This is like an old man pub that's been transformed into a hipsters paradise. The decor is really cool, with the whole place lit with fairy lights, candles in candelabras and lit fireplaces, and sharpie graffiti littered on the walls, mismatched chairs and seats and large tables, lots of cool and funky art on the walls too. It's all about the board games though. They have Jenga, Connect 4, Guess Who and a few other games that you can take to a table and play with friends. It's a really fun and cool incentive to get you on and staying for longer than you may have anticipated, because you end up having such a good laugh. The music is great too, they have a wide range of genres playing throughout the evening. It's a little pricey in terms of drinks, and limited in that they don't serve cocktails or hot drinks. The staff are generally friendly, and they also serve food here. I think someone told me that they have a deal of a pizza and a beer for €10? Not too bad. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place. Also, UNREAL location!

This cider tastes like apple juice, the good kind.

GREAT SERVICE! So I only had a cider here but I've added it to my ever growing list of places to re-visit.

This place just oozes coolness, plain and simple. Decor is completely eclectic, like Emma D. has mentioned in her comment, with randomness being the central theme. At times I feel the place verging towards the hipster crowds, but generally you get a complimenting assortment of random cool folk who are friendly and willing to chat. Free crisps and lollipops are available whenever you may please, totally fab. I say the sweet and salt makes you extra thirsty and want more beer. Board games are available such as Monopoly and Jenga which are great fun to play when tipsy. Mens bathrooms are crazy as hell, like a serial killer's lair, with red paint coating the sinks, dim lighting and random writing all over the walls - fun to read though. They have a good selection of beers, usual and non-usual types. Blue Moon being quite nice with it's slice of orange. Didn't think I'd find a North American lager to be appealing, but I was wrong. They also have a beer and pizza deal here which I here is good! Overall, cool, cool, cool!

One would almost walk past Cassidy's on Westmoreland St were it not for the golden Elvis statue outside. This might not necessarily be the most helpful reference point, as he is sometimes brought inside, and the pub doesn't have an Elvis theme or anything, but I just thought I might throw it in there. Cassidy's real claim to fame is that it is owned by some unimaginably distant relatives of Bill Clinton, and that the great man himself drank a pint in the place on one of his frequent visits to Dublin in the 1990s. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it, Doyle's! The pub itself is nice inside, with the bar and surrounding area occupying the ground floor and a small lounge area. I was there for a function before, drink coupons, the whole bit, and a great night was had by all. Functions aside, it would only ever get really busy on the weekends, weeknights would be fairly quiet. Cassidy's unique selling point, though, is their basement room. I staged a table quiz there before, and the place is fantastic: it looks like a brothel from a spaghetti western, all crimson wallpaper, damask, and little lamps on all the tables. And if you're doing a student function (particularly if you're from DIT, they'll generally let you have it for free! Head down and ask for Barry, tell them that Cathal sent you ; )

06.21.15: pint of beer and 10 inch pizzas! Pepperoni on left and bacon/garlic on right

Great deal, good pizza, good beer. 1. Pizza and beer for 10€. Great price compared with other places. Only thing is the pizza is about a 10 inch personal pizza of which I could only eat half. 2. The beers you can get for that pizza/beer combo are: fosters, barrelhead Irish IPA, barrelhead something Amber, and the last one I don't remember sorry...and I may have gotten the names of the second 2 beers wrong, but just know that it's a limited selection for the pizza/beer deal. 3. If you don't eat too much like I don't, you're probably better off getting the pizza/beer combo then getting a separate beer to share with someone else. 4. They don't give takeout boxes if you don't finish your pizza so order wisely! 5. We had the pepperoni pizza and bacon and garlic. Pepperoni pizza is what it sounds: pizza with pepperoni on it and what I think were red bell pepper slices? It was also kinda spicy but in a good way. Not too spicy, just the right amount. The bacon garlic one may not sound THAT appetizing, but it's not JUST bacon and garlic. There were also mushrooms, onion, and some other ingredients so it was absolutely delicious. 6. I'm not much for the ambiance of the place: it was very dark with red candles and other interesting decor that made me feel a little uncomfortable, but it was fine cuz of the pizza deal! There are also games so you should go with friends and play games cuz the wait for pizzas is about 10-15 min. 7. Order at the counter, then they'll bring the pizza to you. All in all, I'd definitely go back but maybe sit outside.

Friendly, helpful bartenders and a lovely selection of beers! I loved the divey ambiance and the background music was perfect (70s glam and some gothy tunes). The toilets have no seats, but what did I expect? . The pizza is tasty and filling. There aren't any menus, but the bartender is happy to tell you whet pizza toppings are available.

    RedRum!!! The mens toilets...

In Cassidy's you could easily mistake that you have walked onto the movie set of Stephen Kings 'The Shining' when you go for a slash. Excuse the horror movie pun. The toilets are a cross between vandalism and interesting artwork... The drinks are interesting. The board games are interesting. The pizza and a pint deal for €10 is interesting. Overall I find the pub itself interesting. As Lloyd said to Jack Torrance in Stanley Kubrick's 1980 masterpiece "What will you be drinking, sir?" To which Jack responds "Hair of the dog that bit me, Lloyd".... This pub is a bit of a marvel with all of its oddity and curiosity, so drop on by.. sure afterall...all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Some of the Craft Beers here I have yet to see in other establishments. The line up is'nt bad at all either.

This is a cool little pub. Pretty traditional and a little on the dingy size, but it serves its purpose...namely selling booze! I hear the Guinness here is good, or so I'm told by a Guinness connoisseur friend who was with me on my most recent trip here. I am a vodka and diet 7up girl, so that's guaranteed to taste the same pretty much wherever you go, but I liked this place. No frills, just a cool pub.

I have on more than one occasion found myself trotting through Cassidy's doors for a spot of reasonably priced lunch or for a low-key student event. Yet despite its central location, I couldn't say it's somewhere I would choose for a few scoops at the weekend. I find Cassidy's a pleasant yet curious pub. Certainly on the face of it, it has the potential to achieve that kind of eclectic old fashioned/modern mesh so sought after by the hip and trendy. The menus are designed to resemble the layout of an old newspaper, a golden Elvis statue stands proudly outside the entrance, and the basement is half-decorated with old furniture and vintage lamps. But the place stops short of fully embracing its eccentricities, so for me rather than achieving a random look with a relaxed vibe, it comes across as having a bit of an identity crisis. In fairness though, whenever I've ended up here I've always enjoyed the visit. The staff are friendly, the food is nice and the drink is flowing. Can't say fairer than that.

This was total nerd heaven... Or hipster if that's what you prefer. I wouldn't say it's the place that everyone would want to go as it is extremely trendy and nerdified. That coupled with the fact that it is quite dark inside and the music is quite loud too. We were meeting a friend here and the selection of craft beers is quite large. The walls are decorated with nerdy art and graffiti (something you are encouraged to do). The furniture is all miss match with candles burning long into the night. While you're kicking back, blasting your ear drums out and chugging a pint, make sure to grab a pizza in their pizza beer deal... GREAT pizzas!! So rock up, need our, drink the night away and make your mark on the walls.

Bartenders were a bit rude and unfriendly. Very cool vibe inside though if you're looking for somewhere dark and moody.

Tucked down Dame Court just off Dame Street, The Stag's Head is one of those rare pubs that feels genuinely historic rather than designed to look old. The building dates to the late 1800s, and the interior retains the ornate features of a classic Victorian "gin palace"--rich carved wood, stained glass, brass rails, and a warm, glowing bar that feels wonderfully preserved. We stopped in around 4:30 pm, which turned out to be a perfect time to visit. There were other patrons enjoying drinks and food, but the atmosphere was calm and relaxed rather than loud or rowdy. It felt like the kind of place where locals drop in for a quiet pint on their way home from work before the evening crowd arrives. The staff were excellent--friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. The food was very good (we failed to take photos because we were too busy enjoying it). As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to see the Impossible burger front and center on their menu; it was deliciously prepared with guacamole on a brioche bun, and not an afterthought on the menu. My companions both chose the Irish Beef Burger, and said it was excellent. One thing to know: this is a traditional Victorian pub, so cocktails aren't really part of the program. Expect beer, wine, or spirits rather than mixed drinks. In a place like this, that actually feels exactly right. Other pubs do serve mixed drinks. Between the history, the ambience, the quality of the food, and the wonderful staff, The Stag's Head is the kind of place that makes you feel like you've experienced a real piece of Dublin.
