The food was good. They have a variety of steaks and potato of choice. I had a rib eye which was delicious with homemade French fries, also tasty and green beans. Also had their homemade carrot cake which was also very tasty. Our server was attentive to our needs and very friendly. The ambiance is your typical old western style themed restaurant, basically what you think a steakhouse in Wyoming would be like. This is one of the best steakhouses in Wyoming and we know because we have eaten at quite a few throughout the state. Incredible atmosphere with super great staff. The owner, Melody is fantastic and this is a place with tons of history in Cody. Great music and dancing as well if you would like. I had the tenderloin and it was spectacular and my wife had the Chicken Fried steak which was super good. Definitely recommend going here to have a great time and experience in Cody. I've eaten here a couple times before and the first two meals were beef and were very good. Tonight though, I sat at the bar as decided to have the walleye. I realize that when one chooses to eat at the bar, the service might not be as good as a dedicated server...and that's how it was. She tried hard but she was really busy at the bar. They were out of trout, prime rib, some beers, etc. The walleye, pasta side and broccoli were so bland that I had to use a lot more salt than my cardiologist would care for me to use! The live music is always good though. Every time I've been there they seem to have a local kid playing solo for tips and they're really good!! We tried Cassies on a whim, not knowing anything about it. What we found was excellent. Steaks are Wyoming normal....huge and well prepared. We had the 16oz strip and the prime rib, all great. The atmosphere and service both first class. Prices are consistent with the quality of food and service. Maybe not a family restaurant but not overpriced for the quality. I like this place. I visited several bars in Cody and this was one of the best! From what I understand, Cassie's started out as a brothel and was originally closer in to town. It eventually relocated to the edge of town, and eventually changed from the prostitution business to the steakhouse business. There are two main rooms. The room on the left is the main dining area and had a bar and live music. The room on the right is an additional dining area where another bar is located. My group chose the room on the right so i would be quieter. Though we were the only people back there, the bartender who came over to take care of us stayed there for the entire duration of our visit and she was a big part of what made it so enjoyable. She was fun and fun to talk to. We weren't planning to be here long, but instead stayed for several rounds. read more

OK I'm from NY but in 2006 we moved to Jackson Hole WY where I opened up a restaurant for about 7 years. I owned a restaurant call the Skipper In Long Island for 10 years where I played guitar and sang , also was the chef. My wife and I where blown way when we stayed in Cody one nite and had dinner and cocktails in the one of the oldest real country western restaurants dance halls in the US ,Cassie's ,It's the real deal! The food is amazing , steaks from a local ranch you can taste the difference it's enough to make a vegan into a carnivore, and the size of it! In fact everything there is just from the great from the BAR B QUE to the fish, and the size of the drinks. The chef and owner with his partners for over 30 years play some of the best live country music I have ever heard. he 2 step , where does this ever happen? One night I guess they must have seen we where city slickers a gentleman walked up to me and ask me if I would mind if he dance with my wife and I would dance with his wife and we would learn the 2 step , where does this ever happen? The best thing there happens to be the people, friendly and accommodating. I have since moved back to NY, since then I have been flying into Denver driving to Ten Sleep,do some horse back riding, stay at the great Americ Inn Wyndham hotel so I can walk back,next day drive though the Park to Jackson Hole to see some of my old friends. First the good. Wyoming people are so nice. Our server and bartenders were sweet and lovely. However the wait was interminable. We arrived before 7pm on a Monday. Put our name down and went to the bar for the 15 minute wait. That was the wait time for a beer. Great craft beers on tap. Finally got our table a little after 8. 15 minutes had became 60. I wanted chicken fried steak, but they don't have mashed potatoes. So I settled for a burger. My cheeseburger and my wife's steak were prepared properly. Good cook on the filet and the burger. But we had been there for 90 minutes. Again, the people were great. But I can't recommend this place when there are better choices in town. read more

My wife and I are traveling with friends and we are first time visitors to Cody. Someone recommended this place to us so the four of us decided to try it. The place is very rustic and kitchy. The food and drinks we had were good and our server Candy was very nice and attentive to our every need. There was also music being performed while we ate, and we enjoyed the woman who sang and had a very nice voice. I got a little creeped out by another woman who was I guess a greeter and dressed like a 1880s saloon gal. That was weird . While we all thought the food was good, and the artifacts hanging on the wall were interesting, this place needs a good deep clean, especially the men's room, in my opinion. I'm grateful that I wasn't offered a tour of the kitchen. If I'm ever back here again this place wouldn't be a choice I would make. read more

Cassie's: A rollicking good time steakhouse where the food is plentiful, and the patrons are characters straight out of a Louis L' Amour novel. If you ever find yourself hungry for a hunk-a-chunk o' seared dead cow meat in Cody, Wyoming, Cassie's is the place to go. The servers are excellent, the food is plentiful--if not really all that great--but the live music and country western dancing is what takes the cake, for sure. Had their Rocky Mtn oysters to start (in the form of deep fried potato chip lookin' creations), along with fried pickles (surprisingly made from sweet pickle chips, but still pretty good). Most of us had their steaks which were advertised as being "prime or choice." My guess is that the 22 oz. bone-in rib eye that I selected was, at most, "choice," because, aside from being done a little more than I'd asked, it didn't have that great a flavor or marbling, which is unusual in a rib eye. The slightly overcooked potato, along with the fact that Caesar salad came drowned in too much dressing, made this place worth only 3 stars at most. Why, you're asking, was it worth even that, given the above description? Well, Cassie's turns out to be about one of the most fun, rockin' cowboy spots in town. They've got live piano music performed by a guy as cool and weathered as Willie Nelson, who was followed by an outstanding country western band that did an incredible job on all the old standards. The band area is fronted by a 25' x 25' fenced-off dance floor that gets flooded with high-steppin' really accomplished dancers of all styles, from Texas Two-Steppers to polka-jivin' locals who obviously love the place. The bar area (directly open to the dining room space) was so cool that it alone would have elevated Cassie's to 4 stars if it hadn't been for that Goose Canyon be-jacketed motorcycle rider who kept asking my wife to dance every time I went up to get a drink. While she thought it was pretty funny, me . . . not so much. Made me think I should order by the pitcher the next time. read more

My wife and I went here because of the stars. The place is very cool inside. The server was new and she was trying. Then the food started coming out. The wedge salad is a wedge of iceberg with some kind of dressing. Not blue cheese. We love a good wedge salad. This wasn't it. My wife ordered blackened salmon. The server heard bourbon salmon. Not a huge deal. As I always say "It happens". She took it back and brought out blackened salmon. They must have scraped the bourbon sauce off and sprinkled blackening seasoning on and seared it. They left the bourbon sauce and nuts on the plate. It was over done and tasted like blackened bourbon salmon. Not a good combo. I ordered a ribeye. Being from CA, we don't know much about beef or steaks, but I do know a ribeye should have some marbling. That was leanest ribeye I ever saw. Tough and for the first time in my life, I didn't finish a steak. That says a lot. The sides were the best part of the meal. Fix your entrees. Don't over cook your salmon and find some better quality meat. read more

Nice little stop with Live music on a Saturday night after or trip to Yellowstone. Unfortunately the service end of the equation of having dinner, didn't go too well . Sitting at the bar with Ana proved problematic at best. We said upfront that we wanted to unwind and were in no rush. We ordered a Large Caesar Salad (decent) and an 8oz Fillet Migon with the specific request to have our salad first, followed by our entree. We'll the salad got served and two minutes later came the Steak. I said that we really wanted to enjoy our salad first and could she please hold our steak until we finished. BANG, the sh.t show started about being rude Tourists. Ana took the steak back and after I finished my salad , although my other half was still eating hers , someone else dropped the Platter without a word . Nope, not a word the rest of the night. No "How was your dinner?", No "Can I clear your plates?" , No "Would you like anything else?" No nothing but nasty stares. Nope, it gets worse . When we finally got our check, we were overcharged for the number of beers we had. M had 2 and I had 2 and a glass of wine with my dinner. A simple mistake, I thought and said as much, until I mentioned it and was confronted, I reiterate confronted ! by someone else, never identifying themselves, who said that we were rude and when she reviewed the "Tapes" that it would show how wrong we were . By this time the word had spread about the Tourists , and half the staff was waiting for the73 year old Easterer to jump across the bar . Too funny. . We were looking for some Good red meat for lunch. If you are, too, don't go here. The service was slow, the flies were numerous, the steak sandwich came over cooked and so tough I Could not eat it. My wife ordered the grilled steak salad. It was properly cooked but chewy. The salad was good as was the salad dressing. Best Prime Rib you will ever have. Cassie's was recommended to us and are we glad we gave it a try. The service was great, the atmosphere is very western and the DJ that sang old western music really topped off the dining experience. The Prime Rib was tender, juicy, cooked perfectly and loaded with flavor, you will not beat this Prime Rib anywhere. My husband and I ate at Cassie's last night. We had wanted Prime Rib but they were out so we ordered Rib Eye for me and T bone for my husband. Both were perfectly cooked at Medium Rare. The salads were fresh and just the right size. Bread and honey butter delicious!!! The band was not too loud so it made for a lovely atmosphere. We would definitely go back again if we make it back to Cody. They have a collection of turquoise jewelry for sale made by the cook that was beautiful and all one of a kind. BEST STEAKS in Wyoming is what they claim. Well I'll tell you what next time I'm in Wyoming I'll go to Applebee's for a steak. I ordered the 22oz bone in ribeye cook medium rare. It looked fine but the knife would hardly cut the steak as the knife was very dull and the steak was cooked rare. The steak came on a hot plate and the server warns you how hot the plate is and not to touch it but my plate was luke warm at best and the steak was no better. Holy cow, I miss this place! The decoration was unique--rustic, charming, with taxidermy crowding the wall fighting for your attention (hah!). Live music available on Friday and Saturday from 7-9 with a dance floor. Color sheets and crayons are available for the youngin's. There are also pool tables by the bar. We arrived about 5 or 6 and were able to walk in and be seated immediately. We were asked if we had a reservation and didn't realize how busy this place gets. We later learned it gets quite packed, as evident by the crowd waiting outside when we were leaving. We ordered Elk Medallion and Ribs. Both were delicious. Portions were huge. Even with 3 people sharing two dishes, we had leftover. Elk Medallion was soooooo good. So tender. So flavorful. So perfectly cooked. Protein and carb complemented each other so well. Ribs were good, but being one spoiled with meat falling off the bone, I struggled to get the meat off the bones. I also wish they allowed for replacing the side potato with a green vegetable. Oh, and if you order the potato to be loaded, it's an additional charge of, I think, 3 dollars. Service was a bit slow, but I'm in the country so what the hey...life can slow down a bit. Our server was Kira and she was a sweetheart. She seemed quite busy, but she checked in on us every so often and made sure we were taken care of as much as possible. Don't bother asking for alcohol recommendation as they're all quite young. I later learned that this place was once featured on the Travel channel. When we arrived we were told that there was a 45 minute wait. We sat at the bar to wait. After about an hour we left. Cassie's is a unique and fun dining experience. Housed in a former bordello, it has character--from the décor to the entertainment to the food. We both ordered the prime rib with side salad and baked potato. The salad was good, the prime rib and baked potato were perfectly prepared and served piping hot. So many places serve less than "prime" prime rib, which is tough and not very flavorful. Not Cassie's. The meat was tender and delicious. Although it was a very crowded Saturday night, the service was excellent. We were never forgotten, with staff checking to see if we needed anything else. On top of the great food, we were treated to live music by a local country band. The music added to the ambiance and it was a joy to see people get up and dance to the toe-tapping good tunes! My fiancé & I had dinner on May 28, 2022 that was not an enjoyable evening. The table was sticky, silverware was worn, and our meals were not enjoyable. The salad had a slice of carrot & 1 little tomato rest was lettuce. The baked potato was hard not cooked throughout. Our tenderloin steaks had so much gristle we could not eat them.
