensive, $38 for two 20oz beers! The best part about this place is the location... it's right on the beach! So, start your day with some time in the sand, and end it with a sunset ride on the Sky Glider or their giant Ferris wheel. Have fun!

Let me tell you the story of a guy who went to Level Up Games and bought some stuff and then traded…read morein some stuff. Normal, right? Then fast forward at least 15 maybe even 20 years and this guy entirely forgot he had credit because his job took him away from Santa Cruz. But one day he returns to get the batteries changed in his old Pokemon games (which they did quickly and for a very reasonable price) and he was informed he had almost 20 bucks sitting there. That's me. I'm the guy. It's been so long that they could never have told me and I would never have been the wiser. Also, even if I remembered they could have kept the money after so much time had passed and I would have fully understood. But nope, they held on to it and even told me about it. Their collection of retro games is amazing and you can buy modern games there too? It's all you could want in a game store.

I've had a week to get distance from this experience and mull over whether or not I should write a…read morereview, but I felt that it's right to respond instead of just letting it slide because shoppers should be aware of what to expect. I took several gaming hardware items - controllers, adapters, chargers, cases, and a GBA game - to sell because I wanted to get rid of them. I've been a regular customer at this local game shop for years and have always had decent experiences there. When I dropped off the items, the employee at the counter gave me a very firm rundown about policy, percentages, and profit margins right off the bat - not exactly the warmest greeting, but fair enough. They had a backlog of other trade-ins to appraise, so they let me keep the items there and said they'd follow-up over the phone with their prices later, which they did after a couple of days. During that phone conversation with their employee (who was not the employee I dropped off the items with), I asked if she could list out the prices on each item. She provided me with that info and I told her that I agreed to the prices on the smaller items, but that I'd come by in a few days to pick up the GameCube controller because the price was lower than I was hoping for. I didn't argue about it - I just said I'd pass on that one and pick up the rest. About 3 days after that phone call, I came into the store to pick up my items and had what was honestly the worst customer service experience I've had at any local shop, which is why I'm writing this review. There were two employees behind the counter who I recognized from previous visits. After I walked in and asked for my items, one employee handed me the bag and then brought up an old issue from a few weeks earlier where I had attempted to purchase METROID PRIME 4: BEYOND from their website when it was mistakenly listed for $0.00. Immediately after checkout, they had sent me an email revoking the purchase, explaining it was an error on their site. I understood and moved on from it at the time - these things happen. I wasn't actually expecting the game. However, it felt strange to have this brought up again now, especially in a tone that seemed like I had done something wrong by placing the order in the first place. The employee said, "no worries," but the context made it feel like I was being called out rather than reassured. At this point, I was just standing there ready to complete the transaction for the items I'd agreed to sell (a GBA game and one of the cases aforementioned). But then the other employee - the same person I had dropped off the items with initially - told me that they had actually decided to pass on ALL the items and would be offering me $0 instead. I said, "Oh, so you changed your mind from what was offered on the phone?" He then told me that I had haggled with his coworker on the phone and had come back into the store in-person on a different day to push for better prices on all the items. This was completely incorrect. I never came back to the store between drop-off and this pickup, and I never haggled - I simply declined the controller and accepted the other prices. I tried to clarify: "That didn't happen. I didn't do that. You have the wrong information." He dismissed this and launched into a lengthy explanation about their policies and evaluation process, talking over me even when I tried to correct the misunderstanding a second time. His coworker even attempted to interject and redirect the conversation, but he waved him off and kept going. Eventually I just said, "have a good one" and left because I was feeling very uncomfortable. Look, I understand trade-in shops need to make a profit, and I understand that pricing errors happen on websites. What I don't understand is the conflicting information (being offered prices, then being offered nothing), the accusation about behavior I didn't engage in, and the unwillingness to hear me out when I tried to correct the record. I've spent a lot of money here over the years and have always been respectful and nice. I'm disappointed that this is how things ended, but I won't be returning to this shop or spending my money here ever again. I'm posting this so others know to get clear, written confirmation on any trade-in offers and to be prepared for potential communication issues as well as some pretty bad customer service overall - particularly from certain employees.

The battery is always buzzin' at this spot. Bankshots is everything you want in a game shop…read more Fireball Fridays is what it's all about, I could literally end my review right there...haha By far the coolest and most welcoming place to play a game of pool. Customers are treated like family whether you're a pool player or not, if you're a pool player like I am, you'll love the well maintained diamond pool tables. I was banking some straight 8 and 9 ball. Overall a fun environment. I used to come here all the time when I worked in Santa Cruz, this is a great place to hangout with friends and play a game of pool. It has an old school feel, I dig it! I will definitely come back! Good people, good vibes, endless fun, I recommend coming here and the staff is awesome! #ElectricFactory

This is the more adult upstairs section of the arcade on the boardwalk…read more Parking will be the boardwalk parking for the most part. So be prepared for traffic kerfluffle and high pricing in the summer. It's kind sorta located with neptune's kingdom-that piratical themed minigolf thing. From the parking/street side of things just go up the set of stairs across from the where you pay for the minigolf. There is a snack bar up there, but it's movie theater quality pricing and flavor. Some of the best two dollar hot dog's you'll ever pay seven dollars for. They have beer in cups or cans for sale-but a single beer will be roughly the cost of whole six pack in a store. Still, there is food and beer if you simply must have it. To my mind the two best things up here are the games and the bathrooms. Generally speaking the restrooms up on the game deck tend to be slightly cleaner and less crowded then the ones elsewhere on the boardwalk. This is a relative standard mind you, but still. Then there are the games. There are not quite a dozen pool tables in excellent condition. There is almost always one open and dozens of people (mostly, but not exclusively men) hanging out playing. If you are looking for game of pool this is the spot. There are also almost twenty pinball games lined up, well, everywhere. So if you looking for some serious pool or pinball action without the kidzone effect elsewhere on the boardwalk this is the spot.
