When I called I fully expected to be told that they were busy and to bring it in a week or so like I heard when I called some bike shops in Amherst. I was surprised to hear the words "bring it right in and we'll look at it in a few days." I took the short ride to Batavia to drop the bike off and when I entered the shop they seemed to know I was coming and what the problem was. When I rolled the bike in I was stunned when I was asked if I had time to hang out in Batavia as they might be able to look at it and make the repair immediately and save me a trip back to pick it up. Of course I agreed to stay in the neighborhood and when I returned to the store 45 minutes later the bike was repaired beyond my satisfaction and the price of the repair was extremely reasonable. It's official I have found my new bike repair shop thanks to the great service I received today.

Fairly easy, free parking in a popular car lot across the street. Model cars and chess sets. Wagons, slot cars and Lionel train sets. Black Bart, red ryder BB guns, play-dough fun factories and all kinds of board games. It's fun just browsing around. (quite the authority on comic books too) On the bicycle end of things, they have the bits and parts that most any cyclist could need. Bicycles of all shapes and sizes. Tires hanging from the ceiling, in a classic bike shop atmosphere. Repaired and adjusted bikes crowed around the side door. The adjustment only took a few minutes as my friend and Mike commiserated while fine tuning the wheels. (he really knew what he was doing) February being a slow month in the shop, still had its share of adjusted and repaired ready to go. A good time to get in for a tune-up. Fast personalized service.

I love coming in here and taking a stroll around the store and checking out their art and used book section in the basement. I do feel like their book selection is not as full as it once was, which makes it hard it always find the books I am looking for. I had a little spare time while passing by again today, and pulled in. I was immediately greeted by Riley, a good natured Golden Retriever with a tail on non-stop wag mode. Passing through the door, I was also hailed by Dan Curtis, who owns the shop with his wife, Julie. Dan warmly welcomed me right away. For a small, cozy shop in someone's home, it is PACKED full of lovely things; handmade candles, birdhouses, decorative hand painted signs, antiqued furniture, floral arrangements, tea, etc. And even though the sheer amount of goods was a little staggering, there was definitely order to it. I was immediately charmed. While I browsed, Dan chatted with me and another customer perusing the shelves. "95% of the things you see in the shop are made right here by my bride," he informed me. "There's nothing she can't do." Looking around, it was hard not to be impressed. A few minutes later, Julie came out, and like her husband, I found her very gracious and welcoming. She was happy to chat with us. For handmade things, I was surprised to see that the prices really weren't as high as I expected them to be. I picked out three wall accents, and I think I spent less than forty bucks. Not bad. I could have bought more (and wanted to) but my budget wouldn't allow it. This place is awesome, and I love love love supporting a local business, especially one run by such friendly people. I'll definitely be back - they have great gifts! Oh, and a tip - if you can't make it in during normal hours, you can make an appointment. I've also dealt with Alyssa previously and she was wonderful to deal with. They're the only spot really to get your skis in Buffalo. Their prices are cheaper than online, which is kind of hard to do.
