The Shebeen is a super cool whiskey bar behind the Irish Heather. Highly recommend checking this place out, it is such a good vibe and such a great spot for drinks and snacks. I can't wait to come back again, it's amazing here.

They had a huge, but kind of pricey, whiskey selection. They were otherwise very friendly. The interior was quite nice.

another fine seán establishment that julia will be frequenting (the other being open outcry!)…read more thank you a for always appeasing to whatever restaurant choice i pick. tho she does say that my choices are often good...i haven't slipped up yet so let's keep it that way. shoutout MUST be given to teagan (spelling?) for being the best server. helpful, fun and attentive but not in a creepy "im watching you" kinda way! there were def some drinks that caught our eye frm the menu. a relived her childhood fav - the shandy! i had a sip and it is very easy on the palate - that lemonade adds a refreshing citrus note to the drink. i, ofc, had the gunpowder & tonic. i had a double, no regrets! then a decided to try the dirty snakebite - ribena makes it dirty and for those who know, you know i ended up having the same as my last drink but only as a half pint - so thank you teagan for informing me of that! was the dirty snakebite as lethal as the menu says - no. it is VERY easy to keep drinking it tho - the ribena adds a subtle sweetness to the drink that makes it that much more palatable. before this drink, i had the peach & orange ketel one spritzer - the peach shines through the whole drink tho not in an artificial way. another easy drink to down - i guess we were on a roll for drinks! now for food! for appies, we had the preserved seafood and posh toast. conservas aka preserved seafood are basically the canned seafood that we see at the stores - obvsly the ones at irish heather are not your run of the mill ones. we had the mejillones en escabeche #130 - smoked mussels. the mussels were smoked to perfection with a nice of hint of char. the toast that came with the dish was on point - not too burnt compared to the posh toast. the mussels were also creamy in the mouth, not something you'd expect frm canned seafood. the posh toast was nice minus the super burnt toast. the spinach and artichoke spread was on point - it almost reminded me of an egg salad spread! then the star main - the stacked corned beef sandwich. i'm sure most know how much i rave abt the corned beef - it was the same quality, same taste and same flavour that i fell in love with. as a and i shared, we added extra corned beef to make a monster corned beef sandwich. that was the best decision along with added the chili cheese to our fries. often cheese sauces can be too salty, it was the opposite in this case! best food/carb coma ever and another go-to pub to add to julia's repertoire

And yes, I was sitting at the bar. Then the bartender disappeared for a long time while it looked like a few people were waiting for service. My Kilkenny seemed flat. Have you seen the food menu? Uninspired to say the least, and the kitchen was closing up at 9:00. These people do not care.

The ribs were meaty and had that nice balance between sweet and tangy sauce. " A HIDDEN GEM BURSTING WITH FLAVORS"…read more From the moment we walked in the SMELLS were enchanting songs to our nostrils. We were immediately greeted by staff and sat at a table to view the menu. Now let's be honest. We were tourist just leaving a cruise ship and looking for some good homecooked southern food. Although we reside in Texas, we are originally from New Orleans, La and my boyfriend is a CHEF. I am the foodie and he is the professional chef so restaurants don't stand a chance with our taste buds. Majid (OWNER) & Hamed are absolutely amazing. We were greeted and provided the warmest welcome with descriptions of the menu in detail. Being from the SOUTH were expecting that they were not aware of our cuisine. I was all the way wrong. 1st CHOICE - the Whole Slab of pork ribs tender and falling off of the bone, The flavor was absolutely amazing. It taste as great as MEMPHIS and TEXAS barbecue. I was impressed with the flavor and burst of seasonings that reminded me of a grill and smoked meat. There were 6 pieces with half of slab and 12 pieces with a whole slab. We literally could not even eat all of it. The plate also contained 4 ounces of barbecue sauce, 4oz of barbecue baked beans, 4 oz. of Cole slaw, full serving of coleslaw and a slice of cornbread ( I prefer homemade, hot and buttery flavor on top with serving). The beans were okay but I have had better. The barbecue sauce was not the best to me as well but the food was so good I was not bothered by it. 2nd CHOICE was slices of Moist brisket with charred ends that were so exhilarating it taste like it come straight from the smoker to my table. Every piece of meat was fresh as if they just cooked it for us. The same sides as above came with this plate also except we choose FRESH CAJUN FRIES in addition. They were flavorful and fresh. So we had two servings of each where as we did not need to share the sides. 3rd CHOICE, - Now I must admit, I was in between the macaroni and cheese and the jambalaya. Hamed was very informative in describing it in detail and convincing as it is one of the best sellers. The menu described it as SAUSAGE, SHRIMP AND PULLED CHICKEN, SERVED WITH GREENS AND CORNBREAD. Once it arrived to the table it had a very strange white sauce poured over the rice. This is not described on the menu and it is not a traditional sauce for jambalaya. MY ADVICE INFORM PATRONS OF THIS ADDITION TO THE DISH BECAUSE THIS IS NOT AN INGREDIENT IN CAJUN JAMBALAYA DOWN SOUTH or PLACE ON MENU IN DESCRIPTION. Also the menu describes as greens on plate, and greens is listed on the menu but once asked we were told this is green salad not collard greens. It literally was a small portion of lettuce with no dressing so this needs to be addressed as well. OVERALL , I STILL GAVE A FIVE STAR REVIEW BECAUSE THE FOOD WAS ON POINT FOR BEING LOCATED IN THIS VANCOUVER CANADA. WE WERE VERY IMPRESSED AND I HAVE TO ADMIT MAJID (OWNER) CAN WIN A COUPLE OF COOKOFFS THAT FOOD WAS DELICIOUS I ALSO NEED TO ADD THE HOSPITALITY AND KINDNESS OF MAJID. I watched him walk to each table and ask how was the food and greet all of the guest. He provided us with a souvenir to remember our visit. I almost want to fly out again to eat there and fly back home. TWO DRINKS COST - $98.50 American Dollars VS $135.60 CANADIAN DOLLARS

It's cozy, stylish, and the drinks are crafted with serious skill. We tried their This or That summer cocktail feature (running until August 31), along with the Lost Luggage cocktail. This was fine with us since the goal was to have a couple of drinks and stuff ourselves with some burgers and fries from Hundy (the burger joint we needed to go through to get to Stock Room). I started with the dangerous liaison cocktail (beefeater gin, peach, lemon, sugar, butterfly pea flower). This was a solid drink, refreshing and hit the spot. My second drink was spreadsheet (beefeater, st. germain, lime, strawberry syrup, green strawberry bitters). I enjoyed this drink better as it wasn't too sweet and the flavor profile was more to my taste when it comes to cocktails. I'm happy to have found another bar to add to my list of places to grab a good drink in Vancouver.
