This place was a recommendation from a friend who does LOTS of business here. I did not name drop when I made the appointment but apparently should have because I received HORRIBLE service. They charged us $300 more than quoted and had our tractor for over a month. Got it back and didn't even get through a full mow before the belt that they apparently replaced came off. Called to ask what exactly was repaired and they couldn't tell me except a belt and battery was replaced......we paid almost $800. They pick the tractor back up and have the tractor for another month! I call to find out the status of repairs because it had been so long again and was told the tractor has been done and they don't know why no one has called to let us know. They just simply forgot about it because it wasn't on their "list" of callbacks to make. Not sure what that means but just wow on the whole experience. My sister took her tractor here too and did "name drop" the same referral. She received completely different service- she paid much less and got her tractor back within a week. Guess who you know helps you out here which is unfortunate. Everyone should get the same service no matter who you know. read more

After shopping for zero turn tractors at six different stores, we decided on Castongia Tractor. Joe Garling, sales and product support specialist, greeted us at the door and began sharing his knowledge about John Deere tractors. Joe answered all of our questions and provided us with various means to purchase. We felt like we were making an informed decision to include the price. This place is the worst! I would give 0 stars. Nothing is ever under warranty. Nothing is fast or reasonably priced. My weed whacked and hedge trimmer have been there a month "waiting on parts from Stihl"-bs . Tire repair are slow and 3x the price of Might Mike's- and he is not rude! I had my John Deere serviced by Castongia Tractor in Crown Point. All they had to do was replace a fan. 2 months later I get my lawn tractor back missing all the matching fastener pins that it left with, being replace with odds and end pins and clips all different sizes. The expensive safety pin used for the trailer replaced with one that does not fit and missing the safety clip. The pull knob in the back for neutral when pushing is completely gone the fan originally replaced busted right back off once I set the mower deck down to mow, fan pieces flying out everywhere. The service is horrid, nothing but lies about the status of your tractor and what is being done. They busted a rod that makes the tractor go forward and reverse at Castongia Crown Point and tried to blame me for it and make me pay. All this on top of when they came out to pick it up the driver yanks the hood up busting the hinge on one side while it's dangling on the other. The look of shock on my face must have been obvious because the guy said 'that happens all the time on these'. Not on mine! My tractor is over 15 years old but looks new. I take pride in my belongings and bought a name I was proud to own. Update from the repair shop who finally fixed the issue of fan breaking. Not only did they carelessly replace whatever was laying around for fastener clips but they also did this with a part for the deck which was eating up the fan. Had to have the transmission replaced because they busted the rod that puts the transmission in neutral, that's why they did not put it back on and the part is obsolete, could not be found. read more

I have a push mower that has been at the John Deere dealership in Crown point they have not called me one time about the l'amour I have called him three times and they keep saying that the battery they wait for the battery well I would think in three weeks I would have a battery so I wouldn't go back to them are recommending by going to them they have anything fixed read more

5/25/18. I went in to purchase a new JD tractor as mine is getting old. The parts people sit on bar stools at the counter, eat sandwiches and are too lazy to greet you. After wandering their showroom for 15 minutes one of them said "oh the sales guy is tied up he'll be with you in a minute". I eventually got the sales guy to answer my questions and bought a $3700.00 John Deere tractor with an optional mulch attachment that was a factory promotion with a rebate.They ran my CC and told me the tractor would be delivered "tomorrow or the next day". 2 phone calls and 6 days later I went to the store and confronted the salesman. My tractor was not ready because they didn't have the mulch attachment in stock and I was told they just received it "yesterday". The next thing I know I'm in a conversation with 4 employees including a mechanic from the shop! I was told they have been so busy picking up broken tractors for repair that they have the salesman delivering new ones on his own time after work out of "the kindness of his heart"! Hard to believe! I said they should have the delivery guy on overtime to catch up and the mechanic replied "they don't give us no overtime here". I canceled the order and blocked the CC charge with Visa. I'm now the proud owner of a new 25HP husqvarna from Heinold & Feller in Valpo. and it's nicer and has better features than the JD. Heinold & Feller was GREAT to work with and delivered my new tractor the next day. read more
