The first few times I went to Castro I left with a clean car. The last few times have been progressively worse each time. Today's "wash" was the last straw. I paid for the "supreme" (supposedly inside & out) and came home and had to finish the job ourselves. As seen in my photos, the inside looked like it wasn't touched and the car mat's were as filthy as when I arrived. The outside front of the car wasn't even clean! For over $30 I expect to not have to re-clean the car myself. I guess taking pride in ones work is not the Castro motto. read more

I used to love going to castro for a carwash but after going there today i think it's time for me to find a new place. When I got there the employees were already working on one other car, I got out and a gentlemen met me and i told him i wanted to do #4 which is what they call the basic in & out. This was the service i had always gotten for the past 3 years that I have lived in Des Plaines. After telling him i wanted #4 he looked into my car and said something along the lines of oh you don't want #5 because #4 doesn't include cleaning the weathertech floor mats. I found this strange considering everything I've gone, they have always cleaned my weather tech with the #4 option. He then advised that i should do #5 since it included cleaning the weather tech and that it was only $6 more. With hesitation i said sure. I watched through the window of the waiting area as they cleaned my car. The guys cleaning didn't really seem to put much effort in cleaning and when all was done there were still soap spots that they missed when rinsing and just wiped with a cloth and water dripping from the door handles. The worst part was when i got into the car, the weathertech floor mats weren't even clean as you can see in the photos. Now, if you're going to charge me extra to include cleaning my weather tech floor mats i would hope they would actually clean them but nope. I also had to ask one of the guys to wipe a few more spots that they missed while he pointed out spots on my car that should be buffed out saying "you don't have to do it, but it's just my opinion" but how do i know they'll even do a good job with that if i did decide to do it? This is my favorite car wash. I live in northbrook and take the time to drive out there because it's worth it! I always get a clean inside and out and it's only $20 not including tip. Was in the area and wanted to take my car to a hand car wash so I googled hand car washes. This place came up and after reading the reviews decided to give it a try. Turned out to be a good decision, especially since I received a $4 discount on their supreme car wash for checking in on Yelp. The place is not very big, but they took their time and did a nice job on the inside and out, paying close attention to details like window and mirror cleaning. And they are courteous and reasonably priced. Will definitely go back the next time I'm in the area. read more

just wish to reiterate how awesome these guys are!! I haven't gotten a car wash since I've came here in December so my car was super filthy. This time I got the supreme car wash that includes outside and inside for $20. Besides the normal stuff, here are the extras: wheels, tire armour, wax, vacuum inside, glass clean all windows, clean/wipe the interior, spray clean the rugs (he first sprayed it with some type of soap thing, then he used a brush and scrubbed dirt off the right) and some other stuff I missed. The work too fast to keep track. SIDE NOTE: the tip box is inside the waiting area. None of the workers are going to ask you for the tip directly. They just say have a good day and they won't even know if you tipped or not. I always tip generously... I am just confused as to how much I should give because 6-7 people work on my car! SIDE NOTE #2: If it rained EARLIER or you expect rain to come... call ahead to see if they're open. They close down the car wash when the weather isn't favorable. For a $26 car wash, this was a good place. If you want something more detailed you have to pay more money since it takes more time. So it didn't surprise me when they left my cupholders dirty, and they didn't really take time to ensure the bugs I had murdered on the highway stretch from DC to Chicago were all cleaned up. That being said, they were efficient and quick and courteous. These days, what more can you really ask for? Would I have liked for it to have been more meticulous? Yes, but I'm also a little OCD. For what they charge - especially if you go get their early bird special I think they are worth the money. Don't be cheap and forget to tip! These guys work hard! read more

Paid for the top of the line wash, maybe because it was the of the day but the car wasn't completely dry and the old towels they used left lint all over the dash. I just moved to Arlington Heights and was looking for a hand car wash. I saw the reviews for Castro and he was close enough so I gave him a shot. Now be advised, it's a tiny non assuming place located in a gas station parking lot. I pulled in the employee was friendly and they did a great job of explaining the wash packages. My vehicle was washed, and vacuumed and came out nice and clean and dry. I also appreciate the fact they used an air compressor to blow out all the water from the door jams and cracks. That's a great move by a car wash. Overall I give them 5 stars after one trip and I will return. I certainly suggest trying them. read more

My car needed a clean badly. I found this place on Yelp and I'm so glad that I did! It's small place a true hidden gem. The prices are so cheap and they wash your car by hand. Best way to wash a car the prices are dirt cheap and if you're first time customer here and check in on Yelp you get $4 off supreme wash. Paid $18 to clean the inside and outside of the car. My third time here . The first two times I was extremely happy. Today not so much... There were maybe five guys working on my vehicle, so I expected better. They did a great job washing but a poor job vacuuming. I have a SUV and specifically asked to vacuum the very back when the guy greeted me. I even asked the guy as I was paying and he told me it was done. Home now and looked in the back and it wasn't done. The back seat was poorly done also. Should have checked before I left. read more
