In the spirit of being upfront, I want any that read this to know that I've been a friend of the owner for many years, for some this may mean that I'll go easy on the business instead of being objective. Because I know Jason and the kind of person he is I have higher standards for this store than any other game store I've Patronized. Casual Dragon Games is, simply put, an amazing store. They have a great selection of Board, Card, RPG, and Miniature based Games. They offer a very active calendar of free gaming based events (Open board gaming, Role Playing Games etc) and some Buy in Events (Magic the Gathering Drafts as an example). The owner is very well versed in many of these games and in most cases can even show you how to play the game you purchase. Because Jason is also a game designer he has a lot of experience in explaining tough directions to a player, in an easily understood way. Now for any that have read my reviews of places like this, they will have seen that I've reviewed other stores also. Casual Dragon offers almost all the same services, snacks for gamers playing in open game night, tradeable magic cards and a space to try out your new game. This is where Casual Dragon Games easily beats its competition because not only is there one room to have open gaming in or to play your newly bought game. There are several game rooms for this. Other stores have large areas but they don't have separated rooms. The noise level becomes a problem on high traffic nights for them, but Casual Dragon doesn't have this issue. He also has a couple of sellers that sell their items on consignment. Mark (the coordinator of Lil'con) sells used console systems and games here (I just bought a N64 and some fun games for my son here), and Mike from mikescustomdicetrays on etsy sells custom made dice boxes here as well. But the real kicker that puts this store at the head of the pack is the Escape Room that Jason has engineered here. His prices for groups are reasonable (and lower than most escape rooms) and his, is by far the most challenging I've ever been through (In fact is the only one I didn't escape from) All in all, this store is amazing, come check it out and be prepared to get your Geek on! read more

Great spot for rare board games. The service is great too. Overall I'm pretty picky about my game board shops but they went above and beyond. Much bigger on the inside than it looks too. Highly recommended. My only issue is that even though they do have a wide selection of games I couldn't find the one I was specifically looking for. To be fair though, I have niche tastes, lol. I've enjoyed a few years of being a customer here. The build was renovated from whatever it was prior, but this means there are lots of little rooms to play in, both on the ground floor and the basement area. This is quite the haven for gamers, especially the table top crowd. They have more games than I knew existed, as well as small rooms for people to play and regularly scheduled game days. We're mostly computer gamers, but came in to price used consoles for our sons because they have those, too, at pretty stellar prices relative to chains or even online. Sometimes they have demo stations set up like the first time my husband went with the boys. There's even an escape room in the basement so you don't have to drive all the way out to Buffalo for the experience. Friendly, helpful employees. Cool shop. read more

What an amazing find near the historic canal section of Lockport! Did an Escape Room here and have to say it was lots of fun time for all ages. The game master was hilarious (should be a stand-up comedian) and the escape room was hard. Highly Recommend! read more

A group of 4, including myself, used a Groupon (great deal) to try our first escape room. We were hesitant at first, given we've never been before. The scheduling process was easy, right over the phone. The times were flexible. Upon our arrival, we were given some tips and clues by the gentleman who helped us through the evening. One of our favorite pieces of the night was that it was in no way rushed. We've always had reservations about spending money for just an hours time, but it was refreshing that we were afforded the time and attention that showed they cared about the customer and the game itself. The room was very well done. I enjoyed the challenge and many puzzles, despite our failure to escape. After the game, the gentleman in his sarcastic/witty/creepy tone, helped us to see the light and our flaws, which we appreciated. I'll definitely return to Casual Dragon Games when/if they come up for a new game. Highly recommend! read more

Pros: 1. Large selection of board games! They really have nice selection at very reasonable prices. 2. Staff seem to be friendly gamers themselves and that is important because they can offer good advice. You need people who have a passion for what they are offering. 3. C/U singles for sale at 10c each. That is cheaper than other stores trying to get 25c each. I like thumbing through boxes because I like to get full sets. Kudos because you are the ONLY store in WNY that seems to have that! Cons: 1. There is no advertising outside of this building. It was mere blocks from my house and I never knew it was there. Marketing 101 is not being followed. They are shooting themselves in the foot here. 2. The building is merely a long hallway and small rooms. If you go through the back door you must check each room until you find the counter. It needs some signs. The play rooms are kind of cramped with simple Walmart folding tables. 3. The place needs remodeling BADLY...BADLY... The walls are just old wood panel walls from the 70's. The carpet is ancient. There isn't even an attempt to make it pleasing to the eye. Put some posters up in the hallways! Maybe some music? Some signs? Decorate? Have a theme that says wow! The first impression matters! Sorry guys, but the place is not inviting at all. I can think of many things to do for very cheap and I just don't get why it looks the way it does. 4. The board games are on shelves and that is fine but if MTG is a major attraction, which is obvious since R/M singles in the glass counter, why so few? That implies MTG is a focus but not seriously... So overall I think there is tons of potential but I'm detecting poor business sense at this time. That's spells doom to me because LGSs are already having a tough time and this place doesn't have much to offer. It feels more like a hobby business that might not last long. That's sad because I think with just a few changes and some serious work on decor, it could be a good attraction for gamers. I'd love to give it more stars but I cannot honestly do that and my suspicion is that many of the high star comments are coming from friends. This store is a bit of a mess. There are three to six people who work there with at least two owners, maybe three. I think. It's hard to tell. I've been in there a fair number of times and I've been cashed out by 4 or 5 different people, with one flat out admitting that they know nothing about any of the games, one very friendly person who seemed to know a lot about card games, and the rest who seem disinterested in talking. Before I go any further, though, I think I'll break the review into what I've seen and what I've experienced. From what I've seen, the store seems to be your typical, kinda ratty game store, heavily focused on Magic the Gathering, Pokemon, or whichever CCG/TCG is most popular at the moment. The store is in an old, run down, shotgun-style building with rooms off a main hallway and a basement with a few rooms with doors. I think there's an escape room, but I'm not sure if it's still open. The place is, as I said, run down. There's no real signs, and everything is kinda just jammed in where ever it can fit. Warhammer and old video games? Those go together, I guess. Board games that don't need dice, tons of dice and some random paints? That works! It feels haphazard and claustrophobic. My experiences have been worse than my observations, unfortunately, or, at the least, have become worse. Prices on things like 40k and MtG have the typical store discount that many other places don't give you, which is nice, but the selection isn't that great for the things I want, or for the things other people want, if the conversations I've had and heard are any indication. They've got a massive selection of board games, but most seem to be simple resource builders. They also have a large selection of common and uncommon cards from MtG, Digimon, Pogemon, etc.. They'll let you write stuff down if you want them to order it, but that seems to be just them adding it on to their next order from their distributor, not actually ordering it for you when you want it, if the months it took to get the items I wrote down was any indication. The newly unwelcoming atmosphere is the biggest issue, however. When I first started buying from here, I noticed there was often 5-10 people in the store, playing some lighthearted games, discussing plans for bigger games, reading books, talking about the latest release of some game and just generally hanging out. In the past 3 or 4 trips, though, that open, welcoming atmosphere has evaporated. Now, if I don't have an item in hand, I'm usually asked what I'm looking for within about five minutes of coming in, and if I do have an item in hand, I'm told that I can be cashed out right away, and the moment I'm cashed out, it's, "Bye, see ya later!" Maybe it's just me that they don't like, I guess that's possible, though I will say I no longer see those groups of people just enjoying the game store. Hygiene certainly isn't an issue for me, though the store seems unconcerned about it anyway. I'm not sure what the issue is, to be honest, but with each negative visit, the stores in Buffalo and Niagara Falls seem more and more appealing even though they're much further away than the 10 minutes or so this store is from me. read more

Disappointing. The store and play area were both dirty and small. The play area was in an old bathroom, with toilets removed but an old sink still there for some reason. No judges, and an absent tournament organizer during the entire tournament. I won't return to Casual Dragon. read more

We were in town on vacation to fish the area. We are always looking for game stores to add to our magic the gathering collection. Visited this one day and the owner was amazingly helpful, fun, and nice. Showed us some other rooms with posters and memorabilia after we spent an hour sorting cards to buy. Was so pleased we returned the next day and spent 3 times the time and money. If we didnt live 6 hours away we would be regulars. One of the best shops we have been to in 5 states. May come back here on Vacation just for this shop. read more
