It was such an absolute pleasure to experience your enthusiastic welcome, your genuine hospitality, your unique morning cuisine, your dynamic personalities and engaging conversation ON THAT MAGIC PORCH!! While those words may be a start, it only scratches the surface of our appreciation of what we shared with you last weekend. So while I consider further review accolades, let me, at least, share that something else, that I mentioned in one of our passionate conversations - the recipe of my late wife, Kay, of New Orleans LA, for her exceptional Croissant Bread Pudding, which is always a winner where & when dessert is being celebrated. The bathrooms are modern and have fantastic jetted tubs. The bed was very comfortable. My room had a white noise machine, ceiling fan, a large closet, free wi-fi, and even electric candles for a romantic touch. They offer a continental breakfast with a lot of options and a Keurig machine for coffee. There is a nice patio out back overlooking the brook. Parking is easy, free and right outside. The innkeeper was very nice and friendly - happy to chat and answer questions about the area - but did not impose on the guests. The decor is cleaner and simpler than most B&Bs, which was a huge draw for me! I don't like rooms full of creepy dolls and tons of old lace. I would recommend this location. The back room with the two twin beds probably has the best view.

The hotel is cozy, with a nice pub on site and spa. it is also just steps away from the Berkeley Springs hot springs, along with the community pool and farmers market. On the latest stay, we got a room in the newer part of the building. It is the less expensive room option, but the room is very spacious. We prefer the older portion of the hotel, in the main building. But you can't go wrong with either spots. I'd recommend getting reservations in advance if hoping to eat on site. The pub has limited seating options. But its well worth the stop.

We opted not to have housekeeping come, so would have been nice to have had a broom or dustpan handy since it's Spring and we were all bringing in mud / dirt on our shoes, but otherwise was well appointed for two people traveling with a dog (altho the 2 little side chairs could have been more comfortable, and it would have been good to have a designated place to put the dogs bowls). The staff was very accommodating when I had to change my reservation, and were all wonderful in-person, too. We ate dinner at the restaurant, which had good home-cooked food, but the young waiter needs training; he came over when we were still eating and asked what we thought about dessert. It wasn't crowded, so I don't understand why we were rushed through our meal. We didn't end up going back because there are so many other dining options in the town or nearby, but it's definitely a plus to have a restaurant on-site when traveling with a dog.

Located about 20 minutes outside of Gettysburg proper, we had reservations for a weeknight dinner. We arrived to the very large parking lot in front of the massive historic red building restaurant and barn along with a whole lot of other people coming in to experience this evening at Hickory Bridge Farm. Once inside there were tons of people waiting to get called, and there are crackers and cider to enjoy while waiting. Once your name is called, you pass through another set of doors into the MASSIVE open dining area with wood ceilings and pillars and a sea of tables. Most of the tables were large round or super long wooden tables just filled with families. We were just a party of two, but they also have smaller tables for us as well. Our server was Ashley and she was absolutely wonderful from start to end this evening. Now about how this all works.... You pay one price, except for cocktails, and the food begins to roll out to your table...and keeps coming! Dish after dish was placed on our table, to the point we had to teeter some right on the edge. It's all family style service, so nothing is portioned out. It's large dish after large dish after large dish...LOL The food we were served on this evening was good home cooked items. They start you off with spiced peaches, and salad, then came Chicken, brisket, potatoes, veggies, bread, etc... and of course you have to have dessert which they offered us two, of which they said, "you can have one or the other..or both... OINK I say... Hickory Bridge Farm is not fine dining, it is absolutely a good old fashion down home family dining experience. Every table was having a great time, and the food was good and certainly filling...And the attention from everyone there from beginning to end was the best.

They have the most beautiful treatment room and most comfortable massage table I've even been on. The little touches are what put it over the top- the prepared charcuterie in the mini fridge- our preferred beverages stocked, rose petals on the bed, it was all very thoughtful and beautiful. You can tell Kelly takes a lot of pride in the integrity of the historic home and of her business. Ashley was wonderful too, they were excellent hostesses but did not hover and it felt very quiet and secluded- exactly what I needed! I hope to be back and make this a regular weekend or celebratory thing. The room service breakfast was also incredible. I highly recommend this hidden gem.

My husband and I always feel so welcomed here. Kelly is incredibly kind, accommodating, and inviting. Breakfast is excellent every morning, and they provide a daily charcuterie board to snack on, which is such a nice, thoughtful touch. We also loved that they have a fully stocked, self service coffee bar available anytime, featuring a great variety of coffees, espressos, teas, and even hot chocolate to suit whatever mood you are in. If you are looking for a place to unwind and relax, this is it. The staff is so friendly, and having spa services available right on site makes it even better. Plus, it is in a great location, just a short, easy drive into Middletown to grab lunch or dinner. This is the perfect place to truly unwind and recharge. Thank you Kelly for making us feel at home and for your generosity. Your warm and positive energy truly shows. We cannot recommend Beaver Creek enough.

Hickory Hill Cabins review (Franklin, W Va; there are also…read moresome Hickory Hill Cabins in Oklahoma.) 3 cabins on a wooded hillside. Cabins 3 and 4 have kitchens with some pans and dishes and silverware, big fridges, stoves, and microwave, and kitchen sinks; cabin 1-2 (divided single building) has only small fridges. Also small dressers (3 drawers). Showers about 2x4 to 3x6 with seat in one corner. Sinks are in bedrooms, OUTside shower/toilet room. Log cabins, metal roofs, sturdy and clean. All electric. Landlords seemed accommodating to us, so if you need something special, you might ask. (We may've put extra children in our room). Ceiling fans. Two double beds per cabin, smaller and harder than ours at home. Beds were made when we arrived (NOT made daily). Toilet paper supplied, but not soap nor shampoo. (There's a motel in town if you need daily attentions.) A/C in cabin 2 worked as fan only (unit 30 years old, with 2 adults 4 children 1-7 in room; weather lows 50ish highs 70ish, September 23-25 A.D. 2011). Acorns hit roofs now and then. No Gideon Bibles. Cabins are several dozen feet apart, and it's dark at night (driveway unlit); bring flashlights. At least one light bulb outside a door did not work, and toilet seat (clean, comfy, cheap) needed securing. I think ATT cell phone worked, others did not. Hillside slopes 10-30 degrees or so. Trees widely spaced. Much more moss than undergrowth; easy to walk through (except for steepness.) Driveways workable--my sister got her big van with camping trailer up--but one narrow lane up the hillside. Cabins pretty much by themselves; no intrusive neighbors. (Hunting season? We heard a few gunshots across the valley midafternoon.) There's a grassy field with a few degrees slope, big enough for a children's' baseball game. Small earthen dam, pond was maybe 10 feet wide and 2 feet deep (if that) when we were there (family reunion Sept 23-25; might reach 30x4 with a lot of rain?); Frogs. Two old (A.D. 1920s?) graves near dam. The website invites campfires, and there's a space below the cabins where we had one. Grocery store (not huge, but has all the usual) is about 1 1/2 mile south of cabins (from cabins go left, south, on US-220, grocery is left behind Fox's Pizza); also Laundromat, restaurants, Dollar store, etc. (Small town; 45 minutes to Wal-mart.) Grocery is open 8am-8pm, Sundays 10-6. (Small town; shuts down at night.) Three stars out of five; it is what it is. Worked for us--family gathering with scrambled planning. GETTING THERE About a mile north on US-220 from where US-33 goes off west, mostly downhill, after 4 smallish houses in a row on the right is a big wood sign marking Hickory Hill Cabins on right. The driveway is called "Lincoln Lane," with a small green street sign. If coming in from Virginia, buy gas in Virginia, save 25 cents/gallon or so. (Remember, this review is based on a September '11 visit, so everything is subject to change.) US 33 from Harrisonburg VA to Franklin WVa is curvy and steep (rises to 3450 feet above sea level). My sister's van with trailer made heavy weather of the hill. (Might use US 220 north through Petersburg?--hills but less mountain?) WVa has passing lanes here and there on the hill; VA has short gravel pull-offs. Hiking parking lot at top of ridge. Watch out for bridge construction at foot of Wva side (as of Sept 25 '11), and speed traps on VA side (straight, downhill, and only 55, man?) The hosts, Amanda and Diane, were pleasant and extremely helpful. On the day of our arrival, I received a text message from Amanda first thing in the morning asking our approximate arrival time. On our drive up. I received another text message about the parking location and to pull in front of the building if we were unable to find it. This bed and breakfast has its own small parking area behind the house. Being that I have a good sense of direction, I was able to navigate the endless stream of one-way streets to get to this lot. The backyard of the bed and breakfast is quaint with a nice seating area and fire pit. There's a patio and some games that you can use on their lawn. The public areas, including the dining room, living room, and sitting areas are all nice. There are six guest rooms in this bed and breakfast. Our room was on the first floor. Amanda said it used to be a physician's exam room. Interesting! The room was spacious and had a fairly comfortable bed. There were a number of outlets around the room and very nice furnishings. The bathroom, I'll be at small, was nice and the shower had an excellent stream and the shampoo and shower gel on the wall was very nice. Our breakfast the next morning was home, cooked to order and very tasty. Tasty. Enough to get the day started but not too much to feel overly full. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate were always available as well as cookies and pastries. Plus, this B&B, was super convenient located with lots of restaurants within a short walk. Short walk. I highly recommend staying at this B&B if you were going to be in the area or just passing through.

Yes, it is an old, one floor motel like what we stayed in when we traveled in the 70's and 80's but it has just what you need. Very clean room and bathroom, comfortable beds, free wifi, personally controlled ac and heat, parking directly in front of your room, cable tv, coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator, desk with chair, comfortable armchair, benches at the foot of the bed, no odor in room, quiet, safe feeling, pet friendly, inexpensive and did I mention that it's VERY CLEAN. I have stayed at many more much expensive hotels that weren't nearly as clean. No leftover hairs in the shower/tub, no stained sheets, no sticky carpets, and no odors here at Wiltshire. You can sometimes find the gentleman owner walking the property with his dog. He is a super nice man to converse with. He is a very humble man and truly appreciates his guests. He thanked us multiple times for giving his place a chance and staying there. Upon arrival he told me that if for any reason I wasn't satisfied with my room then come right back and tell him. He said after all, you are paying for it so you should be happy. No more super long drive from Michigan to Maryland for me. I will be staying at Wiltshire Motel from now on.
