Just had major suspension work done on my 68 Shelby Mustang. Couldn't be happier. Car runs great.

My Mercedes Wagon was backed into, and as a result both the hatch and lower portion needed work. The car was to my mind, prior to the accident perfect. The German applied Silver Metallic paint was without compare. The Last Detail not only did the remediation quickly but so perfectly that no one could ever determine which side of the car was repaired and painted. My wagon was returned both inside and out as clean or cleaner than had I detailed the car myself. Great shop, terrific craftsman, I will never go anywhere else. The last star is because everyone there was very nice. I brought my sweet 64 Ford Fairlane there because I thought I had a fuel line problem. they were very prompt in telling me that the float was just stuck in the carb, which I appreciated. they only logged 1.5 hours labor for that, which was cool. I asked for the car to be detailed (it was super clean anyway, but needed some things buffed out). When I picked up the car, it looked nice, not spectacular, but I had been charged 8 hours of detailing time which amounted to close to $400. I think that's a touch steep, especially since the car was super clean to begin with. The thing that was the bummer was that they pulled the car up, and I popped the trunk, and my original snow tires and cover were missing. Had I not thought to do that, i would have driven away without those things, and it's no easy drive all the way to North Chicago from the southside of Chicago. They found my snow tires but were not able to locate my car cover. They did however, give me one that fit. Basically, I think the detailing was super pricey and the fact that they did not replace my belongings in the car upset me. A place called The Last Detail should make sure that everything the car came with leaves with the car. Especially since a lot of people travel very far to have this place detail their precious cars. Know what I mean? UPDATE: They did NOT address the original problem, the car is still leaking fuel. Although the owner called and wants to make it right, I am annoyed by the prospect of having to drive over an hour on f***d up I-94 (sheer torture in a 3 on the tree car) and give up my summer ride (again) to have something that should have been fixed the first time fixed this time. I'll let the court of public opinion decide if this review is warranted. Based on 3 independent mechanics i was advised to write this. As a favor to Last Detail Client Tom advised them to have my Range Rover (seized engine for 2 yrs) sent to help me get a better wholesale sale price. I agreed on the premise that any help would be appreciated. After 2-3 weeks from towing the truck to them i was called to say sorry for not attending to it and that they were busy. No worries because truck is scrap anyways. I told Tom that i was looking to get better than auction for it so any help was welcome. I was asked 3 weeks later if they could purchase keys because mine did not sync ($400) i agreed No further direction was given or was any work of any kind authorized. Never did i sign a release to apply work to truck. 2 weeks later I'm called to ask if i knew engine had seized!! What!! 2 yrs prior (2012 85,000 miles. Crazy but true. He than tell me he's out over $2000 of work in and that it is at a new shop(i already had an offer from this other shop). The truck was only worth $5000-6000. I would never agree to a penny's worth of work on scrap vehicle. Line of communication broke down somewhere and Tom demanded he be paid for services rendered without and agreement between us. He suggested he went out of his way to represent me truck and under charged for the work that was unauthorized. Long and short is i paid the money against the advice of attys and garage owners. In my 40yrs and 20 plus vehicles this is a 1st. I lost 40% of the value of my vehicle. I offered to split the difference and find a happy medium but he demanded full pymt. Lesson learned never trust a favor. Never not sign an agreement. Never believe in the integrity of someone that you don't personally know. Shame on me. This is the 1st poor review i have ever written that i wasn't able to resolve an issue so it would not come to this. But Shame on Last Detail for Taking NO Accountability for their error. We took our Mercedes for body work to what we thought was the best body shop on the North Shore. Boy, were we WRONG! Rust appeared in the front fender and Mercedes told us the fender was not replaced properly after being repaired causing the rust. The Last Detail refused to address the problem on what we thought was a lifetime warranty on work done. Most reputable shops stand behind their work. So now we will have to cork for over $1400.00 for a NEW fender. NEVER AGAIN!! read more

I was recently in a car accident where my car was significantly damaged. Tom at The Last Detail was very helpful and terrific to work with. He advised me on how to best work with the insurance agency and made the whole repair process very easy. He called a few times along the way to check in and let me know that the parts arrived and the repair was on schedule. Best of all when I picked up my car it looked and ran like it was brand new. Positives-capable of laying down some real smooth paint on a collision repair or a restoration-kudos to the painter. Negatives-everytime I brought my collector car in for a minor correction to the new paint job, something else on the car was damaged. Lost my car cover but they are replacing; see previous post. Very expensive. For the amt of $$ I spent there I expected more ATTENTION TO DETAIL!! I have had better experiences at this facility. read more
