Lived in New Orleans for a few years in my 20s and worked in a French Quarter restaurant. My in laws live near by this place and have been wanting to bring me for years to get my opinion. We started with Boudin Balls which are my favorite but no one else had had before but all enjoyed. My wife had the bourbon chicken sandwich that she felt was meh/10 but she loved the jambalaya side and wished she'd gotten a whole dinner of that. I had the shrimp po boy. Wanted the traditional dressed version so swapped mayo for the mustard. Shrimp was excellently fried. Agree with my wife the jambalaya was great but the red beans were not very tender and when I asked for sugar for the beans (it's a real thing) they brought out three varieties of fake sugar and no real ones. Think we got pecan pie and bread pudding for dessert and both were good. Would definitely come back. read more

We waited for 50 minutes and after seeing a few tables seated that were here WAY after us, I asked the hostess where we were in line and was told there is a "add to wait list online option". We were finally seated and our waitress Angela B was far from friendly or welcoming. We ordered a few things to share... the Catfish Louisianne and gumbo were disappointing. The étouffée was extremely salty, the catfish was muddy, and the crab cake was 99% breading. The gumbo was thick like gravy and bland. The collards, cornbread, and sellers shrimp were good (the cornbread was the best out of everything). We would not come back or recommend this place to anyone. read more

Our boat captain and guide recommended this restaurant for great seafood, and he's never steered us wrong when it comes to places to stay or things to do. So when Captain Bryan suggested this spot, we knew it was worth a visit..and he was absolutely right. I live in Florida and eat a lot of seafood, but this place truly stands out. The crab cakes practically melt in your mouth...big, tender chunks of crab with just enough breading to hold them together. I ordered the blackened scallops with collard greens, and wow... the South must have a secret, because they were some of the best greens I've ever had. We also took some beignets to go, served with raspberry and chocolate sauces on the side. Be sure to eat them warm--and maybe share--because you'll be tempted to finish the whole tray yourself. Tucked in strip mall, a stones throw from Three Sisters Spring is this great spot. Do they have a seafood counter to sell fresh seafood to go - Yes. Do they have an amazing bar and indoor seating - Yes. Do they prepare amazing takeout seafood dishes - Yes. I had the shrimp po-boy. Incredibly fresh and plump shrimp, fresh (and crisp) lettuce, excellent seasoned Mardi Gras mustard. Hush puppies on the side were also great. SSC has incredible food at well below market prices. I was at a seafood dive next to a marina and spent 1/3 more and got less food that was not nearly as tasty. If you are anywhere near Crystal River, make the drive over, you will be glad you did! read more

We had a good time at this seafood restaurant, but the food was overwhelmingly salty. I got the fried crawfish tacos, which thankfully were not salty and very tasty, and everyone in the group all agreed that I had ordered the best-tasting dish. Some of the dishes others had ordered were very salty. I got my tacos with a side of jambalaya, which tasted good in the first bite, but then the saltiness started getting to me. It would have been so good if there were less sodium. This was the same case with the crawfish etoufee. The flavours were good, but it was overwhelmingly salty. My friends shared oysters, and there was a good BOGO deal for oysters by the dozen. They happily slurped them up. We visit Seafood Sellers every time we visit Crystal River. The food is always as good as the last time we visited. We really enjoy the bacon oysters. We had the grilled scallops, crab cakes and soft shell crabs. All were perfectly cooked and all plates were completely cleared! The waitress was very attentive checking in our is making sure we had what we needed. The restaurant is in a strip mall so be looking out for it. Good Cajun food in Crystal River! Although, I did read a review that the food was a bit too salty and I will have to agree that the flavors may be a bit better without the extra salt. We had the Blue Crab Claws, Grouper Nuggets, Crawfish Etouffee, and Jambalaya. I probably would have been happier with Gumbo over the Jambalaya, but I recently had Gumbo so wanted something different. And my husband loved the sauce in the Etouffee, and his only complaint was that there was not enough crawfish. For dessert we had beignets. It was not Cafe du Monde, but they were good and we devoured them. The restaurant is in a strip mall but it's busy and lively. Our server was excellent and efficient. From the outside it may look like your average strip mall joint. BUT - it is much more than that. A hidden gem if you will. Brought our catch of scallops and grunt. Had the scallops sautéed with garlic butter, the grunt was blackened, grilled and then Louisianne style. That roux sauce was exceptional. So much so that we asked for an extra bowl to pour over our scallops. Our sides included hush puppies, jalepeno cornbread and red beans and rice. It is rare that I say EVERYTHING was fantastic. Truth is - I highly recommend this place to everyone staying in crystal river. Have fresh caught scallops or fish? Bring them in. Have the kitchen prepare it. You will not be disappointed. Visited the Ocala location twice and was very happy with service and quality. I figured I found my go to seafood and fried oyster place after relocating from West Palm. Saw on the web that the Crystal River Location was serving a beautiful fried snapper, and decided to treat my wife to one of her favorites. Well after an hour wait for a table we are told there is no snapper. So, since we had waited and were hungry ordered a shrimp dish and the bogo of raw oysters. Turned out to be the worst oysters of my life ( 75 years ) poorly shucked, terrible plating job and on top of it all the oysters had been rinsed after shucking and were 100% tasteless. What a waste of time and money. Now I will also hesitate to visit the Ocala location again and look for seafood elsewhere. We enjoyed chatting with her. The place has a cute older nostalgia to it. We arrived a little after 1 pm and were seated immediately at a kind of multi person table. I had the garlic mashed potatoes and they too were outstanding. My wife had the gluten free salad and Mahi. She liked it all. Then, a very generous person sitting nearby at the bar with us (sitting at the bar will get you seated faster) an oyster that was made with bacon and cheese. Driving through Crystal River, we wanted to have seafood, and this was an incredible find. We had the littleneck clam for $22 and had $5 off that day for specials, and they were sweet. I can easily eat a hundred of these. We shared a bowl of jambalaya, and it was great and quite addictive. Then, I had grilled mahi-mahi, light and delicious. The collard greens were one of the best I've ever had. Then, BF had the blackened grouper, and he loved it! We also shared an extra order of grilled shrimp, and it was tasty too. This is a gem. When we left at 5:30 p.m., there was a long wait for people to be seated. Service was friendly and had a fun atmosphere. They do add automatic 20% gratuity to your bill, so be careful that you don't tip twice. But, you can always add more tip if you like. Took away 1 star, because tipping should be a personal choice based on service. And I do tip generously. read more

We went there for lunch today. It was very busy and there was about a half hour wait. The girls that greeted us were very polite and friendly. Once seated our waitress was greeted us and was very friendly. Out cocktails came quickly as well as our appetizer. Seared Ahi Tuna. Which was a perfect start to our meal. Visiting from Lakeland, our friends brought us in for dinner tonight. Incredible. The only way to explain the food, service and atmosphere of Seafood Seller. BOGO oysters were plump from Texas. The whole fried hogfish was fresh with a crispy skin. The star of the show was my Catfish Louisianne, absolutely phenomenal. 2 perfectly cooked catfish filets, 1 homemade crab cake, topped with deliciously salty crawfish étouffée was the best thing I've eaten in a long while. While the rest of our Scout troop was working on their scuba certifications, we two chaperones who were already certified divers got a recommendation from the scuba shop, and went for lunch at the Seafood Seller & Café. The restaurant was packed when we arrived, but the wait for a table was surprisingly short. My buddy ordered the chicken sandwich and a coke, while I got the soft shelled crab dinner with a jambalaya side and an unsweetened tea, plus a stuffed mushroom appetizer to share. Before tax and tip, our bill totaled $49.50, which felt appropriate given what we ordered. Given how crowed the restaurant was, we expected our food to take forever, but the stuffed mushrooms came out pretty quickly. Although not huge, we found them to be good sized, tender, and well-stuffed with deliciousness. After a surprisingly short wait (their kitchen staff had to be hopping in order to cook and plate so many meals that quickly!), our lunches arrived and they looked really good! My fellow scuba diver described his chicken sandwich as being juicy and delicious, while my soft shelled crab looked like it had molted that morning, been plucked out of the ocean and then cleaned, battered, fried up and delivered straight to me! Additionally, the jambalaya side was thick, rich, and absolutely delicious! Completing our meal was the very good service we received from Elani, who checked-in with us often (despite having a ton of tables), and kept our drinks refilled. PROS: very good to excellent food, descent portions, attentive service CONS: no real issues, as good food is not cheap!
