Great space outdoors to enjoy our bottle of Red and White that we had for the day. The outdoor area was a simple picnic table that we were able to enjoy the bottles of wine along with snacks and candy that we brought in ourselves. We were missing the wine slushies that they usually offer during the hotter months of the year. Coming here during October the weather was beautiful to celebrate my Mom's birthday. Very cute little winery off a dead end road, not far from Tolland. My friend and I stopped in to do a tasting. I am pretty familiar with wine tastings and my friend rarely drinks wine. The lady doing our tastings was wonderful and very knowledgeable, telling us about which grapes are grown on the premises and which ones they import, etc. We felt very welcome and not rushed at all. We found several different wines we liked despite having different tastes, and I left with a mixed case (10% discount on 12+ bottles) which I rarely do at other wineries. They have a few tables, so we were able to buy some cheese and sit and split a bottle after. Very cute environment with lots of Christmas decorations. I imagine it must get a bit loud and echoey when its busy, but it was great on a Friday afternoon. Can't wait to go back when they reopen in April! read more

Interesting - the wines as a whole are among the best group I have tasted in half a dozen wineries. For $6 we sampled a 2011 Pint Grigio, a 2012 Coventry Tricentennial White, a 2011 Riesling, a 2011 Summer Breeze (their best seller), a late harvest Vidal Blanc, and a blend named after the family dog - Jet's Red. I really enjoyed all of them, and we scooped up a bottle of the popular Summer Breeze ($14.95). Weirdly, there just seemed to be some cut corners along the way. No souvenir glass unlessr you wanted to pony up $3 more per person. No paper slips with the names of the wines printed and room for your comments (instead they had 3 or 4 laminated pages out for your perusal). No gift shop. Very little out for nibbling. Although Cassidy lacked some of the creature comforts of its vineyard brethren, their wine more than made up for these minor faults. The wines were excellent read more

Came here with my best friend for a girls afternoon. The winery is so cute and the staff was so friendly. Upon arrival we were a little torn over what wine to get. They let us taste two wines for free before pouring our glasses. All of the wines that we tried were exceptional. I always heard good things about this winery and it lived up to the hype. I got a glass of the Summer Breeze and loved it so much I bought a bottle. The wine has hints of strawberry and is very fruity, but also on the drier side. (I'm not a fan of sweet wine, so it was perfect for me). The winery wasn't too packed and we were able to get our own picnic table. It was such a beautiful day that we really enjoyed our time and the sunshine. Unfortunately, the winery closes at 5 pm on Saturday. We didn't know this and were about to have a quick bathroom break/ were headed to each buy an additional bottle when we found that out. I would recommend bringing a nice picnic/ lunch to the vineyard to enjoy your afternoon and wine with. We will definitely be back in the future to spend more time here and enjoy the beautiful and tranquil area that this winery is situated on. read more

Such a great find in the Hartford Area! I've been to Cassidy Hill a few times now and can say their wine is fantastic! My favorite is definitely their Summer Breeze but all are so good. It really doesn't matter if you're a red or white wine drinker because all the wines in each category have a little something for everyone! Staff is friendly and will let you try samples if you are debating bottles to buy. I've done a tasting before here too and the samples are decently poured and priced! Cassidy Hill has got to be one of the prettiest vineyards I've been to in Connecticut. The setting up on a hill was just majestic. There were plenty of tables inside and outside (both on the grass and on the porch). They didn't really have much for snacks so definitely bring your own. I saw people with large coolers. We had the wine tasting. The ladies were super friendly though a bit frantic as it was pretty busy. 6 wines for $7, no glasses included. We actually got one extra glass tasting ;-). If you don't want to buy a glass but wish to drink a bottle there, they will give you loaner glasses. Good pours. Delicious and unique wines. The Sumner Breeze was my favorite white, and the Malbec my favorite red. The Cabernet was like other Cabernets. Nothing special there but not bad. The bottles are no deal. But not crazy either. Weird because I usually rave about Connecticut's wines and vineyards but this one was just not to my taste. I chose the wines I thought that I would like, I only drink white, and was not impressed. The first one had strawberry in it and I couldn't get that taste out of my mouth. I aked for crackers but was told that they were out of them. I wasn't offered a glass of water even though I expressed concern that I was finding it difficult to taste other wines with the strong strawberry flavor in my mouth. The others that I sampled were either mediocre or tainted with strawberry. Gorgeous location!! Diving up to the vineyard and entering the tasting room, it made me wish I could get married again as this would be a lovely venue for a wedding!! We stopped in on our way to a family picnic, so just did a quick tasting and didn't have time to stick around for a glass. This place is so cute and hidden in the best way! Lots of seating in and outside of the building and the view of the vineyard and beyond it is gorgeous. We went on a slightly gloomy day that ended up being sunny and perfect when we arrived... a good sign right away! We did a tasting and ended up drinking two bottles of the summer breeze while there, and bought some rose to go. Definitely need to come back in the fall. Cassidy Hill is a great place to spend a lovely afternoon. Located in quaint Coventry, the drive to get here is quite nice. Beautiful grounds and ample space to walk around. We arrived early for a wine tasting since we were going to lunch after. We got to taste a good mix of whites and reds. They even poured us extra samples when we asked about their other wines. Everyone was super friendly and talked to us about the grounds. The tasting room was pretty big with some tables inside too. There's picnic tables outside, so I'd advise bringing some snacks and making a day of it. Very quiet and relaxing I wish we could've stayed longer. If you're a serious wine drinker then you already know Connecticut wine is not good lol. I'd give it like 2 stars. But it's a nice and affordable place to spend an afternoon with friends. read more

We visited on a warm, hazy October afternoon. The grapes grow on an eastern slope and overlook beautiful rolling hills in the distance. We did a tasting with glasses included. Beautiful scenery from the rustic and spacious tasting room to the grounds themselves. This winery is not far from Route 195 off Exit 68 on I-84 but you feel smack dab in the middle of the country. What a perfect place to spend an afternoon! For $6 you can taste their 6 wines, 5 whites and a red. I really enjoyed every wine, except for one that was too sweet for my taste. Our original trip here, a few years ago was a disappointment. My recent visit was to arrange a fundraiser, but I didn't have any wine. Last night was our fundraiser. The owner and staff were very accommodating, and the venue is wonderful with a good sized room and a wonderful porch, which is one reason for the 4 stars. They allowed us to bring in water bottles (although they sell them) and coffee. We had plenty of room for our foods and silent auction. Their wines are mostly okay. We did really enjoy their spicy, full bodied Jet's Red. Many comments from others reflected a sweetness to most of the whites, but people liked the Chardonnay Reserve. Definitely enjoyed the wine tasting at Cassidy Hill. The vineyard itself was beautiful but I wish there were more outdoor seating options (I'm spoiled from the other CT vineyards with large patios) beyond a few scattered picnic tables. I'd love to come out more in the warm weather! I sampled several Cassidy Hill wines, from a lightly oaked 2010 Chardonnay to the Jet's Red which I really enjoyed-- described as "a fruit forward red wine with cherry, blueberry, cinnamon and clove aromas and a jammy flavor, with hints of spice and mocha." Um, yes please. Logo glasses were available for $3 extra, which I didn't opt for (usually wineries include these with the tasting) but the tasting was only $6 so it was a decent deal. While the outdoor seating options were scarce, this winery is PERFECT for colder weather visits. The rustic log-cabin feel is supremely cozy and conducive to serious relaxation in a gorgeous setting. I'm a fan. I definitely enjoyed the wines and I'm glad to have a winery closer to me than having to go all the way out to Litchfield. I'll save that for the summer! read more

I went on a Sunday afternoon about 4:30pm during a spontaneous weekend adventure. Quite a scenic place with some nice outdoor seating options also. The tastings are inside an open room just inside the parking area. They offer a wide selection of six wines--four whites, two reds. All were very good; my favorites were the 2012 Riesling and the Jet's Red--the red because of the spice and the Riesling because of the unique sweetness to it that I have not experienced in any other Riesling to date. I ended up getting a couple bottles of the Riesling for myself and a gift. Tastings are $7/person--very reasonable for the generous portion-size. Overall, a great experience with very friendly and knowledgeable staff; I even got some helpful pairing suggestions for the couple wines in which I was most interested. Not a bad place to visit. This was my first visit to Cassidy Hill. The vineyard had an interesting log cabin feel to it. We opted for the tasting which costed around $7. We got to try about 6 wines - the first two whites, one of which was a Chardonnay were the best of all the offerings and were refreshing for summer drinking. For $6, we sampled six of Cassidy Hill's wines-- five whites and one red. That price didn't include a logo glass, which can be purchased for an additional $3. My favorites were the 2010 Chardonnay (described as "lightly oaked"), and the 2010 Coventry White (a blend of estate grown grapes). The final wine we tasted was the 2009 Coventry Spice, which was an odd choice for 4th of July weekend (it's a Merlot/St. Croix blend with cinnamon, described as "perfect for the holidays"), but was really good nonetheless. The white wines seemed a little under-chilled, which made it sort of difficult to get a read on some of them. The man that ran our tasting was personable and did a nice job, which we appreciated since that isn't always the case when a vineyard is super busy, and this place was packed. A band played old-timey Dixieland on the front porch, and there were dozens of people picnicking on the lawn. Since most vineyards close at 5 or 6, it was great that Cassidy Hill stayed open until 8. read more

Like most CT wineries, the property is simply breathtaking. I highly recommend visiting this area in the fall because the views are spectacular! The prices are very affordable ($6 for 6 tastings) but they do not provide a complimentary logo glass. Unlike other CT wineries, Cassidy Hill is not stingy on their pour! This was our introduction to Connecticut vineyards. The vineyard was newly open a few months earlier, and you could feel the excitement of the place. We went with a large group. The owner was very nice and gave us a great tour. Grounds: This was the best asset of the vineyard. We had so much fun walking around the vineyard. The weather on this day was overcast and misty lending a lovely and peaceful feel to the setting. Tasting: The tasting area was spacious. Even though there were a lot of people (even apart from our group), the tasting room didn't at all feel cramped. The experience was personal and relaxed. The only drawback here was actually the wines. The whites were just ok. The reds were hard to swallow. We do plan to go back eventually as the wines will probably improve as they become more experienced with their process. read more

We lucked out and made it to Cassidy Hill Vineyard on their last day before closing for the season (weekend before Christmas). They aren't year round, and make a limited supply of their wines. During the summer months they hold many evening/weekend events full of music and picnicing families - according to the staff, and I can't wait to go back during the summer months to try it out for myself. The lodge was simple, but charming. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable and personable, and the wine flights were extremely reasonably priced. The flights were $5.00 per person and included tastings of every wine they had. There were six wines available, three whites and three reds. The wines available at the time were: Winding Brook- an oaked chardonnay and viognier wine blend, 2009 Riesling, 2009 Malbec, Jet's Red(named after the winery dog...whom I didn't get to meet) - a blend of sangiovese and estate grown Chambourcin and Frontenac grapes, and last but not least, 2009 Coventry Spice - a blend of merlot and estate grown St. Croix grapes with touches of cinnamon. The only wine I didn't really enjoy was the Chardonnay - but I'm not a fan of oaked Chardonnay. Also the Coventry Spice was a nice holiday wine with the cinnamon touch. I look forward to seeing this place progress - luckily it's located in my significant other's hometown, so we won't really need much of an excuse to go there. read more

The vineyard sits on a picturesque parcel in Eastern Connecticut with beautiful vista views. They have award winning wines, including sweet whites and spicy reds. I visited Cassidy Hill Vineyard for the first time during Memorial day weekend this year. Arrived there around 3pm and the parking area seemed a bit packed, but to my surprise, the tasting room wasn't crowded. The vineyard has a lot of open space inside and out to give a larger amount of people room to spread out. The wine itself was pretty good, my favorite being Jet White. The staff themselves were great, even giving us some information about other CT vineyards. We ended up buying a bottle of Jet White and sitting outside to enjoy the nice weather. We then went for a walk along the vines(am a big fan of vineyards that give you the opportunity to do this). Overall, I would highly recommend Cassidy Hills to others. read more

what a lovely afternoon i recently spent here. the boyfriend and i are on a kick of visiting wineries, and this one was a pretty good distance (about 50 minutes) so it wasn't exactly something we could do impromptu. thankfully, we had a plan for this weekend, and it worked out well. the winery is just a few side streets off of rt 44, which i believe is CT's most beautiful road to traverse. gently winding and full of lovely sights, it makes me appreciate living here. the grounds of the winery are lush and beautiful, though fairly small. we pulled up to find many other patrons at picnic tables, and seated on the porch. our intention was to do a tasting, and then share a bottle of whatever we liked best. *note: not all the wines are available for a tasting. our tasting went well, though i will say i subtracted a star based on our service. while friendly and timely, there didn't seem to be a whole lot of knowledge or personality. we've attended other tastings which were conversational and informative. these were largely a reiteration of what was already on the wine "menu," if you will. not bad, but not as good we we've experienced elsewhere. i enjoyed all of the wines, especially the rose. it has large notes of cranberry and, though the description didn't mention it, i got a huge hit of vanilla at the start of every sip. this one was my favorite, and we did get a bottle to take home. additionally, the jet's white (a blend) was yummy. we both enjoyed. however, after a patron came in and ordered 4 bottles of the summer breeze, and another patron ordered 2 bottles to go, as well, we decided that was the bottle for us. it's similar to the jet's white, which has a huge smack of apricot flavor- this also has an infusion of strawberries. we settled on the porch in a couple rocking chairs, and proceeded to enjoy the wine. i have to say- the description was spot-on. it was exactly like the jet's white, just with a pronunciation of strawberry rather than apricot. yummy- the perfect summer wine. the view was lovely, and other patrons were enjoying themselves. in fact, a foursome of women had commandeered one of the tables for the smorgasboard that they brought with them. other tables had purchased pizza beforehand, and then arrived and bought wine, while others took advantage of the cheese and crackers that the winery sells retail to accompany their wines. we ended our experience by taking a stroll through the vineyard itself. it was great to see, and there is a tucked away park bench that seems quite the romantic spot. we would have visited, but it was currently occupied. all in all, we will definitely be back. the wine was excellent, the view lovely, and the indoors was great too! very much a log cabin, this will be a great visit on a cool day in the fall/early winter. there is a fireplace, and i'm certain it would be very relaxing to share a bottle of wine in that space, come the cooler weather. read more

Lovely winery and bonus points for proximity to Hartford. The tasting was $6 and not one of the wines were a miss- I went home with a bottle of the Coventry White. The tasting room is minimalist in decor, which is just fine with me, with exposed wood and a fireplace that makes me want to return during colder months. As Emily C said, there's not a whole lot of outdoor seating, but if you can grab a spot on their lovely covered porch, you'd be pretty well set for a relaxing afternoon.
