I liked this place because it is cats only. They are definitely all about money and tests, however unnecessary the procedures or tests are at the time. It is a business and about money at the end of the day. The Vets also recommend food that is known to cause long term problems as it has vegetation in the supplement and cats are purely carnivorous. All that can be set aside for attentive care, since as the owner you can say yes/no to services/food you give your fur baby; however, the office staff made mistakes, and didn't make things right. In fact, they actually made things worse, specifically Tracey. I made an appointment for my fur babies and waited an entire month for my appointment. The day prior, during confirmation; the mistakes that the office made came to light; however there was no time to fix these wrongs. They did not even try or offer apologies or sympathy. When I tried to explain how their mistakes had (negatively) impacted and effected me; Tracey began to raise her voice and told me there was nothing they could do, and I would have to wait yet another month for a second appointment (so I would've had to come back and wait two months all due to their mistake). And some of what I need done on my pet is time sensitive and needs to be taken care of right away. Of course they couldn't care less. So yes, Tracey, I raised my voice back at you and stood up for myself. You are a horrible person! You are trained in how to trigger clients and get them to react to your abuse!! Rather than making amends or offering understanding, you are stubborn, rude, uncaring, and terribly unprofessional. I found other cat only clinics in both OC and LA. I'm not sure if Tracey was acting out of her position as an office staff member and not a vet to make certain decisions (that were wrong), but I would still like or speak to a vet about what happened. ************** Additionally, I found out that they bad mouthed me to the new clinic when I had my records transferred over. Slander is part of their professionalism? When the new vet told me what this clinic had said, they also confirmed the medicine cat clinic recommended for my senior cat was making her worse and the anti nausea was at too low of a dose to actually help which is why it wasn't working. ************ Cat clinic needs to focus on providing proper cat care and customer service!! read more

I took my 6 yr old orange tabby to Cat Clinic yesterday to see Dr. Steinberg and I will definitely make this our regular cat vet. First, my cat was really calm there and I think it is because the staff work hard to make the environment soothing for cats. No dogs, loud noises, and feliway-soaked towels to throw over the carrier! Dr. Steinberg spent a lot of time with me and gave me excellent, specific advice about my cat's diet. The consultation fee was the same as the other vets I've been to in the past, so extremely reasonable for someone who is a cat specialist. I will be back! read more

Dr. Steinberg and all of the staff at the Cat Clinic are wonderful! My cat hates going to the vet, but is much calmer coming here than my previous vet, as there are only cats there (no barking dogs) and it has never been crowded when I have been there - maybe 1-2 other customers in the waiting area. Most importantly, they are experts on cats and very thorough. Dr. Steinberg caught the fact that my cat had 2 bladder stones and removed them before he had any problems. They are also very caring and provide excellent advice. There is truly no better place to take your cat/cats for care. Dr. Steinberg and her staff are amazing. I met with Dr. Steinberg when my 10 year old, Bailey got sick. The previous vet I was going to just started to make me feel uneasy as if he really more specialized in dogs, and I felt like I was going around in circles with him. I knew something was seriously wrong my boy, and decided to take him here. I could not be more happier that I did....The Cat Clinic staff are all amazing, very professional and you can truly feel their love for felines. Dr. Steinberg took her time with me and Bailey, I didn't feel rushed like she was trying to get to her next patient as I felt with my past vets. I got to ask all the questions I needed to and together we came up with a game plan that I was comfortable with while being conscious of my budget. After finding out that Bailey had cancer, Dr. Steinberg could not have been more comforting. There wasn't much more I was going to be able to do except make him comfortable for the next couple of months of his life. Dr. Steinberg was very upfront with me, gave me all my options and didn't try to sell me on any unnecessary treatments. She was real, and having to hear such sad news, I appreciated that. When it came time to send Bailey to kitty heaven, her staff and her could not have been more sensitive, comforting, and accommodating to both me and Bailey. I'll never forget that day, and I'll never forget the support and sympathy I felt from Dr. Steinberg. What was even more touching, is a few weeks later I received a letter in the mail from the School of Veterinary Medicine, US Davis. Dr. Steinberg and staff had made a memorial donation to the 'Companion Animal Memorial Fund' in memory of Bailey. I stood in my kitchen after opening the letter and wept. It was the kindest gift anybody could have given me after something so heartbreaking. Writing this it brings tears to my eyes. I brought our cat Clarisse in to the Cat Clinic, September 2016 for a second opinion. As soon as we entered the facility, my husband and I were greeted by the receptionist with a warm smile and a Hello. From that point on, the visit continue to only get better. Dr. Steinberg is a very warm and caring Vet. Specializing only in feline care. This helped make our decision to follow through on her recommendations for treatment, very easy to do. She and the entire staff are "top-notch; professional, and caring." They follow up with their clients to see how the cat is doing; they 'encourage' each client to call with questions, comments or concerns at ANY time, and they WILL return your phone call's that day. Plus, I can get refills on medications, quickly. Dr. Steinberg herself, she goes the extra mile. I have had personal conversations with her over the phone, as well as via email and in the office. I truly feel she 'cares' about our Clarisse, as if it were her own cat. They have a TERRIFIC Boarding center on the second floor. One can be assured when the leave their cat at The Cat Clinic to board for a day or more, they will be treated exceptionally! Also, they have a full line of feline products in the lobby. The building is just fairly easy to locate, use your GPS if it's the first time. Just one building West from the corner, immediately on the left hand side. Plenty of parking. The problem I have is that they overcharge and gouge you, every which way they can! Prescriptions - OVER 100% mark up from an on-line pharmacy - for the exact same thing $33 at Heartland Vet Pharmacy and $75 at the Cat Clinic, for example. 1 Capstar pill - $13.50... at the clinic. About $4.50 (when you buy 6) on Amazon - They charge 300% MORE! 6 pack of Vectra - $121 at the clinic. $56 for the same thing on Amazon. They charge 100%+ more at the clinic!! Prescription cat food is the same - over 100% mark up! Look it up yourselves! Amazon, Chewy, and there are several on line Cat Pharmacies - and there's always the Good RX App - compare prices to what the Cat Clinic has charged you! The Cat Clinic will give you a written prescription if you choose to buy the products elsewhere. I understand they have overhead - but really??? Marking up products 100, 200, 300% - isn't that gouging?? Cat Clinic - Isn't there another way? Very responsive, take immediate care and concern for pets. In emergencies they have also helped try to squeeze me in for my cat. As my cat is often very skittish and aggressive around others, he somehow does fine and is comfortable with them. Would not go anywhere else. This place was a life saver in the beginning of my journey with my cat who had just been diagnosed with diabetes and had an extremely traumatic visit with another vet. They were so kind and gentle and my cat had absolutely no issues with them. It's a bit pricey, but at the time I just wanted my baby to feel better, so I paid. The receptionist/vet tech girls are so nice and helpful, I always had great experiences while there. My first issue was that there is an in house fructosamine test ($30 bucks or something around there) and then there is the send to lab fructosamine test ($120 or in that ballpark), I was not told at the time of my appointment or beforehand that they were out of the in-house test, they waited to tell me until after I had already brought my stressed cat in and had her blood drawn. Dr. Evans told me I didn't have to do the lab send out test if I didn't want to and could bring her back for another appointment to do the in house test. I felt bad and didn't want my cat to have to go through all that again so I paid it. I'm annoyed that I was not made aware until AFTER she was poked and prodded. Cats with diabetes should be on a high protein low carb diet, yet Dr. Evans had me feeding her prescription diet wet food that actually had 36% carbs in it! She should really only have 7% or less!! My cats blood sugar stayed in the higher levels because of this. I did my research and found a wet food that is non prescription low calorie, low carb, and high protein and my cat has been insulin free for over 4 weeks now with completely regulated blood sugar levels via our alphatrak tester. I'm quite appalled that they would recommend a food, knowing that it's high in carbs which is exactly what a diabetic cat does not need!! Also my cat was on the prescription diet for over 2 months and only lost 2 oz, she had no treats or anything besides her daily portions. I can't help but feel that this place is a money pit. I appreciate that they were so great with us during that stressful time, but I just can't give my very hard earned money to someone who makes me feel like I'm being taken advantage of. read more

Very caring, friendly and knowledgeable staff! I recently became a new cat mom, having adopted a cat after a friend's sudden passing. I've never had a cat and took my new feline friend in to the Cat Clinic for an overall wellness check and to discuss her weight (22 lbs). The staff gave her an overdue booster shot, answered all my questions and gave me a lot of reassurance. They had me try prescription food but the cat wouldn't touch it, so The Cat Clinic allowed me to return it for a refund. Here it is a month later and both the kitty and I have adjusted very well, time for a followup visit! Long story short. Another vet caused our cat to have diabetes and a massive vet bill over a month period of time. We were desperate to find a cat only vet. My wife posted an online question for recommendations and the Cat Clinic seemed to be the place to go for cat owners. They were right! They took care of our cat for 3 years. The sad day came when no matter the amount of money I spent, there was nothing we could do to save our kitty. The cat clinic recommended a in home vet to do what was needed. Not only did we receive a sympathy card in the mail from them we received a letter from the University of California, Davis informing us that Dr Diane Steinberg made a memorial donation to them in the name of our cat for research and support studies confronting small domestic animals. I had started taking my senior kitty Cupcake to this hospital this year because as she aged, I wanted the best for her health with doctors and staff who would know cats best. She's had always been nervous at the vet, so I felt like a cat clinic was the way to go to make sure she was handled properly. Unfortunately this past month, she was diagnosed with cancer here and I was so worried about her breathing when the slightest bit stressed and the fact she wasn't eating well and just not herself anymore, that we made the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye. While I wish she had more healthy time with us, I think this clinic was a really good place for her and if I had other cats, they would be coming here for sure. With the pandemic, everything has been curbside but we had no issues with that the times we had gone. All the staff and vets I've talked to on the phone are very kind and thorough and I always appreciated being sent a little report card about her visits after as well. Even though I said good bye to my kitty at a VCA just for scheduling purposes, Cat Clinic staff still sent me a heartfelt card with condolences about my kitty. OFFICE MANAGER DOES NOT UNDERSTAND CUSTOMER SERVICE, I FIRED THEM AS MY CAT'S VET, AND THEN OFFICE MANAGER SENDS ME A CYA LETTER. I was a repeat customer of this veterinary facility. I liked the fact that it had a convenient location and specialized in feline health. Also, I found the vet to be quite compassionate and knowledgable, but her staff was routinely unusually hard to deal with and totally unaccommodating compared to every other veterinary office I've visited in California and elsewhere. The staff wouldn't matter except they the young women who run the place control access, scheduling, etc. Two visits ago, the vet told me I had to run a whole bunch of (frankly unnecessary) tests, and frankly I felt ripped off after spending over $500 when nothing was wrong with my cat (thank God). Then, more recently, I returned and took my cat for routine shots. The vet suggested splitting up the shots (to avoid overwhelming the cat's immune system) and I agreed. She explained the second shot could be simply given by a vet tech. Should be simple, right? Not at the Cat Clinic. Two weeks later, after repeated phone calls, I could not get on the Cat Clinic's tightly-controlled vet tech schedule. They could not accommodate me during my lunch hour (from work) or after work (between 5pm and 6pm), any day of the week. I finally asked the office manager Tracy if she could let me just come by with my cat either some evening or on the weekend and was told that she could schedule me 2 weeks hence. I explained how ridiculous this was - - particularly considering it was only a 1 minute shot and I was happy to wait around in their lobby. Her response was that the vet techs needed 20 minutes to weigh my cat and take its temperature before administering the 1 minute shot. And because they needed 20 minutes, there were no available appointments. I again offered to bring the cat and wait around until a break occurred in their schedule, but Tracy was not willing to accommodate that option. I concluded that going forward after this shot, it would make better sense for me to take my cat elsewhere for regular treatment since the Cat Clinic was so needlessly (in my opinion) rigid and unaccommodating with respect to scheduling such a simple thing for a repeat customer, and I have to actually work for a living from 8-5. A couple of days later, I received a letter in the mail from Tracy, the Queen of Customer Service, saying that they refused to provide my cat with any further treatment because my "recent interactions with their clinic made it impossible" for them to "communicate with trust and confidence". Seriously? What arrogance for them to try to turn that little interaction around in a CYA letter. So now here on Yelp I will be more direct and not beat around the bush: This clinic is very expensive compared to other clinics. It doesn't produce better results, or offer more specialized feline services. I am well-acquainted with all feline vets in Orange County, and elsewhere in California (including UC Davis) and I fired the Cat Clinic. For an office manager to create new problems instead of simply resolve a problem was the last thing I'd expected when I asked to speak with her, and frankly I fired them because of her actions. Any decent office manager without a huge ego problem would have recognized that sometimes customer service means being flexible. read more

My cat was suddenly not eating. After several visits, we decided to do a series of barium X-rays. Dr. Diane came back at 9pm to do a follow up X-ray since the process was going much slower than expected. Although the situation is not fully resolved, it looks like we will be able to avoid surgery. I adopted another Burmese but she developed a heart condition and I lost her when she was 4. I probably won't get another cat because my daughter is allergic to them and lives with me now. Dr. Diane Steinberg and her staff love cats and it shows in everything they do. The quality of vet care is very high and the environment is so low stress for cats who hate going to the vet. Mine used to lose it in their crate of the way to the vet and cowered in the corner during the entire visit. It was difficult just to get them weighed at the old vet who was a perfectly nice and good vet, just had a multi-species office which the cats hated. Once they are at the cat clinic, they are still nervous but they relax with the vet and the assistants and it's no longer impossible for me to get them both in by myself. read more
