I won a gift card through the citrus County Chronicle to castaways... I've drove by there so many times but I never stopped and I always heard they had good wings. So after winning the gift card, I decided to stop in and I had the mango habanero wings! They were fantastic!! There were several old timers in there and I had fantastic conversation also. Mary, the bartender was very sweet and on top of her game. So I paid with my gift card and they tell me that the gift card was issued in 2023 but they were gonna honor it since I was a big winner. They didn't have to do that but they did and I'm glad! I will be returning for more wings and fantastic conversation. Thank you so much castaways for making my first time visit there a great visit and eating the cost of my wings because the gift card was from a previous owner donation. Thank you!!!! The BEST Ruben in Crystal River. Their ice tea was very refreshing as well. Fast and friendly staff. Even gave me a cup of pickle juice to help me with cramping. read more

Castaways is under new ownership, bar is much cleaner, brand new staff, everyone is happier now. Great atmosphere. We got .60 cent Wednesday wings. Come in and check out a whole new menu. Enjoy karaoke, free pool on Tuesdays getting a dart board soon. Also have a tiki bar which will be opening up soon, Thursday thru Saturday til 2am. Menu says they're famous for their burgers and wings. We got the wings, which were $10 for 10 tiny wings with pretty average buffalo sauce. However, they apparently have 45 cent wings on Wednesdays and $6.49 steak night on Mondays, and for 45 cents, I'd say yeah, they'd be worth it. read more

This bar definitely needs an updated review. Recently changed hands, 100% turn around. Great food, good prices, and the dollar draft special comes in a frosted mug. Many locals which tells a story in itself. Definitely one of the best values in the area. Also, very clean. read more

The the stars are for the bartender. But $5.00 for a 12 oz twisted tea is ridiculous. WAY OVER PRICED!!!!! TAKE LOTS OF MONEY!!!!!!!

Definitely not impressed, bar area is not wiped down between customers leaving and coming on one occasion I used my debit card and was charged $10.00 more than my bill and on my next and last visit I ordered a twisted tea and paid with a $20.00 dollar bill about a half hour later no change so I mentioned it to the bartender her response, oh I am so glad you caught it I would have got in trouble for a over tilt same bartender, glasses and a little over weight be where! On the other side the other bartender were very good and left me leaving in a good mood, mind you I always leave at least a five dollar tip, hope this person is replaced would make it a better place for everyone! I was in this establishment last night on August 17th. Honestly, I have never seen such a horrible display disrespect from an owner of a place. First, when I went to grab a bud light some lady put her arm around me twice making me feel extremely uncomfortable. I should have left at this time but I guess I stayed because I assumed that would be all. My brother and I sat down and I ordered some food from their menu. All of sudden, a bar fight happened and some guy went outside with a glass mug. The bartender went to the door with a stick and my brother saw and did not want her to get hurt so told her to stay inside. He went outside to deescalate the situation. He tried to come back in and wound up that he was kicked out and then when I went outside to find out what was happening the owner then told me that I was committing a felony and that I needed to leave and never come back. Apparently the guy who started the bar fight and was throwing bottles outside tried to throw a bottle at my brother and when my brother decided to defend himself the owner stated that he could shoot him (my brother) I was inside eating and when I came out I was threatened by the owner. He told me I needed to leave and I wasn't even outside, didn't even give a crap that I could have been drunk. Luckily I only had one beer over the course of an hour so I was okay to drive. The young girls at the bar were very personable but honestly this whole situation shows that the clientele is criminalistic and that the bar owner allows people who start bar fights to rule the bar. This has to be the most sketchy bar I have ever encountered. I do not appreciate being threatened and yelled at when I was not even outside during this whole ordeal. I will never go back here solely based on the fact that this place has to be the thrashiest place I have ever stepped foot in. Also the young bartenders behind the bar deserve to be in treated with more respect and class not have all these low life clients staring at them like they have never seen a woman before. This owner lacks customer service skills and has to be the most disrespectful piece of work I ever met. I have never been treated that way at any establishment. Go to Kelly's down the road a much classier establishment. read more

It can be a fun place, but like any local hang out, it has it's issues. Decent food for a bar. One thing, if you're drinking and running a tab, be mindful of what you're spending. Not saying the bartenders are stealing, but maybe just aren't very good at math. read more

Not bad, came on Wednesday cause wings are 10 for $5 then, tasted pretty decent, might come back again
