When I first got here, everything seemed fine at first , the staff was polite when I checked in and got set up. But once I got out on the range, it quickly became frustrating. I was constantly interrupted within the first few minutes by a staff member who runs their training class. He kept nitpicking how I was shooting, even though there was nothing unsafe or incorrect about what I was doing. I wasn't there for a lesson, and I didn't ask for advice, yet he hovered and kept trying to "teach" me. This went on for at least 5-10 minutes when I was just trying to enjoy my time. Later, he came out again and told me that if I hit their target system, I'd be charged $75. At that point, I wasn't even aware I'd hit it and honestly, I don't believe I did. I'm not a professional shooter, and mistakes happen. That's part of what ranges are for. But he made it sound like it was intentional or careless, which it wasn't. A few minutes after that, he came back again accusing me of hitting the target system and insisted I should have been shooting closer, even though I was already at the minimum distance (about 10 feet). The way I was shooting was safe and controlled not high or wild yet I still got charged $75 for supposed "damage." I've been to plenty of other ranges where these kinds of minor marks or wear-and-tear on the system are expected and never even mentioned, let alone charged to the customer. Went today for a little range time. I was shocked to find the range area is hot as hell with no AC. It's also filthy. I'd never go back for that reason alone. On a whim I decided to buy an expensive knife. When the guy behind the counter said my bill for the range time and the knife was $670 I was pretty surprised but went with the transaction. After I left I price checked the knife @ Sportsmans Warehouse and it's $150.00 less. I paid $600 and it's $450 @ SW. Then I check Scheels and it's $339 on sale today. I'm sick I paid almost twice what I could have paid at Scheels. Wow. I checked Caswells website and it says they accept returns for items other than guns/ammo so I emailed the owner Paul. He replied and told me there is no way anyone is selling the knife for $450 so I sent him the ad. From the owner "The map for the infidel mini is $500, that is the lowest price that they allow their retailers to sell the product for. Those selling at that price are invariably online retailers". So I turned 50 and before I turned 50 I made a list of 50 things/experiences I wanted to do that I haven't done yet, and gun shooting was one. I found a Groupon for a shooting package for two, range admission, handgun rental, eye/ear protection, t-shirt and two targets per person. The only out of pocket cost was the ammo. Check in was easy, got set up for my safety class since I never shot a gun before. The weapon picked for shotting was a glock 9. We got set up in our lane and got our targets up and we were ready! What a huge disappointment! This place makes a big deal about having ladies days but they sure make it clear they don't value or want women customers. I have been going to caswell for years but have never been treated so poorly. Not sure what changed but if you are female be prepared for a sausage fest. I was sent my father's gun from out of state and told it would be in on Monday by the dealer sending it. I was going to be out of town that day so called Caswells the previous Saturday to let them know but was told (quite bluntly) to just "wait until we call you". Was also not told about the extra fee I'd have to pay when I picked it up or given any other information. Still had not heard by Thursday so called and the man who answered tried to blow me off with "it isn't in our system yet". When I pressed him on it he begrudgingly put me on hold to check. When he came back was told "we do have it so they must have forgotten to call but you can pick it up now". He didn't apologize then nor at anytime while I was in to pick it up. The man who waited on me never looked me in the eye and made it very clear he didn't want to be waiting on me. Another customer was told he had to check with the manage and went to the back to get an answer but when I asked him to speak with a manager, was told to email "Paul". When he brought out the box with my gun in it, it had obviously already been opened and put back together badly but the guy made a big deal of cutting the one re-attached piece of tape so he could "open" it in front of me. We took the handgun class with Theresa today! It was a long class but worth it! Theresa was great and we learned so much in the class. I didn't care for my 9mm because I've shot a 38. A couple times... but she helped me and corrected my grip. She encourages you to keep learning. I would definitely go to the next class especially if she's teaching it. She also has great customer service . She greets you and is helpful. I think sometimes when we go to places? Staff has to be super friendly... customer service is everything! Theresa has that ! As a first time gun owner I'm clueless. I've gone numerous times to C2 tactical to "zero out" my sight and learn my new hand held but left more confused then when I walked in. Words cannot express my gratitude for Milton Means (an instructor that just so happed to be working the counter this evening). It took a matter of 5 minutes and 1 bullet with him to hit the target. I have always been afraid of guns. I guess being a trauma nurse in NYC, and seeing so much damage a bullet can do didn't help my fears. My husband bought me a beginning introduction to hand guns lesson for Christmas this year. I thought well this is one gift I will never use. I made myself go today and learned so much. Theresa was our instructor and she was so wonderful. She really talked a lot about safety and helped me understand what I need to do to be able to protect myself. She was so patient with all of us. This is our second time coming to this location and we've had a great experience both times. The staff has always been nice and accommodating. They give you plenty of time on the range and ladies are free on Tuesday and Friday. We made an reservation so we didn't have to wait. They also sell guns and ammo. If you forget your glasses or earbuds they have some for sell. They also have classes! They're kind of hard to find because they're tucked away so definitely use your gps. Lol read more

I've come to Caswells on and off for years, but recently started going weekly to help train for USPSA competition. I've had the opportunity to speak to most if not all the staff and have only had great experiences. They've helped with rentals, product and gear fitment tips, qualifiers for holster draws, diagnosed malfunctions, submission of forms to the ATF (with great phone/text communication), recommendations on local competitions, help finding a reputable gun smith, one on one training classes, and general industry shop talk, when it ain't too busy. I've visited all the indoor ranges in the EV but found I like the staff and low-key atmosphere at Caswells the most, and I hope you do too. read more

Staff are warm, welcoming and certainly put the novice at ease.. Our instructor "Teresa" was down to earth and honest, and broke down every part of gun safety for us. Teresa wasn't afraid to tell us the mistakes she'd made along the way of her "weapons journey" from novice to instructor. (In only 4yrs) this certainly made us feel more comfortable. We had 12 people in our class, all ages and from all walks of life, we all listened, asked questions and learnt. My only very minor concern was that the men's bathroom was a little grubby. For me personally, I disagree with a majority of the negative reviews. I like that Caswells is discreet, located near my home and easily accessible. Caswells is a nice indoor range. I have a great time anytime I am go. This was the first indoor range I went to in Arizona. I haven't been to C2 or any of the other valley ranges because Caswells is a perfect location from my house and there are a ton of lunch options a mile or so up the street. I am still leaving 5 starts however, the first experience I had was bit weird. Here are my experiences: The first time I went in I brought a friend I hate to even write that he was uncomfortable and it was due to the staff and customer service he received I don't think I need to state his race but if it was any worse I wouldn't have been back. I thought it was unacceptable and it really threw me off to say the least... The second time I went in and had a great time I was by myself and I enjoyed the time. I actually purchased a membership after my second visit. My third visit was this weekend with a LEO friend and I couldn't have had a better experience the staff were nice, we had tons of fun and the same staff are the ones I have seen previously working while I was in the range. My fourth visit will be next weekend I shoot at least once a week and I can't wait to take my girlfriend for Ladies night on Tuesday and Friday! I am looking forward to taking some classes with Caswells like my CCW etc and I can't wait for my next visit... I am an active member and I don't see that changing anytime soon. I went to a ladies class for the first time (Women if Steel) in hopes to feel more comfortable with my hand gun. I wasn't welcomed or asked if I was new to the class and was treated like I knew everything that had been taught in previous classes. The instructor Catherine was rude a couple of times when I didn't do something according to the rules ( again, I was a NEW student). Instead of talking privately to me, she called me out in front of the class which was very embarrassing and humiliating. I will not be back or recommend this place to anyone. I have been at Casewells several times now, I've spoke directly with the owner Paul, who we found knowledgeable, extremely professional, kind and friendly. My daughter got her first CC hand gun from them and Paul delt with us personally And was very patient, as my daughter asked many questions, and between Paul and I we narrowed her search down to 3 handguns, which she rented and tested to See which she preferred. The only good thing about this gun range I can say is the prices for the rifles and handgun rentals. Other than that it's not great at all. Went there cause I had my suppressor fixed and wanted to shoot it. And doing the Maintenance on it. Kept getting dirty stares at myself. And buddy kept saying why they just kept staring at only us. Not the other people at the range. Just us. Plus they are heavily stricter than other gun ranges. Only one I've been to that doesn't allow to shoot at a quick pace. My recommendation, go to gun club 82. They're more relaxed, but at the same time still a safe indoor shooting range. And more fun. read more

Initial call about shooting range and using Groupon was not an issue. I was told Groupon voucher needed to be redeem at range. No problem. Hours 9-5 sun. When arriving, we were not greeted too friendly. An uncomfortable feeling with the 2 individuals working front counter. Caucasian female and male, heavily tatted with a stick up their ass. Racists or having a bad day but not kind. The lady was slumped over, eyeballed myself and friend both exuding negative energy leaving us feeling uncomfortable to say the least. We used the Groupon, limited to 1 hour, extra charge for extra person shooting and 3 people at lane. The gun rented locked up at least twice and guns needed to be clean. The man inside the range was very nice but will I be back, Nope. The ammo was $35 a round of 9mm, 380 cost even more. $10 -$15 over cost of most gun shops. The lane was very tight as opposed to many places yet the distance for you to stand awaiting your turn to shoot was hazardous. Shells were all over the floor with not too many stopping points to clean up your area. I truly never felt more uncomfortable at a shooting range as here. Management should assess their staff on friendliness and the ability to speak to individuals of other ethnicities and background. My husband and I came here to take the P100 class with Annie L. She was so friendly and knowledgeable. She was very thorough and answered any questions that we had. The class size was small, 6 of us in total and varied from people who had little experience to none with firearms. We took breaks in between and in the end applied what we learned to the range which was my fave part. Annie focused on each person and when we were comfortable enough shot our targets with the guns we either brought or rented from them. I was interested in getting a Glock 43 but then Annie showed me the Sig Sauer P365 which was a dream to shoot for me. This is a perfect concealed carry for me. The class section of it took about 3 hours but that time flew by. I just picked up my new handgun yesterday and can't wait to try it out at their range today! read more

Caswell's is my new go-to shooting range in the east valley. So far, I've visited 5 times and had a great experience every time. RANGE - 11 indoor lanes for pistol, rifle, or shotgun. Online reservations are available. Updated target retrieval system is easy to use. Adjustable target distance from 10 to 65 feet. Rangemasters are attentive and very helpful. Individual instruction is available. Clean and well kept facility. STORE - Something for everyone. Good selection and variety to choose from. Sales staff is knowledgeable and will offer suggestions based on your use case. Went in to buy a Glock 43 and left with a 43X (similar size, higher capacity, similar price) after suggestion from staff. EXTRA CREDIT - The entire staff is very friendly. I've seen them coach new shooters at check-in and on range, and they make everyone feel comfortable and welcome. Been to this range a few times. Most of the employees there are pretty cool, knowledgeable, and friendly. We(friends and I) have brought some pretty cool "rare guns" in there and the employees are always awesome with it. Anyway, this latest time I went in; I got yelled at for rapid fire. But it wasn't me, I've been to many ranges, shot my whole life, respect all the rules and other shooters. Here's the story. 2 guys that were 3 bays down from us(literally right in front of the window for the employees/range master to watch everyone), they arrived to the range a bit after us. They were clearly new to shooting ranges because the range employee showed them to their bay, set up their targets, etc. The 2 guys immediately mag dump their hand guns. I back up and look over to my right like "what the hell." Personally I don't mind rapid fire, we're at a range practicing after all. But I know it's a big no-no at ranges. Especially just mag dumping. I could see their target and he only hit paper with 3 rounds from 10 feet. I continue shooting, and about 1 minute later an employee comes out, taps me on the shoulder and says "knock it the fuck off." I turn around confused and say "what?" Then he says "stop with the rapid fire." So I said "it wasn't me, I think it's the two guys over there." He then says "I don't give a fuck about somebody else. Boom boom, pause, boom boom, pause. Get it?" So I just "okay." Packed my stuff and left. On my way out he looked at me and said "I hope you had fun." Like come on dude. I've been there before a few times before. I literally asked y'all in the beginning if I could be in a bay away from others so that my rifle wouldn't be annoying to the person next to me(compensator). Won't be coming back here for a bit, if at all. If I do, and I see that same employee; we'll have a talk and see how that goes. My initial contact with Caswell's was in 1997 and it was a far more relaxed atmosphere . My next contact was April 2021 and the front counter staff were fantastic. One even provided me with valuable advice. The Rangemaster however, is somewhat of a Nazi. I understand there are rules and I broke several of them without intending to. It was the gruff manner of delivery that I found off putting. The stalls are quite small and I was attempting to teach my girlfriend to shoot and he was all over us for being behind the line, shooting steel cased ammo, etc. All things we did not mean to do and now know better. However, it was the unprofessional attitude those words were spoken with. I found Ted's Shooting Range to be quite the reverse and tho it is much farther I can just shoot there, knowing all the rules now as I do. The reloaded ammo is cheap and you can use your own. They leave you alone there and when they talk to you, it is with respect. As for Caswell's-you lost several customers, including me as I was considering training courses for myself and several friends. You could have had our repeat business, had you not your Range-Nazi. My final verdict? buy guns, ammo, and accessories at Caswell's if you like-but don't you dare shoot! read more

Beware- before you shoot they will hand you a cardboard target holder full of holes and warn you not to hit the steel holder that clips the cardboard target holder.
