Great happy hour menu and drinks. Food was delicious so were their cocktails. Really enjoyed their grilled prawns. Servers were very friendly and attentive. Love the atmosphere! A great spot for happy hour!

Ambience - 10/10! Love the high ceilings, beautiful paintings, dark intimate atmosphere. Service - 10/10. Attentive service and very friendly staff! Drinks - initial cocktail orders were okay. Ordered a margarita because description said "apple pie syrup" but it didn't taste unique at all. We really like the "passionate" squad shots $4/24! Food - dessert was on the house for someone's bday. It was a chocolate mousse? But overall, food was pretty underwhelming. Shrimp was peeled which our party found annoying because flavour was good but we either had to go in and peel it ourselves or we were chewing on hard, sharp peel. The focaccia bread was, what we thought was burnt. I ate mine and my friend left her burnt piece. Restaurant told us after its on purpose and cooked with charcoal & we could've asked for bread that was less cooked. Duck legs were good. Glad we got these at happy hour and not full price. Surprisingly, the table beside us leaned over and asked if we liked our food and we said it's okay, and they said they thought the food is kind of "disgusting" (which is a stretch.) however, someone else on my ig reached out & shared the same sentiment that they were abit disappointed with the food and had high hopes. I would go back if someone suggested it, or go back and stick to drinks! Recommend you try it out for yourself and see if it meets expectations because other people's reviews seem pretty high!

Been here quite a few times now so figured it's time for a review. Love the ambiance and the fact it's outside of downtown. Mainly come here for drinks so I can't really speak about the food but the bartenders are friendly and engaging. I also like trying their new conceptions/deceptions and last time we had the five orange pips, negroni special and a broad idea. Each drink estetically were amazing and tasted just as good as they looked. Great place for a date or to catch up with friends. Highly recommend coming here and will be back again soon!

The food and service was great, central location on Main Street. Sat on the patio which was really nice except for one particularly annoying bee, inside looked quite nice as well. Definitely will return!

I was so thrilled to see a new bar in town and the Watson did not disappoint! I arrived just before happy hour ended so just in the knick of time i was able to enjoy the cheaper drinks and food. My friend and i both ordered the strawberry margs for $10 - nowadays i'd consider that a good price - was the perfect cool and refreshing drink! For food, i got the whipped burrata - it came with prosciutto and a nice light toast. it was amazing!! My friend ordered the prawns and absolutely loved it too. The interiors of this place are stunning and the service was wonderful. Will defs be back to try more of their menu :)

perhaps it was the awesome weather, the wonderful company and most def the high ceilings - the watson is def going to be highlight for me for 2024. foodie trio again, and s and i arrived early - we were able to catch the last bits of hh! the decor is modern yet retro - i see that they were channeling dr. watson vibes at the bar area, and the upstairs area is quaint - perfect for a small gathering/party! we were seated right away, and our server, leo (i snagged the name frm my receipt LOL) was VERY attentive. he assisted us with the menu, recommendations, washroom directions - you name it! he was a delight to have! s and i started with some hh nibbles - the whipped burrata and prosciutto. the house focaccia was charred nicely with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil. i found the burrata to be on the saltier side but s loves cheese so who am i to complain! the bomba tho - the antipasto that could! it added a nice kick to the dish - not too much cuz s can't handle too much spice - and it was so good that we kept the little dish of it to munch on thruout the night. for drinks, s had the house red and i had the twisted revolver. the twisted revolver was boozy yet there was a nice hint of cinnamon and musty/wood aftertaste. by the time we finished the burrata, a arrived and there was a last call for hh - s and i fumbled and ordered a pencillin for her plus the duck wings. a said the pencillin, with its ginger foam, reminded her of ginger beer/moscow mule - two of her favs. the duck wings were saucy and delish - a and i are used to having the duck wings in a more chinese fashion, and the watson's spin is with gochujang - korean chili paste - which was a nice change to our palate. we then went from 0 to 10 with our ordering - we ordered the harissa carrots, wild mushroom toast, shishito peppers and the roast 1/2 chicken. i ordered my 2nd drink as well - the royal tea, which reminded me of a spiked ribena bubble tea due to the cassis caviar. i did have another refreshing french 75 with the fords dry gin - i was determined to have all the gin on the list (there were only 2 that i havent tried) but alas, the sipsmith gin was not available for my tasting ): now the food! the small plates are def enough to share btwn the 3 of us. we had the shishito peppers and wild mushroom toast arrive first. the shishito peppers were charred nicely and the romesco added another level of heat to the dish - s found some of the peppers to be too spicy but a and i loved it. we kept the romesco on the table - we have a thing for sauces/dips ok?! the wild mushroom toast was OVERLOADED with mushrooms - def a brunch dish but we devoured it anyway! the white wine and fine herbs that went into the mushroom mixture made the concoction that much more flavourful. the house sourdough held its own for the base of the dish - it did not get too soggy nor did it fall apart! onwards to the harissa carrots and roast chicken. we added feta to the carrots, and honestly, i personally like carrots but im sure this dish will make anyone that hates them love them again! the hummus, yogurt, za'atar and pomegranate - it creates a wonderful symphony of flavours in your mouth. the carrots were roasted nicely - caramelized surface but the crunch was still there. it complement the roast chicken VERY nicely. the roast chicken was juicy and tender, the mediterranean vegetables and tomatoes - you need to have the spice yogurt! we were thoroughly stuffed by the end of it, and we're looking forward to coming again to check out the other dishes/drinks!

Happy hour: Whipped burrata and focaccia, olives and the vesper martini

Came here for happy hour on a Wednesday afternoon around 4pm. There were only a few other people there so we got seats right away. The atmosphere is super modern, dark and moody.....loved it. Our waiter brought us water right away and was very attentive. The happy menu was so great, had some amazing items that we really wanted to try. Must haves: the harissa carrots. You know a place can make carrots taste amazing, that this is a place worth going to! They were spicy, the tahini hummous and pops of pomegranate were just amazing. The burrata and home made focaccia with romesco was also sooooo good. We got the spicy olives and they were yummy. My absolute favorite drink was the barrel aged vesper. I had two because they were so good. It hit all the right notes, a touch of lemon, sweetness, saltiness. It was too easy to drink! We also got the Red dress which I had heard a lot about, but I wouldn't get it again. It was sort of like mulled wine but cold. All in all, I will definitely be back to this cute new little drink bar!

Off the menu old fashioned - ask Jordan :)

Great service amazing ambience. Jordan was incredibly kind and attentive. We didn't have food but the menu looked amazing, we will come back for sure!

    Desserts are very good.

Friendly service and ambiance was really good. We had tasty deserts and drinks. Great place to hang out with a big group. Outdoor patio was really nice and interior design felt very classy.

Wow, this building has really changed. It has been various businesses, but this makeover is stupendous. I went in during the evening, and it was beautiful. I love the black theme, and the overall darkness. It was quite busy in the evening on Saturday but we were able to snag a table around 9pm. The drinks that we ordered were good. It was a small menu and I found one drink I particularly liked and ordered it a few times. I only drink three spirits, mainly gin and vodka and so I found the menu was very limited for me. We ordered on small and appi and it was really good. So overall, it was good, and I wouldn't mind going back, but Bartholomew and Keefer Bar are still my top two.

Absolutely love the Watson! Fantastic atmosphere, unique cocktails and delicious food, you don't want to miss trying this hot spot on Main Street. The happy hour is the best in the city. Sit at the bar, you won't regret it. This is an upscale mixologist offering with a inviting neighbourhood vibe. Each drink is handcrafted with attention to layers of excitement for your palette. The kitchen staff is producing imaginative and satisfying plates that are generous and encourage you to try something new. Staff are amazing.

As Son of TIKI DAVE would say, I didn't need to go, but I wanted to go. Yes, yes, Alec, I wanted to go. And the reviews lived up to the hype. What a wonderful spot halfway between the airport and downtown. I left it up to the bartenders to choose my drinks... Against my better judgment, I went with the bartender's recommendation to try the Painkiller because they touted it better than the Soggy Dollar Bar in the BVI. Well, I've been to the BVI but never the Soggy Dollar Bar...yeah, I know. But this drink, that I would normally think too sweet for my taste, was amazing. Now, I have to go to the freakin' Soggy Dollar Bar to compare but I'd bet this one was better. For my second, I again, left it up to the knowledgeable bartender to guide me the way. And he served me up with this perfectly amazing and glowy amazingness that is the Rememberer? Which is off menu. It was amazing. And did I mention it glowed? Ambience and service is amazing. I showed up on a Saturday night at 10 and I was worried after reading about it that I'd have trouble getting in but it wasn't a problem at all. Surrounded by warehouses, did the driver want us to experience a "call of the wild?" However, Odd Society beckoned one block from the corner, and two seats were available at the strange bar. Strange because our view was blocked by a kind of ersatz plastic and wood wagon wheel blocking our view of the servers and bar. It was reminiscent of Utah's Zion Curtain. Later, I was told it was part of Odd Society's Covid protection and helped the bartenders stack things up. Okay, fine, but tear the damn things down. They're obnoxious. Odd Society creates an array of liquors made from ingredients sourced locally by law. It's required by their license. I tried almost all of them, and most were fantastic. Abby and Colin, our servers, were charming, fun, and educational, answering my questions, which became increasingly inane as the alcohol took effect. The distillery also mixes fantastic cocktails, and mine, named Midori, was friggen unbelievable. I had two of them along with my liquor tasting. My Midori was made with a special concoction called Portuguese Sweet Milk, or something like that. It was amazing. I want one for breakfast. The fun kept coming, and I didn't want to leave. In summary, the place was ok, but noticed after the fact that we were overcharged for the drinks. It's a small space - about 3 high tables, one lower one, each seating 4 to maybe at most 5 people, plus a bar. I reserved a table for the 2 of us at 3:30 pm on a Sunday (earliest reservation they had as they open at 3 pm) and we were seated at 3 pm. They checked our vaccine passports and then seated us. Not long after we were seated, the remaining tables were all taken just after opening for 30 minutes so I would recommend reserving if you prefer tables over bar seating. The waitress brought over a drinks menu and food menu. The menu showed cocktails at $13. We chose our drinks and ordered, then the waitress came by with a second menu that she said was for Sunday only. She apologized and said she normally doesn't work Sunday's so she didn't know this promotional menu was available. This menu had some cocktails on promotion that I would have not minded to try, but I had already received my cocktail. Oh well. I had the Violet and Claire, which looked great and tasted pretty good for the first half. However by the second half of the drink, it started to taste too sweet. It was not bad for a cocktail, overall. My friend said the Smoke Between the Sheets cocktail was alright as well. We got our bills quickly as we had a second place to visit afterwards. After paying, I snapped a picture of the bill at the time but did not notice until I got home that to my surprise, each cocktail was listed on the bill at $14.95. I recalled their physical menu saying $13, and verified this with their menu online. Unfortunately, I did not notice the discrepancy until I was home, otherwise I would have mentioned something. Note that our visit was at the end of November 2021, and at the time I'm writing this review (December 26, 2021), their online menu still has cocktail prices at $13. So, I am not sure if this was a one time mistake when we paid, or if they have just forgotten to update their menu? Either way, this was disappointing. Because of the entire experience I probably won't visit again, especially with all the other options Vancouver has for cocktails.

Sadly, we were sooooo disappointed! We came on a Saturday evening at peak time, around 6:30pm, so granted, we expected it to be busy. We were sat nearly right away in comfortable booths with tables. The waitress brought us menus and water. So far so good! We ordered our food, nothing crazy, several got the special of the night, lamb souvlaki with potatoes rice and pita. A couple ordered the seafood pasta, one asked for red sauce instead of cream sauce and two asked for veggie lasagna's but they only had one order available. When we asked about the beers on menu, we were told each one was unavailable except for Heineken and the seasonal beer. When we asked what it was, she didn't know. She then brought the can of beer over and said she wasn't sure what type it was. Fair enough! She was young, seemed new and not quite trained with alcohol so no big deal. It gave us a giggle. It was a Granville Island radler btw. I ordered a Heineken and my friend ordered the yummy sounding spicy passionfruit margarita. My beer came fairly quick but no margarita. Then the young waitress came out to say that our food would take a bit longer to come out since they were a bit slammed with orders and asked if we wanted any appetizers. We decided we'd be ok, and decided to wait. One hour later!!!!! I'm not joking, one hour later, the margarita drink came out. Again, we noticed very young and probably newly hired staff attempting to make drinks. When this $19 drink came out, it looked like the rim of salt was touched with fingers and a lot of it was missing. However, my friend desperate for a drink or morsel of anything, decided to just have it as it came. She said it was delicious and the best thing she had. One hour and a half later!!! Our food came out. My medium rare lamb was cooked through and the pasta with red sauce came out with a cream sauce, but there was NO way we were going to send anything back as we were pretty hangry at this point. The potatoes were delicious, the rice extremely plain. All 8 of us agreed that for the price, service and quality of food, we would not be returning, although my friend said if the passionfruit drink was on the happy hour menu, she would consider it. All in all, very disappointed.

Published on Main - Vancouver, BC…read more We chose Published on Main for dinner because it's one of the participating restaurants where we could use our Amex Platinum dining credit. Since it's also a Michelin-starred restaurant, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to finally experience it. Our dinner lineup was: Aebleskiver Milk Bun Belgian Endive Dungeness Crab GBP Gnocchi BBQ Beef Striploin Most of the dishes are designed for sharing, with the exception of the Aebleskiver, which is served individually, so we ordered two. It's a round, savoury dough with herbs and pine nuts, topped with Kaluga caviar. The dough itself was delicious, but the caviar wasn't quite to my taste. I prefer caviar with that distinct salty, creamy and buttery flavour, while I found this particular Kaluga very mild and almost tasteless. Everything else, however, was fabulous. Dungeness Crab - My absolute favourite of the evening. Beautifully executed and packed with flavour. Belgian Endive - A very close second and probably one of the biggest surprises of the meal. Who knew endive could be this memorable? BBQ Beef Striploin - The Michelin-worthy dish for me. Beautifully prepared and a great way to finish our savoury courses. The Milk Bun and GBP Gnocchi were also excellent and rounded out the meal nicely. The atmosphere is polished but not overly formal--I'd describe it as business casual. Most guests were dressed accordingly; you could probably count on one hand the number who weren't. Despite the restaurant being busy, I didn't find it loud at all. We could comfortably chat and hear each other throughout dinner, which I really appreciated. Service was cordial, professional and knowledgeable. Each dish was presented with a clear description, adding to the overall dining experience without making it feel overly ceremonial. Overall, Published on Main lived up to its reputation. With the exception of the caviar not being to my personal taste, we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The Dungeness Crab alone is something I would happily return for. Definitely a restaurant I would recommend to friends and family--especially for a special occasion or if you're looking to put that Amex Platinum dining credit to very good use!

The servers that brought us our food were great at explaining each dish. The burrata was smooth and creamy. The focaccia that came with it, was huge and had a nice flavor to it. The candied pine nuts and cherry toppings were a really nice addition to the dish. The beef tar tar was tasty and slightly acidic. We had the Elk served rare, and it was delicous, but I didn't liked the cubed pieces. The stuffed pappardelle was soo good. I liked the hint of lemon, as it really elevated the dish. The duck with beet sauce was so nice. The duck had a nice crispy skin. The beets were one of my favorites. They were slightly acidic and sweet. The summer beans were very smooth and not like previous bean dishes that I have tried. The milk buns with butter didn't have much flavor, but the bun itself was nice and fluffy. The Octopus' sauce was so good and the Octopus itself was tender. I found the Maitake a bit too salty for me, but otherwise it was enjoyable. The Lambchetta was our least favorite dish of the night. It was a touch salty and had a hint of hoisin to it. The strawberry mille flavors were good, but the puff was a bit dry. The strawberry gelato was my favorite dessert. The gellee was nice as well. Walk through the forest dessert sounded interesting, but didn't hit the spot. I didn't really enjoy the mushroom flavor. It reminded me of Chinese herbal medicine. The coffee flavor wasn't bad. Our server was great at advising when she didn't think one of the desserts would be good to share as a table. This restaurant would be great for a celebration or date night. 4.5 stars

I didn't realize the restaurant did sushi platters and oysters - what a pleasant surprise! The oysters were delicious. For the sushi I've definitely had better, but was still impressed that the restaurant had this kind of platter available. Portions were really big and among the dishes, the miso cod was a big standout with great flavour and texture. I also enjoyed the matcha tiramisu dessert as it was not too sweet. The staff were very friendly and attentive to replenishing drinks. I believe some of the drinks were made specifically for the event so I'm not sure if any of the ones I had are on the regular menu. However, the drinks were delicious and the 'Ryujin' especially was my favourite one (the glass with dragonfruit garnished over top!) It was fruity, sweet, and deceivingly tasted like tropical juice. I would like to return to experience the restaurant on its own sometime. In the meantime, it's an excellent spot for private events!

We ordered earlier in the day, and the shucker was clearly alert, taking the extra steps to ensure a clean finish. Truffle fries were indulgent and perfectly crisp, though the garlic aioli was milder than I prefer -- almost like straight mayo without a punch. I skipped the sushi wrap, sticking to my traditionalist ways, but my friend enjoyed it. Brownie bites, complimentary as they were, were a disappointment. Lacking enough fat and possibly stored improperly, they tasted a bit stale -- a shame, because how does a brownie not taste good? Our server was attentive and charming, swooping in at just the right moments for round twos and top-offs, which made the experience that much smoother.

I grew up in Seattle- a short drive to the south- and was missing me some seafood! I ordered up a couple local brews (IPA's if anyone is asking) and checked out the menu! I quickly focused on the fish and chips! 2pcs just to be safe! As I started to drink the beer, the fish and chips showed up! With a nice little tub of tartar sauce, and a nice little tub of ketchup for the fries- the way God intended! The fish was lightly breaded nicely fried and tasted absolutely fantastic! Especially with that great tartar sauce! Even the coleslaw tasted pretty epic! Now let me tell you this place was definitely a sports bar because tonight the USA was playing Belgium in the FIFA. World Cup and the place was lively as hell! So did I enjoy it? Heck yeah! I will be back and you should go and try it once too, and I'll bet you would agree. This place is where you want to be!
