So, since our house needed to be painted, we decided to give the contract to them to paint the exterior of our 1927 home which has a lot of trim work, railings, finials, etc. Another great job completed on schedule and within budget. We even had them do a few extra fixes to long-standing problems other contractors either created or never fixed properly like a bathroom vent, etc. We've worked with lots of contractors for small jobs to entire "gut rehabs" and more important than price (though they are very competitive), Matt and his team are honest, attentive, and committed to ensuring your job is done properly and with integrity - not common among the contractors we've worked with over the years. There was a secondary job of replacing a small outdoor shower enclosure. The discussion about the door was thorough with replacement - something which normally comes in around $1000 - $1500 (door & labor) - suggested as the best choice. For the shower, I was given some suggestions for a larger, nicer enclosure. I did agree to get an estimate for that as long as I also got one for a simple replacement of the smaller walls and the shower head. That meeting left me feeling pretty confident in this company. After a couple of weeks I had to call to see if an estimate would be coming soon. They apologized for the delay and sent me the estimate later that day. $9000 for an amazing sounding, spa-like outdoor shower. No estimate for a straightforward replacement however And more importantly, no door estimate. When the mistake was brought to their attention, they did apologize. Then sent me the same estimate again. Last night I received a new email - not an estimate for the door but an invoice for it. No estimate or description of what would be done. Just a bill of almost $4000 for a door and work which didn't actually exist yet. Something had been vastly confused in the shower, but I'm puzzled that after that I'd still receive a stunning bill for a non-existent door One which I imagine would be incredibly epic on the little beach cottage it would end up on.

In addition, my husband and I had a little bit of an emergency situation on our hands due to an impending heat wave, and needed to figure out a solve for our problem quickly. (This I know, was our bad in not preparing better. We take full responsibility!) I put out a request on Yelp on a Wednesday afternoon to all listed handyperson services and emailed another 6 or so companies listed on Google. Most of companies I pinged did not respond at all, and the smattering that did said they were booked through October. Thank my lucky stars, though, Joe called me back within the hour and said he'd come by between 4:30 and 5pm to take a look-WHICH HE DID! Off to a good start and it just kept getting better! I walked him through the challenge at hand: we needed to install an air conditioner in our garage, but we only had one janky window to work with that didn't fit the most narrow window unit, a standup unit didn't cool the space, and we didn't really want to lose use of the window entirely. Joe jumped right in and suggested a quick, flexible, and affordable solution: build an insulated window box so we can easily install and remove the AC seasonally and maintain the insulation that we need during the colder months. Genius! Not only was his idea a good one that checked all boxes, he presented his ideas clearly, answered all my questions thoroughly, and didn't pander to my very unimpressive knowledge of construction in general. Joe sent me an estimate via email the next morning, I approved it immediately, he showed up to do the work that very afternoon, and he was finished with the work by 5pm! MAGIC. He completed the work swiftly, rigorously, efficiently, and cleanly. The AC box is secure, accurately placed based on expectation, and perfectly fits a classic AC window unit. I also needed some carpentry work done, and I was fortunate because they employ their own carpenters. After the in-person consultation, the office staff provided me with a detailed and inclusive estimate which was very fair. The carpenters, Frank and Brian, arrived on the stated date and performed their part of the assignment quickly and flawlessly. Two weeks later, the painters, Andrew and Jose, arrived as stated n the contract. I can't say enough about the perfectionism of this duo. I had many cabinets and moldings requiring fine, detailed work. I've had a tremendous amount of work done in my home in the past, but their work was unparalleled. I was impressed with Andrew's building of an enclosed plastic room within my house to sand and spray the cabinets. There was never any dust or mess at the end of the day. It was honestly amazing. My cabinets are silky and look brand new. I pretty much knew what colors I wanted to use, but "Two Brothers" provides a color specialist who did make a house call. She gave me some good ideas, and if you don't know what colors to choose, she'd be great for someone who was undecided. Andrew and Jose completed my entire kitchen and back entry quickly and to perfection. Not only were they superb as painters, they were polite, unobtrusive and easy to work with. If you want quality work, excellent communication, and ease of mind, hire Build Pros. We originally wanted to have our microwave vented out (rather than circulating air and grease in the kitchen) and add a second banister to the stairs to the basement to make them more safe for our growing toddler. We were also considering having our spare basement bathroom remodeled. The bathroom really wasn't very functional because it was built in pieces (so the gross tiny stall shower wasn't even in the bathroom). That was a big job, and we wanted to get a quote for all three pieces. The first two jobs were too small on their own, so we hired Build Pros for all three. They were amazing to work with, and the work they did was the highest of quality. The team was extremely communicative, and we always knew when they were coming, what they were doing next, and what to expect. Their spreadsheet system made it really easy for everyone to keep track of what we had selected, costs, etc. They helped us a ton with design decisions, made recommendations when appropriate, and made sure we were happy with absolutely everything before moving forward. Our house stayed unbelievably clean, given the level of work they were doing, throughout the process. Mike and Rouben were fantastic at reimagining the layout of our bathroom, taking all of our priorities into consideration. John, their carpenter, is a master. We went way over budget, but a lot of that was my fault. I wanted a bathroom that was functional, but the more we talked and designed, the more I realized we actually could get a really *nice* bathroom that wasn't just functional, but high end. They did a bunch of other random things in the area too. We just were so happy with their work, and they were already there, so we asked them to fit in a few small things and they were awesome in getting those done too (adding a couple outlets in the adjacent home gym, replacing our outdoor water spigots, etc.). We are extremely happy with the final products. We even had a water problem shortly after they finished. They fixed it swiftly with no charge. It might have been a part issue or a labor issue, and so in the beginning it was unclear whether we were going to have to pay for repairs right away. I would have been very disappointed if they had charged us, and have all the more confidence in them since they fixed it and stood by the work and warranty. The only real negative was that sometimes when we had to make a decision, and the team gave us a quick "off the cuff" estimate about how much a few different options would cost, the estimate was really a fair amount lower than estimated. That contributed to some of our cost increase, but in the end I think we would have made the same decisions regardless. We're extremely happy with the final products. We even hired them again and they're starting work at my mother-in-laws house this week! I'm already dreaming of putting an addition on our house in the future, and we will hire them absolutely if/when we do this.
