I am not much of a whiskey drinker, but I was staying at the hotel next door and came in late for a glass of wine. I did not know that I was going to have to walk outside in the rain to get there, but I was welcomed at the bar, even looking tired and wet. It was late and I was not looking for food, but I was delighted to see a sparkling cuvee on the wine list. I love bubbles. The bartender was friendly and they kept me occupied long enough for the rain to subside and I could walk back. This is kind of an industrial area, from what I can tell, so it was nice to have a nice place to stop and enjoy a drink.

CASK Whisky Vault's tasting menu is a true culinary masterpiece. The Abalone Motoyaki is a divine Japanese delicacy that perfectly balances the sweetness of the creamy sauce with the tender texture and umami flavour of the abalone. And don't even get me started on the Maguro Tuna Tartare - the tuna tartare goes well with crispy taro chips, complementing the dish's buttery texture and refreshing flavours. Whiskey chocolate cake is a heavenly dessert that combines the richness of dark chocolate with the subtle warmth and depth of whiskey, resulting in a decadent treat that's both indulgent and sophisticated. Each dish (total of 6 dishes) on the $59 tasting menu is a unique and creative masterpiece that will leave you wanting more. Trust me; you will want to experience this unforgettable dining experience at CASK Whisky Vault. Food: 5/5 Must Try! Service: ‍‍‍‍‍5/5 Kids: 3/5 A-OK for kids. (maybe better for the big kids & because of the bar) Price: $50-$100 for four (Happy Hours) Presentation: 5/5 Parking: Paid parking Tips: * is easy to miss the entrance. One fine evening, wife and i decided to try this place as we have heard abt it from other people. Just from the name, yes, it is a whiskey lovers paradise. They have every imaginable whiskey. The "vault" was well stocked for the whiskey connoisseur. The ambiance was very cozy. Low mood lighting. Dark rich wood and leather couches. Definitely sets the mood for an intimate evening. We decided on the chefs tasting menu, so as to try majority of their specialties. All in all, the dishes were mediocre. Its anothr fusion or western and asian foods. Most were asian in nature and tasted just average. Like the pickled veggies and karaage with seaweed. Very common fare. Tasted ordinary. No umaminess and or point to rave about. Even the wagyu and tongue yakitoris tasted the same. I was expecting quality wagyu...but the pieces were smothered in too much sweet bbq sauce that it killed the flavour and texture of the wagyu. Became so caramelized that you couldbt distinguish the wagyu from the tongue. :( However, they make good, colourful, but pricey whiskey cocktails lol. The dessert was very good. Rich chocolate cake and ice cream. Was the best dish if the night. Service was fantasticZ server understood and knew the menu and was able to explain everything. Quick and attentive and always service with a smile. From my experience, better off enjoying excellent whiskey with some tapas. Dont get fooled by the fine dining decors and ambiance, food is simply average. Similar to going to an average japanese restaurant. Parking is not free but very cheap. Cheers! Happy eating!

Cask Whisky Vault is a hidden gem. Located inside of Club Versante, this hotel bar offers a stellar selection of whiskeys from around the world. I stopped by with a group of four on a Friday evening around 10:00 p.m., and unsurprisingly, the place was packed. Our initial thought was to take off and try to find another bar elsewhere, but I'm glad we followed our gut instinct to stick around. We waited in the lobby for spots to open up at the bar and to our surprise, we were seated within 15 minutes. Our bartender -- William, was super knowledgeable when it came to whiskeys. He knew everything on the menu inside out and also was a joy to converse with about off-menu whiskeys. My wife ordered a whiskey flight while I stuck with an Old Fashioned. I thoroughly enjoyed my Old Fashioned -- not too sweet and alcohol forward, and my wife loved the variety of whiskeys presented in her whiskey flight. If you're new to the world of whiskeys, don't be shy about asking for a recommendation from your bartender. They will be more than happy to help you find something that fits your palate (and price-point). If you enjoy your whiskey neat, you can ask for ice on the side if you decide to change your mind later on. The staff is very accommodating. In addition to cocktails and whiskey flights, there's a robust menu of bar bites, savory dishes, and desserts. My friends ordered the bone marrow and only had good things to say about the dish. Kitchen closes at 11:00 p.m. so plan accordingly. After 11:00 p.m., only a small selection of bar bites are available. I wholeheartedly recommend Cask Whisky Vault. A must-visit location if you're stopping in Vancouver. Parking is available in the building at $1.50 per hour.

What a gem in the Richmond district. As a lover of all kinds of whiskey and delicious Japanese food, this place was the perfect pairing of the two. They have live music starting at 8 on Sundays and Tuesdays. The ambiance is really cool, and you can be up close to engage with the music or be further back and tucked away. The vault tasting menu is great value, tons of food, and you get to try a lot of different things. They had a peaty whiskey flight, a smoother option, an international option, and one that paired with the food super well. Will definitely come back.

We had an absolutely amazing time checking out Cask Whisky Vault. The whisky selection here is unreal and the snacks are really good too. Definitely worth checking out, we will be back again soon.

One of my best friends was having her birthday party here and I was utterly confused that I'd never heard of this place, so much so, that I questioned her if it was the right spot..... I now admit, that I was in the wrong. The Shebeen is located through a little alley way behind the Irish Heather. You have to go through the actual restaurant to find it, so no wonder it's hard to find! It gave me total speakeasy feels. Our large group took over their little patio area pretty early on around 5:30pm and set up camp there until 10:30ish. It was fairly slow at the beginning, but as the night went on, the inside of the Shebeen filled up and this spot was bumpin'. They specialize in whiskys (hence their name), so I was ordering old fashioneds left and right. I did also have a gin and tonic or two at the beginning of the evening. The old fashioneds were some of my favourite I've had in Vancouver. You can also order food through the Irish Heather menu. After a few drinks, I needed to put some food in my body so I ordered the curry fries. Wow, wow, wow. I was in saucy fry heaven. I need more of this in my life. Honestly, I'd come back just for this. Our servers (we had two checking in on us throughout the evening), were ROCKSTARS! Before I even had finished my drink, they were already checking in and asking if we wanted another... this resulted me in never having an empty drink, which I definitely felt the next day. Now that this spot is on my radar, I'll be back more often. Thanks for a great evening and here's to many more, Shebeen!

I've not been to this pub's past location in Gastown so I can't compare it to its past venue, and I'm not a beer drinker, so I can't comment on that, but we both had a great time here! The pub interior was very reminiscent to the Irish pubs I frequented back in the day, when I spent time on the Emerald Isle: dark wood panelling, humongous selection of liquors and beers and bottles on the mirrored bar back, Guinness decor (posters and tchatchkies) interspersed with relics of various Catholic saints and deities. Wooden tables and chairs. Servers with genuine Irish accents. It felt like the real deal. Oh, and if you're into whiskey, they have one of the most extensive whiskey menus I've seen in Vancouver, by far (I am attaching a photo). Their food menu was impressive, too, especially for an Irish pub (which, in my day, wasn't really known for its food!). I had a Bailey's and my kid had a shandy (she had never had one before and she loved it). Our server was friendly and the atmosphere, casual and welcoming.

The only thing that threw me off was that our table was seated next to a bit of a gap by a booth and servers kept going through that area "as a short cut", which was a little tight on my end instead of them going around our table. that being said it was relatively empty when we came in, so I was kind of hoping that we didn't have to sit so close to other guests when there were available tables elsewhere. We caught happy hour which was nice and I would recommend their prime rib slider. The lettuce chicken wraps were good but nothing to venture out solely for. We had asked if they could substitute tofu instead of the chicken but we weren't able to make any adjustments to the dish.
