Blacken scallops with collard greens on the side

Our boat captain and guide recommended this restaurant for great seafood, and he's never steered us wrong when it comes to places to stay or things to do. So when Captain Bryan suggested this spot, we knew it was worth a visit..and he was absolutely right. I live in Florida and eat a lot of seafood, but this place truly stands out. The crab cakes practically melt in your mouth...big, tender chunks of crab with just enough breading to hold them together. I ordered the blackened scallops with collard greens, and wow... the South must have a secret, because they were some of the best greens I've ever had. We also took some beignets to go, served with raspberry and chocolate sauces on the side. Be sure to eat them warm--and maybe share--because you'll be tempted to finish the whole tray yourself. We're already looking forward to coming back this winter to try more of the menu. Highly recommended.

We visit Seafood Sellers every time we visit Crystal River. The food is always as good as the last time we visited. We really enjoy the bacon oysters. We had the grilled scallops, crab cakes and soft shell crabs. All were perfectly cooked and all plates were completely cleared! The waitress was very attentive checking in our is making sure we had what we needed. The restaurant is in a strip mall so be looking out for it. There is a combination of boots and tables along with the bar for seating. This is a very nice restaurant that feels like home. Definitely recommend this to everyone we meet

    Fried crawfish tacos and Jambalaya
    Carrie M.

We had a good time at this seafood restaurant, but the food was overwhelmingly salty. I got the fried crawfish tacos, which thankfully were not salty and very tasty, and everyone in the group all agreed that I had ordered the best-tasting dish. Some of the dishes others had ordered were very salty. I got my tacos with a side of jambalaya, which tasted good in the first bite, but then the saltiness started getting to me. It would have been so good if there were less sodium. This was the same case with the crawfish etoufee. The flavours were good, but it was overwhelmingly salty. My friends shared oysters, and there was a good BOGO deal for oysters by the dozen. They happily slurped them up. I did not partake as I am not a fan of oysters, but they seemed really good to my oyster aficionado friends.

They say don't judge a book by its cover, and that adage also applies to strip mall restaurants. Seafood Seller is a surprising feast of options. Great shrimp, grouper, and other Cajun-inspired dishes. The servers were helpful and fast. Some booths are large and a small bar area, making the whole place feel cozy. I would go back just for the hush puppies!

Waitress was a sweet girl but the food was some good f the worst I have ever had. I ordered a crab cake which had the worst flavor and was on the dry side. My husband ordered a $36. plate with crab cake and catfish smothered in some gravy, he took one bite and was like, "seriously I can't eat this"". My husband is not picky, I tried it and agreed. I don't recommend their foo

Jimmy always make you feel good at his restaurant. The food is always fresh. Specials are always changing. You can buy fresh seafood for home or they cook it for you. My wife got the stuffed shrimp. The crab stuffing was delicious. I got the whole fried hog fish. My favorite fish. It was huge and amazing.,service is always friendly. Restaurant is clean and jimmy might just bring out some magic.

    Crawfish Etouffee
    Corissa L.

Good Cajun food in Crystal River! Although, I did read a review that the food was a bit too salty and I will have to agree that the flavors may be a bit better without the extra salt. We had the Blue Crab Claws, Grouper Nuggets, Crawfish Etouffee, and Jambalaya. I probably would have been happier with Gumbo over the Jambalaya, but I recently had Gumbo so wanted something different. And my husband loved the sauce in the Etouffee, and his only complaint was that there was not enough crawfish. For dessert we had beignets. It was not Cafe du Monde, but they were good and we devoured them. The restaurant is in a strip mall but it's busy and lively. Our server was excellent and efficient. A good place to stop in if you are in need of a Cajun fix.

Greeted at the door and we were seated after just a few minute wait on a busy night. Service was prompt. The Blacked snapper was good (although it arrived grilled, not blackened). The jambalaya and red beans/rice were excellent. The place was comfortable and everyone seemed to be having a good time. We enjoyed the visit and will be back!

We had a wonderful time at Seafood Seller. While visiting the area we took a chance and waiting in line for about 30 minutes before a seat the bar opened up. This place is a local favorite and now we know why! Eclectic and fun with darn good food and service. You might even catch the owner doing magic tricks! We loved our dinner here

Our fresh scallops that we brought in off the boat.
    Heather B.

From the outside it may look like your average strip mall joint. BUT - it is much more than that. A hidden gem if you will. Brought our catch of scallops and grunt. Had the scallops sautéed with garlic butter, the grunt was blackened, grilled and then Louisianne style. That roux sauce was exceptional. So much so that we asked for an extra bowl to pour over our scallops. Our sides included hush puppies, jalepeno cornbread and red beans and rice. It is rare that I say EVERYTHING was fantastic. Truth is - I highly recommend this place to everyone staying in crystal river. Have fresh caught scallops or fish? Bring them in. Have the kitchen prepare it. You will not be disappointed. What an amazing way to end a day out on the water.

Fried okra perfect. Wild caught Key west shrimp excellent . Red beans and rice tasty .

There was a wait for a table but my boyfriend and I were able to secure 2 spots at the bar. The waitresses/bartenders are BUSSSYYY but they never let our drinks be empty. We both ordered 2 low seafood boils which had sausage, corn, potato's, crawfish, shrimp, mussels/clams and a blue crab in it and covered in old bay with a side of garlic butter. We could not stop talking about this dinner the next day. Everything was so fresh and juicy. For 3 beers, 2 seafood boils with tip we paid $82 which is not a bad deal at all. I'm thinking management must have changed because wow the staff has been better. We both ordered the same thing which we loved from our last trip 2 years ago, the Royal Red Alfredo. We get our dish and it is clearly not what we ordered last time but figure we haven't seen our waitress for 10 minutes and she never even checked on us. We had been out all day so we're starving. Oh, worth mentioning...it was my Birthday. Didnt even get a "Happy Birthday" after mentioning it to our waitress. My mother had to get a refill from the bar. The more we eat the more we realize this wasn't what we ordered, but rather the Shrimp Scampi variant. We call for the manager who argues with us over what an Alfredo sauce is which clearly it is not...he swears it is and that it has separated into God knows what as all we see is a soppy mess of butter and garlic. I show him a picture from Yelp of another customer's Alfredo from the restaurant we are CURRENTLY sitting in and told this is an old picture...We both realize we're getting gaslit as we know what an alfredo sauce is and had the exact dish so we know what it looks like. We agreed that we ate the food and will pay the price for the scampi dish they served us which is $2 cheaper than what we actually ordered. They refused to lower the bill so we left and paid without tipping. I've never had an experience quite like this where the manager will not even work with you. Not even an apology...we will never be back here again. You can judge for yourself if that looks like Alfredo to you. If you want straight seafood, this place might be alright, but the service we received was absolutely terrible.

Unfortunately, the service we received was extremely disappointing from start to finish. Before arriving at 4pm, I called and was told the wait would be about 20 minutes. We showed up 30 minutes later, the restaurant didn't look busy, and there were plenty of open seats at the bar, so we sat down. The bartender with pigtails completely ignored us. Eventually, a second bartender helped us. We were very low-maintenance customers we started with waters and took time to look at the menu. Service was slow from the beginning. When the bartender finally returned to take our order, she cut me off mid-question to help someone else. We ordered the Low Country Boil ($60) and a side salad as an appetizer. I ordered a Tito's lemon drop shot, and my friend ordered one of their canned vodka cocktails with a glass. The canned cocktail arrived without a glass, and my shot never came. Meanwhile, new customers sat down next to us and were immediately greeted, given menus, and served drinks before I ever received mine. My lemon drop shot finally arrived about 15 minutes later with the explanation that it took time to "mull the lemon." Our food arrived without the salad, crawfish, or sausage that were supposed to come with the boil. Since getting the bartender's attention had already been difficult, we started eating because we were starving after paddleboarding. Halfway through the meal, the bartender brought the salad and said it was supposed to come out earlier and joked that she would eat it if we didn't want it which felt unprofessional, especially since it was ordered as an appetizer. To make matters more confusing, another table had received the crawfish that were supposed to be part of our order and had to give them to us themselves. The bartender never checked on us, never refilled drinks, and never followed up about the missing items until we flagged her down. When the bill came, she told us she removed my friend's canned vodka cocktail and discounted my Tito's lemon drop shot from $14 down to $7. If she did indeed charged me half price for that lemon drop shot its was because it took her so long to get it to me (almost like she forgot the order). I find it hard to believe that a lemondrop shot is $14 but an oyster shooter with Titos is $8.I politely asked if anything could be done to account for the incomplete meal and inattentive service. Instead of trying to resolve the issue, the bartender became argumentative and raised her voice, saying she was short-staffed and working alone, which was clearly not the case. Her way of resolving the issue was to place another order of what we got which made NO sense at this point. As my friend was signing the checks, the bartender told her she has five kids. If that's the case, then she should be more than capable of handling the volume we experienced and the low-maintenance customers we were. In that moment, the interaction felt immature and unprofessional, especially after the level of service we had just received. I'm not someone who skips tipping I usually tip well but since nothing was done to make the situation right, I chose not to leave one. We left and went down the road for drinks, where the bartenders took pride in their service and they received the 30% tip I originally intended to leave here. Thank you for an unforgettable Valentine's Day experience.

This used to be one of our Favorite Seafood restaurants. Not anymore…read more Let me be very clear. The food has changed completely from the original recipes from the original owners. It's not the same quality or tastes. Let us go down memory lane here & revisit our last conversation, we had with you all there, last visits. You told us the story that the new owner was so dedicated to keeping the recipes the same, that they offered the one person a higher salary to stay on, because they were the ONLY person that knew how to make the original Clam Chowder, that everyone loved. You told us to our faces, my husband & I, that he was the only person that knew how to make the Clam chowder & you KNEW that you all had a LOYAL CUSTOMER BASE & FOLLOWING that loved your food & you were NEVER going to change the recipes. You told us you offered the man a bigger salary to stay on. You assured us the new owner wasn't going to change the recipes, just give the place "a makeover." We drove hours to get to Dan's on Saturday. We get there & there is a new sign out-front, its super cute, the building is painted very cute, looks like a super cute little Maine lobster shack in New England somewhere you would visit on Vacation. Now, the Local Florida vibes & charm, all gone. Asked for Tabasco & you don't even have any. In a southern Seafood Restaurant. Insanity. We order our usual Haddock sammy's, fries & Fried oyster app. The fried oysters batter is different, it's sweet. The two sauces on the side are different. Tastes like bottled Miracle whip & sweet cocktail sauce with no horseradish at all. Both sauces are HORRIBLE. The haddock batter is different. It's sweet & doesn't stick to the fish. (see photos) It's just falling apart all over the place b4 we could even attempt to eat them. Both our Sammy's a complete sweet mess, and not in a good way. The fries are some kind of GIANT hand cut fries that are undercooked. The bun, is a cheap bun like from walmart. No side of cole slaw nothing. I'm also not sure why your Haddock sandwiches and fries are $25 bucks each, double the price as "Gaby's" in Clearwater, Florida. I have posted many photos of their Haddock Sandwich's also, and not only are theirs half the price at $12.99, theirs are twice as big served on a cornmeal crusted bun WITH cole slaw. Math doesn't add up. Your haddock is overpriced and/or you cannot do simple math. OuiOui. Now that you have wrecked the food we will be eating The Haddock sammy's at Gaby's in Clearwater, Florida from now on. I have now taken you off all my Favorite restaurants lists & added "Dan's" to the "Worst food of our lives lists." Congratulations on your gentrification of what used to be one of our favorite seafood restaurants. You wrecked it, the food sucks. But, great paint job, it looks so cute. Will never return.
