Visiting from out of town and thought this would be a good place since it was recommended by the AirBNB host. It reminds me more of a bar from the late 80s. The decor and atmosphere just felt dated and drank. The atmosphere was extremely hot and humid. By all means, if that is what they were going for then they did succeed. But it all comes down to food. It was just okay. Nothing exceptional or even good. I felt it was just okay. The menu truly made no sense. It's supposed to be a pub feel but there is burgers, spaghetti, fajitas and then Indian food. It is all over the place. The Chicken Tikka was not flavored at all like authentic Indian food. The naan came out cold and flavorless. Think thicker flour tortilla . Service wasn't bad. Our waitress Liz was polite and continued to check on us. Blackened Grouper, or was it? I've eaten a lot of grouper and the piece of fish I received was questionable. Fish was blackened on one side, tasty but definitely lacked in portion size. The Gruffs signature yellow rice was absolutely TERRIBLE, it was mushy, mealy, tasteless and was barely warm. Spouses rice was 100% better, nit great but better. Green beans with Garlic was over seasoned with garlic, could nit eat a second fork of the green beans. Seeing good reviews, nice pictures online was the reason to try Gruffs, however inside was different, staff wearing Dasiy Duke shorts, ripped/torn jeans, and Gruff T shirts , dirty restrooms and the whole restaurant needing a deep cleaning is the reason for a less than OK review. read more

We have been here a few times and the food is usually good. Not great, good. The atmosphere is horrible. The bathrooms are old and ugly. But this visit with my mom was a disappointment. The server was great. The kitchen sucked. The manager couldn't even be bothered to come talk with us. I left without eating because the kitchen couldn't figure out how to make a simple mixture of garlic and butter. I left a fb message. The go to place in Dunnellen FL for an American style restaurant with an Indian food option. Generally crowded but short (if any) wait it is the quintessential local restaurant. The food is always good, the service prompt even during busy hours and the tap room is an enjoyable place to have a drink and snack food with plenty of sports on televisions to distract you if desired. Very got to eat. We are not picky but this place had a bad vibe and stood there for a while with staff walking by a lot with not even eye contact, same thing at the table for a while so we left. My entree came with fries that tasted like they were fried in old oil and kept warm under a light. The prime rib special stated 12oz. For $22. Not overly impressed! To start, there were four of us, we went with friends who are regulars, so to speak, and rave about the steaks! We were shown to a very tight booth, that hardly fit us, and none of us are big boned! Since our friends go there often, I did not ask to be reseated.... awkward it would have been! So 2 checked but almost identical orders, steaks around, 3 had salad, 1baked potato, 2 rice, 1 mashed. One had a green vegetable instead of salad, 2 ice teas, one water, one Diet Coke. Nothing came out right! We were a salad short, waitress had to be found... the vegetable was served with the wrong potato to a salad person, the person who sho have had the vegetable got soup.....every order was written separately and repeated! The steaks my husband and I had were far from quality cuts, very fatty and grizzly, and they were different sizes and cuts(as ordered, and admittedly, prepared correctly). When the waitress, who was pleasant, and made a joke about all the mix ups, came back, finally, to check, she tried to make it all right... Not impressed. We just moved here and this place is a gem. The food is really good, with quality, fresh products and the waitresses understood what excellent customer service is. Great place to sit and have a meal with friends after a long day on the water. Originally came here because they had a coke and rum special going and I ended up staying because they were doing $.50 tradition wings. They have a good amount of indoor seating and some outdoor seating. The indoor seating a a lot of booths that sit four. If you have a larger group they'll have to put some tables together but no buggy. The servers here are nice and helpful with the menu. The menu is pretty unique and had a little bit of everything. Lots of genre l of food to be had here and with so many option it makes me question how good it all is. Anyways I had the wings and they were great! Nothing out of this world but definitely hit the spot and not crazy expensive. Sweet potato fries on the side with a dash of powdered sugar really helped to fill me up. Getting very disappointed with Gruffs. They raised the price and the food portions have gotten smaller. You get 6 medium coconut shrimp when everywhere else gives you 12. The dining area is closed off a lot so you have to sit in the bar area where the service sucks and the music is sometimes ridiculously loud! The chicken breast meal says 2 chicken breasts and it is ONE breast cut down the middle and VERY small! It will be a while before we go back now. read more

Was visiting a friend and we stopped by this restaurant. We were greeted and sat right away. The server was as friendly as it gets and definitely on point. She was very polite and had great suggestions. I had the western bbq burger that was absolutely amazing! My friend had the steak salad and wings and we also splurged for some cheese steak fries! This was the worse restaurant that I have ever been in. I traveled from Massachusetts by car and stopped at some amazing restaurants. The owner was drinking at the end of the bar, our meal came out 2 hours late (supposedly) the ticket never went into the kitchen. The waitress was great and very accommodating and wanted to pay FROM HER POCKET a round of drinks. I have worked in many restaurants and when I felt my customers were not be given the best service I would tell the manager and we would either comp the meal or send over a round of drinks. The owner of this restaurant did not care about his patrons. I ordered fish and chips and got fish sticks!!!!!!!!! The Indian food was to die for -- our group had three types of Chicken curry and liked the mild version the best but all were excellent. Loved the plate of nan, curry soup and other bread and rice that accompanied the chicken curry. Yum! The decor wasn't Indian but it was pleasant. Had the chicken vindaloo and samosas. Fresh, tasty, and spicy, the crust was done nicely both on the samosas and also under the taco salad that someone else at the table had. Service was attentive and the hostess came by each table to make certain everyone was satisfied. Decor is dated but clean. Make sure to check your bill, I was accidentally charged for a hamburger I didn't order. Quickly fixed though with apologies, so all in all, I can't wait to go back and work my way through the menu. read more

I visited this establishment over the weekend and was so disappointed. We asked the manager where our meals were after an hour of waiting. The manager and the waitress had a pow-wow and decided that the ticket never made it to the kitchen. The manager left the waitress to deliver the news, and seemed unconcerned with speaking with us. Once the meals were delivered, the waitress offered to pay for it, but the manager did not offer to make any effort to correct the issue. These problems all stem from mismanagement. When something goes wrong, it always falls to the management to make it right, but he had no desire to do that. I witnessed waitresses serving three draft beers with her fingers inside the cups. Luckily, I didn't order one or it would have been sent back. Again, the management is responsible for training, and ultimately the satisfaction of the clientele. Very disappointed, and they will never get another dime from me again. read more

My sisters and I stopped in at Gruffs Tab & Grill because it was close to where we were staying, it was late and we just wanted something easy. The posted close time said 10pm, and we came in around 9:15pm. They told us that they were just about to close the kitchen but would serve us. They didn't seem happy about it. We were confused since the time posted was 10pm. We sat down and reviewed the menu. There were WAY too many things on the menu and it was all over the place. BBQ, burgers, mexican, Indian, and so on. I always ask for recommendations and the waitress said their burgers were good and so was the Indian, but she did not recommend the BBQ. After we ordered, another person came over to tell us they were closing the kitchen and wanted to make sure we didn't want to order more food. I'm not sure how a business can stay in business if they don't serve food until their posted time. What if we came in 10 minutes later? They would have missed out on our business. The food was mediocre. I ordered the Indian (Chicken Tikka Masala), one sister ordered quesadillas, and the other ordered a burger. The burger was the best of the three dishes. We were very disappointed and throughout the rest of our trip kept saying we wished we didn't waste a dinner on this place when there are much better places in Dunnellon. We were in Dunnellon for a Boat Race on 4-10-21 and happened by Gruff's Tap & Grille. This place is a hidden gem. We walked in 3 Adults and 3 kids. What a friendly staff and people. The waitress's were awesome, people around you would say Hi (imagine that). We all ordered, food came out great and it was top quality. I heard this was a family owed business and you could tell.
