5/29/2024 I took my F150 king Ranch Casten Bodyshop in Waconda IL, to have my turn signals changed on the towing mirrors. They were changed, but scratches were left behind on the rigth-hand side mirror. I was told that the scratches were there before they changed in the mirror, and they would not pay to fix it, I drove my F150 every day I would know for sure if there were anything in my mirrors. Working with Jeff Remick was a pleasure! Excellent customer service. My SUV was hit by a crazy Deer who decided to cross the road while I was doing 50 mph. I brought my SUV to Casten who came up with an estimate and would work with AAA my auto insurance. I got email updates as well as calls since Honda parts have been an issue due to logistic channel. Parts came in and Casten jumped on it and completed the repair quickly. Also Casten provided a complimentary Car while my vehicle was being repaired. I've read the other reviews of this company. I really don't understand the negative reviews. Let me describe my 5-star review. This company has been in business for decades in Chicago area and North-Northwest Suburbs. I've been a satisfied customer of this company for decades (yes, I may not be the best driver). Also, I have a good friend who lived in Chicago over 30 years and he also affirms my recommendation from his contact information. Let me describe my latest interaction with Casten on Route 12/Rand Rd, Wauconda, IL: I'm disabled. I have an adapted van. I dinged it up as I learned to drive this tank. (Honestly, the only other person who could understand my driving issues would be an owner of an original civilian Hummer). I wasn't willing to make an insurance claim because the damage wasn't accident-related; just due to my scraping barriers due to my learning new equipment. I went to Casten to obtain body repair. Most of the repair was sourcing proprietary parts from the adaptive company. They took on this challenge, sourced the proprietary adaptive parts, and made my adaptive van new again. Cost for the work: Rather than make me deal with towing companies ($$$), they arranged a person to do pickup and drop-off since I live 1 mile away. That saved me $hundreds. They spent the time to source the proprietary body parts for the van. The finished product was "NEW." Lastly: As I've described, they've been excellent in their work. The LAST SURPRISE was: when I picked up my vehicle, they handed me a "party-bag" with sweets and a pen with their name. I'm not into sweets, so I passed that on. You get work done and you pay. Let's see.. I will try to give you the short description of my experience.. I brought my beautiful Jaguar XJ Vanden Plas ( Almost Mint Condition ) to Casten Body Shop for paint chip repairs to the front of the car, I was assured that the chips would be taken care of. I was mostly worried about my paint matching and paint blending. I was assured repeatedly by Casten that the paint would match. When I went to pick up car, I was stunned to see that the Silver metallic paint was a darker shade than the rest of the car.. also shadowing over-spray on the hood near wiper blades. It was so noticeable.. I was just heartbroken. I expressed my dissatisfaction to the management and both managers / technician just stood their stupid like, with nothing to say, no apologies no nothing. I told them I would have to have the car repainted properly, again they just stood their looking down at the floor with nothing to say, just this dumb stupid look on their faces. Now I am out all the $$ I paid at CASTEN. I will say that this unprofessional work, stupidity and arrogance of these two individuals should be a warning to those who will just accept somebody at their word, even when they assure you it will be correct. I brought the car to AL Albas custom shop, Al is completely equipment with computer paint matching, multiple frequency light panels to guarantee shade matching etc. Long story short my Jaguar Paint now matches perfectly, it costly me over $ 3,000 to remove CASTEN Paint and have it redone properly. Oh, I forgot to mention, CASTEN also painted only one side of the jaguar fender flanges., so when you opened the hood, the left side was painted but the "Drivers side" was not. Just absolute stupidity. I should of know better.. when I first called CASTEN, they were always rushing me off the phone.. that experience alone should of been my first clue. Nice people ...but don't expect a real QUALITY repair/paint job. My daughter brought her car in for mostly undercarriage accident repair (slid and jumped curb to the tune of ~$3500) and I asked them to repair two door dings/creases where she had opened the door too wide in the garage and had hit my workbench. These dings were repaired but were noticeable in the finish of the car when looking down the side. Wavy junk repair. Very sad testament of the quality and care of their body workmanship. It's a BLACK car ...therefore poor workmanship would stand out more than other colors but this was a VERY SIMPLE, EASY ACCESS, door skin ding repair ....and they FAILED. I am almost 60 and during my lifetime I have done many repairs like this myself ...to PERFECTION! Anyone who "sights" down the side of this car can clearly see aberrations in the paint signifying the damage repair. I would expect "Body Shop Professionals" would do a better job. Obviously, they have demonstrated that they cannot. read more

Very good body shop. I had a bumper cover that needed a bit of repair and refinishing. They were able to get it done properly and the quality seems great. I won't know how well the finish holds up for a while but initial impressions are good. Paint color match was very good given it was a metallic paint. Being a car guy who does body work on occasion I have a very discerning eye and looking this over I was very happy w/ the quality of their repair and lack of excessive orange peel. There are some nibs in the paint which I brought to their attention. They advised me that once the panel is on the car thy can wetsand/buff them out. I have no doubt they will. If you don't see any update to this the finish has held up well and they have wet sanded the nibs out. What sets these guys apart if their communication. Bar none, the best communication I've ever had. They updated me through the entire process via email and I could not ask for a more painless process. read more

I have been going to Casten auto body for years and have always been pleased with their service. Honesty is difficult to find today and I believe they have always been up front and honest with me. I took my car in recently for an estimate on some minor repairs. They had the technician look at it and he was able to fix them. When I asked how much I owed, he said, "this one is on the house". I have had two cars repaired at this location. The first was a rear-ending that required some significant body work. The repairs were completed ahead of schedule and satisfactorily. It was like my car was new again. The second car had hail damage, which was repaired within one day. They used a paintless repair system which was able to restore all damaged panels to as good as new. I've been very pleased so far. The employees are knowledgable and courteous, and I always get my car back cleaner than I left it. I would recommend them to anyone. read more

Not having had a use for a body shop in almost 20 years, I was very nervous about taking my 2013 Honda Civic in for accident repairs. However, I need not have worried. Casten Body Shop in Wauconda, exceeded my expectations at every level. From the first estimate, then working with the insurance company, and keeping me up to date on the latest status/developments, they were on top of things from the get go. Now, I know the true test will be how the repairs hold up, but I can tell you that my car looked showroom perfect when I picked it up. The replacement parts and paint job were meticulously installed and applied. My car was detailed inside and out and as an extra touch, a goodie bag was on the passenger seat as a thank you for being a customer. All around a GREAT experience!
