We stopped originally at Pittman's Liquor Store since it was closest to our house. My husband and I love a particular brand of rum (Whalers Vanilla). I didn't see any so we asked if they had any. They said no. I explained we just moved here and bought bottles frequently enough - could they special order some in? They said absolutely not - they don't do special orders (and were quite snotty about it). I quietly told my cousin that we won't be shopping here ever again if this is how rudely they treat their customers. The woman behind the counter apparently overheard me and she actually said "Good!" How much ruder can someone get?! We were planning to buy a few hundred dollars in alcohol from them. We went down the road instead to Potomac Liquors. They cheerfully agreed to always stock whatever alcohol we wanted so long as we always shopped there (instead of anywhere else). We happily agreed and will NEVER set foot in Pittman's Liquor Store again. I should probably add that this was my first shopping experience in Hancock. I'm glad not all Hancock merchants share Pittman's snobbery. I will ALWAYS shop at Potomac Liquors. The owner - and all the employees - are super friendly. They remember me and my husband from visit to visit. They always chat with us and are willing to do what they can to ensure we are completely satisfied. I've never had a negative experience with them - EVER. These are the friendliest, most helpful people I've ever met. I tell all our friends and family about what happened and that they need to ALWAYS shop (exclusively) at Potomac Liquors.
