I hired Castro Family Landscaping to turn my bare, weed infested backyard into a lawn a new homeowner would swoon over. My backyard originally didn't receive enough sunlight to grow grass like I wanted so we had to cut some limbs down. The Castro team explained which limbs they thought should come down and got the service scheduled very quickly. Come March, they laid a layer of topsoil over my backyard and installed healthy St. Augustine grass. I received instruction on how often to water it the next month and 1.5 months later, it looks amazing! I call myself a proud lawn dad now! I wish I had a before picture to show in tandem with the after, but I've stricken it from my memory. And to top everything off, they did all of this at an unbeatable price. I got 3 other quotes and none of them could get anywhere near the value that Castro Family Landscaping was able to. There is sometimes a very minor language gap in some discussions as English isn't their native language (still able to speak English though), but it's never been an issue. I had a really good experience working with this company. They used limestone I already had onsite to construct a raised bed in my front yard. They gave me a good price, showed up on time both for the estimate and the work. The stone work was much better than I expected, and I would absolutely hire them again! The project leader did wear a face covering when I came out to speak with him, (as did I) and I really appreciated that. Give them a call if you need stone work! read more

They gave the best pricing and gave an informative consult. It was hard to schedule and communicate and the product wasn't exactly what we had discussed. I would hire them again for regular clean up since our yard isn't very well curated but for more expensive or careful or timely projects would probably go with a different service. read more

We just moved in to our new construction house about a month ago. The grass was starting to get unruly, so we desperately needed someone to take care of the lawn. The first company I reached out to had a very long waiting list and wouldn't be able to mow the lawn for several weeks. Obviously, that wasn't going to work. I'd also reached out to Castro Family Landscaping and got a quote, but it seemed ridiculously expensive. Turns out that I was reading it wrong. When I mentioned that the price was too high, they were very helpful and called to explain the estimate. They even gave me a discount on the first service. Everything was straightforward from there. The team came to mow, edge, and blow the lawn the next day. I heard a lawnmower and came out later to see a nicely cut lawn. No fines from the HOA for this house! Very responsive and did come out for an estimate on my project. I didn't hire them because their price was almost $400 for a very small project that ultimately cost me $95 with another company. Also their availability seems limited and they couldn't do the work for another week. It ended up getting done in 30 minutes by a different company. read more

We engaged Castro to help design and implement a "zero maintenance" front yard. They agreed to deal with existing vegetation, remove soil as needed, install a weed barrier, then cover with rock. Very nice crew--everyone worked hard. We felt we had established a good relationship with Uriel Castro, the company representative. But weeds began growing through the fabric only a month after they had finished and been paid in full. Uriel agreed that this wasn't what we'd asked and asked us to help him pursue the fabric supplier. He then offered to spray, which was exactly what we had paid them to avoid. See picture. As he doesn't offer any solution but regular chemical spraying, we have reluctantly gone to Small Claims court for help. read more

This was the second time using the Castro team. This time was for a new paver path. I tried to do it myself but ended up screwing up the grade/slope of the area when removing old stone, leading to the pooling water problem getting worse. The Castro team gave a fair price, worked fast and gave me a beautiful path around the side of my house. Another great experience with them. We're sorry to have to report this, but our experience with Castro has been very disappointing. Very nice people, worked hard. We clearly stated from the beginning of our consult that we were looking for a landscape with zero maintenance. Castro recommended and we agreed to pay for ground preparation, spray, and a "weed barrier" covered by river rock - we talked this through with them thoroughly, they assured us they were the professionals. Weeds were growing freely through the "barrier" ONE MONTH after the work was completed. Uriel Castro expressed his displeasure with the result and with the fabric he purchased and installed on our behalf. Instead of taking responsibility for their error, the Castro firm has blamed the fabric vendor and referred us to the vendor. The entire matter is documented by email. Instead of a lawn, we now have river rocks and weeds--a much worse outcome. We had no choice but to file for a full refund in Small Claims court. See picture below. read more
