There was one server and she was great. I don't eat red meat so when I ordered the turkey she said they were out and suggested chicken breast. So I went with it. It was average. No seasonings. The okra was great. The Mac n cheese was eh. There were kids in the back room I'm assuming belonging to an employee or kept yelling and crying so that was a tad annoying. The place was clean. Nothing fancy. My husband got the two meat combo and he was given the end piece of ribs that he had to cut apart himself. He wasn't a fan of his ribs and esp for the price. read more

My wife and I ate here on Saturday afternoon. We moved here after spending the last 20 years in South Georgia. We decided to try the Brunswick stew. It was very different than we were used to. I had the pulled pork sandwich which was very good. My wife had the Mac and cheese which she said was good but not very smoky. We have driven past this place so many times and last night I was looking on Yelp, of course, and it came up, so we went! The inside is better than most bbq restaurants, albeit pretty quiet. I really hope this review helps because we will definitely be back. We got carryouts, which is typically not great for bbq sides, but the smoked Mac 'n cheese was great and the southern green beans were great in flavor, but I was expecting cooked down green beans like my grandma used to make and these were al dente. Don't get me wrong, the flavor is what matters to me - I'm not one of those people, you know who yo uh are(!) that care about consistency. Like peas - so they're mushy, who cares? The pulled pork sandwich was awesome and the sauces were fantastic! My husband picked out 2 for me - so I used both, and could bite right into and through the meat - super tender and no gristle or fat - Super yummy! I wish I had taken a pic but I was starving and the creative side of my brain shuts down when I'm hungry! They also sell for a family style carry out (or probably eat-in also) of meats and sides, so there is no excuse! We came by on a Friday about 1 and the place was empty. We have been here before and again had a good lunch. We were given complimentary pork rinds which my better half really enjoyed. We had zucchini fries which were really good with all the different bbq sauces. Our lunch was a pulled pork sandwich and macaroni salad. The portion was very large and was priced fairly. The macaroni salad was good along with the pork. We also had a pulled pork salad. It was good and liked the extra tomato, cucumber, croutons and cheese. The golden bbq made a great dressing. The bathrooms are large and clean and like the have a hook for your purse in the ladies room. We will be by for lunch again. read more

It was surprisingly not busy when we stopped in after kayaking. That usually makes people skeptical, but this was some of the best BBQ we have ever had. We had the pulled pork, brisket, ribs, fried, fried okra, smoked Mac n cheese, greens, and baked beans. They also have 4 bbq sauces plus a mustard base one that were delicious. The waitress was amazing and the inside was super cute with a log cabin feel to it. My whole family of 6 adults would highly recommend this place if you are looking for some delicious bbq. read more

We were out and about and saw this place was new and getting good reviews, so decided to try it. The food was hit and miss for us. The good: My pulled pork sandwich on toast was good. The fries were tasty. The bad: The Mac and cheese I got as a side was a little meh for me. It was dry, clumped up and rubbery. I like my Mac a little creamy. The ugly: My wife ordered her burger medium well, and it came well done. And I mean WELL DONE. It was dry and chewy. It might have had a chance if it had been cooked properly. Hamburger is pretty forgiving, so you have to work at it to make it that dry. There are a lot of BBQ places out there that we like, so I don't anticipate we'll be back. read more

This was my first time visiting this restaurant and I feel as though I was deceived with my order. I called up and ordered the Brisket dinner To-Go. I told the woman who answered the phone that I prefer my brisket on the fattier side. She informed me that the brisket has absolutely no fat on it, which confused me because the fat is what gives brisket its juicyness, flavor, and tenderness. She swore to me that the brisket would still be tender, flavorful, and upto my expectations, and she also added that it's her favorite meat at the restaurant, as well as the fries. I ended up ordering it with the Mac and Cheese, and fries as my two sides. Upon arrival, I waited at the counter for a few minutes. When the lady behind the counter noticed me, she asked me if I was there for the brisket dinner, and I told her yes. After she finished bagging my meal, sauces and utensils up, she told me that their was an Au Jus sauce with my brisket just in case I needed it. The brisket meat was cold and extremely dry. I am providing pictures. If you zoom in, it looks as if it had been precut and sitting for a very long time. It literally looks like leather. I didn't finish eating the meat because it was too tough and dry. This is a complete disappointment, especially for a $25 meal that I was treating myself to. The fries were good, and the Mac and Cheese was also good, but it could have had more cheese in it rather than a small amount of cream sauce in it. The amounts for both sides were very small, especially for something the restaurant charges $5.50 a piece for. I feel as though I paid $25 for a small amount of fries and some Mac and Cheese. The garlic bread was surprisingly very tasty. I was hesitant about ordering the brisket, but the lady who answered the phone reassured me of my concerns. If she had been honest, I would have made a secondary choice for the Baby Back Ribs or Half Chicken Dinner, since you can't go wrong with those. But unfortunately I won't know if those were good or not, because I was given low quality food that had been clearly sitting out to dry all day and I am now out $25, which isn't a small amount of money for me. I reached out to the restaurant on Facebook on August 12th. I received a response on August 13th from someone at the restaurant apologizing and offering to make things right. They expressed that they did not want me to "blast them," or leave them a bad review on social media. They thanked me for giving them a chance to correct the matter. When I responded back accepting their apology and their offer to make things right, they left me on read and didn't respond. It is now September 3rd and I have reached out 3 separate times since then and have been ignored, so I guess I have my real answer and it is clear the intentions to correct any issues were not true. At this point, I feel it is only right for me to leave an honest review about my experience now. This situation was poorly handled. read more

This BBQ restaurant respects its customers and serves its bbq trimmed of fat. I'm fussy and get very upset at bbq places that serve chunks of fat and gristle in their dishes. My family got to this place after a while of searching for food, and were pleasantly surprised. Despite the empty parking lot, the brisket and service was good. Waiter got out quickly and was very nice. A good stop on the way for a quick bite. The brisket was the main attractor, with the rest of the food being okay. We had no idea where to stop while traveling through the area and happened to come upon the Crystal River Smokehouse. We were so glad we did because the food was great! Flavorful, not fatty grisel but delicious smoked brisket and chicken. We also enjoyed the green beans, collard greens, baked potato, salad, and sweet potato fries. The next time we travel through we will definitely be back! Service was great too! Absolutely the BEST barbecue in Citrus County...which means that I no longer have to drive to Chiefland to get great ribs. Their baby backs were amazing with a wonderful smoked flavor and no gaminess (which would make them inedible to me). The sliced pork was delicious too and the sides were incredibly tasty. My favorites were the best barbecue baked beans that I've had EVER. The macaroni and cheese I've always rejected at every restaurant I've gone to...except for this one. The potato salad was tasty with a good potato flavor (no mustard, thank God) and the coleslaw as tangy sweet. I'll be ordering the beef brisket and the smoked turkey to go NEXT. A++ and our new 'go to' place exclusively for barbecue. I'm trying their poppers next too and the New York Strip steak is reasonably priced and I'm sure will be magnificent. A must try and I am thankful that they are close to where we live...because this will be "our place" for barbecue and the only barbecue place that fully passes all my taste bud requirements here. I lived in NC for the first 45 years of my life. Smoking Butts was just one of things you learned as part of life. Sort of like getting your Drivers License. I have eaten so many different styles (hundreds) of BBQ in my lifetime and I must say that this is certainly in the top 3 ever. The Brisket, Pork and Ribs are absolutely perfect.
