They have always gone above and beyond in taking care of my kitty, Freddie. He's lovingly known as Mr. Orange Personality at home and it's always great to hear that his outgoing nature is just as well-loved by the staff at Hydrant. Recently, I adopted a second kitty, Eddie, who's a little more skittish to strangers. I was worried that he might not adjust well to overnight boarding but we couldn't be happier with the experience! I was recommended to Hydrant by a very close family friend, and I'm so glad I listened. As a first-time dog mom, I was hesitant about leaving Hayes for a trip. After getting a tour, I felt so much more comfortable, and once I saw how much fun my dog was having, all my worries disappeared. The staff is truly amazing. Daisy, in particular, is incredible--she cares so much and makes you feel confident and at ease. The facility itself is spotless, welcoming, and full of positive energy. Brought my cat here for boarding a few weeks ago and was very happy with the whole process. Everyone I talked with was very sweet and patient with me as I was a little nervous leaving her for the first time. They even sent me photo updates throughout her stay to let me know she was in good hands. I don't have to board her often but the next time I do, it will be here. UPDATE: We just got home and took a look at our cat and she lost a significant amount of weight. She was there from Friday morning to Monday evening, and when I picked her up, I asked the staff if she ate well during the stay or if there were any problems. The lady told me that our cat had trouble eating the first day (Friday) but that she had no problems eating the following days. If this is true, then why did she lose so much weight?? She was supposed to eat three meals a day (kibble and a squeeze tube) like she does at home. I will not be bring my cats back here. I cannot trust what the staff says, and like the other reviews, I feel that they have a strong preference for dogs and cater to their needs over the cats. Smells like urine inside of the building... really strong urine smell mixed with fragrance to cover it up. Last time is wasn't as bad but this time, it was headache inducing. The pet store and vets office doesn't smell this bad, not sure why Hydrant Pet Hotel would. Our pets items came home smelling really bad. read more

We are so grateful for Hydrant and its staff for taking such good care of JoJo, our Australian labradoodle. We have boarded with them multiple times and I can relax on vacation because she is in good hands. Ms. jojo is happiest when she is in her home and with her people but we know Hydrant is the best alternative because of the private room and personalized care. Most recently we boarded her for over a week for our wedding and honeymoon. She had some issues with eating (it happens when one of us is out of town so I was not surprised it happened during boarding) and they were in frequent contact with us and went above and beyond with one on one time and giving her different foods to spark the appetite. Our wedding party erupted in cheers when I got the report that she had eaten some food. We know our dog hates being away from us but we have to get away sometimes and we know Hydrant is the best alternative. And then of course when she was dropped off at my mother in laws (because we were still on our honeymoon) she reported JoJo cried when the caretaker dropped her off . I really don't understand the reviews complaining about no refunds. They lose money if a boarding reservation ends early and that is a price I will happily pay to pick up my dog early if something comes up. Thank you to staff for treating JoJo like one of your own and for the good communication we receive. We had an okay experience here, initially staff was a little snooty and it's pricey, but whatever. However, after six months of boarding and daycare visits, we had a change in travel plans that had us pick our dogs up early from a stay (our flight was cancelled so we didn't get to go on our trip), and they charged us for the WHOLE stay including 4 full days they weren't there, "per policy"... meaning they charged us $500 for an early pickup. I had understood that non-refundable deposits could be applied to a future stay, not just pocketed for funsies, but of course that wasn't the case. The manager wanted to "remedy the situation" but wouldn't actually do anything that would remedy it. My remedy: we'll be booking with another center and never recommending this one. read more

This is overdue but the Hydrant Pet Hotel is amazing! I had a last minute cancellation from my dog sitter a week before our trip to Cabo and happy to have found this gem of a place. I 1st spoke to Lyndsey who was so helpful to reassure me how they operate and went in for a tour. Upon arrival, Stacey (manager) gave me a tour and I could see that the staff really loves and takes pride of making sure all pups are happy, looked after, and having fun. My pups Nala and Cloud were happy each time we'd pick them up from day care and after our trip. I will definitely be using the Hydrant Pet Hotel for day care and boarding for future! read more

It's a wonderful environment with a very friendly staff. For about the price of most boarding facilities, my large dog got her own room with a bed rather than being in a metal kennel. They have a free-flowing indoor/outdoor play area with a water feature, so dogs can self regulate their temperature. I have been a customer of Hydrant since they opened and never had any issues. They even have a picture of my dog on the wall. They have always been very professional. However, recently my wife booked an extended boarding for our pet via their text messaging service which is normal operating procedure with them for services. We were advised and acknowledged an $80 non refundable deposit that was charged to our CC at the time of booking. However when we chose to cancel 48 hrs prior to the reservation they decided to charge the entire amount of $400 with no discount or service credit. The only accommodation they offered was to bathe her but only during the period we booked. They told us their policy is clearly stated on their website even though we booked using their texting service. The reason they explained, is the loss of revenue by not have another booking for the room. Even Four Seasons allows 24 hrs for a standard room!?! This review is not meant to be punitive, only to express our disappointment in what was a valued service relationship. I was raised to believe a customer had value. We boarded our cat for the first time at Hydrant. Everyone we met was super kind and nice. I love that they have someone onsite 24/7, that they have flexible hours and are open until 7pm for boarding pick up if needed, that they have the text line so you can ask for updates. I also appreciate that the staff were willing to work on medication administration protocols. This review really is geared for owners, not staff. The staff were overall pretty great. I will preface that this was the first time boarding our cat ever so anxiety was high for both human and cat alike. During the time away I recognized that it was incredibly difficult to not communicate with staff or handlers and there is a fine balance between wanting to text (which they absolutely welcome) and feeling concerned that if I text, I might be pulling a staff's attention away from a cat or dog. So that means unless you contact them, there will be no updates on how your cat is doing. And even when you do ask, sometimes the whole truth wasn't received or there was a lack of follow through. I asked for a photo of our cat and was told it would be on their social media story later in the day. Which didn't happen and this felt so disappointing and if I'm honest, a bit heart breaking because I needed to see her. In my opinion, to board your cat with Hydrant requires a TON of trust and a leap of faith because there is absolutely zero accountability. No cameras to watch your cat throughout the day, no report cards of sorts with updates about how your cat is adjusting/doing, and no way to know or see how often and when there was interaction with staff or when your cat has access outside their condo (if there were cameras you could watch them explore and play). The only option is to text when you want updates and the responses are vague at best and don't give an accurate picture of what's happening while you're away. When we got home and unpacked my cat's belongings we realized that a considerable amount of her cat food had not been consumed. Granted, I anticipated that she may not eat as much if at all in the first 24-48 hours due to stress as this was her first boarding experience. In a 3 day stay she lost approximately 1.6 pounds. On a 9.5 pound cat that's significant. No one from Hydrant reported she wasn't eating well. I specifically asked about eating and elimination habits after she had been there 24 hours and was told, "No issues with any of those things so far!" Now I don't expect them to weigh her or even be able to observe weight loss the way an owner can. However, the hope is some attention is being paid to how much food is being consumed. I packed her enough food for her stay and a majority of it was returned. Lastly, we inspected her nails, nail beds and paw pads and on two of her nails there was blood and the beds were inflamed. Not sure how this happened or when. At Hydrant the focus is on dogs which includes social media. Sadly, I don't know if we would choose to board our cat here again. Not unless considerable improvements were made. Again, this is not a reflection on staff. This is a review for the owners of Hydrant to give your staff more to work with. read more

We have been taking our Golden Doodle, June to The Hydrant since she was a little puppy. We made the mistake with our fist dog and did not socialize her, so we didn't want to make the same mistake with June. We started with day care just so June could get used to other dogs as a puppy.....the free time and boarding were secondary in the beginning. She loved the interaction with other dogs and would come home tired....ready for bed. It really mellowed her out as a puppy. Now that we have been visiting the Hydrant for a few years it is like her home away from home. We board her there while out of town and June always loves her visits....she gets excited to go. My dogs favorite place to be! Hydrant brought out the playful , curious, and joyful nature in my dog. They took the time to carefully socialize her when she was a puppy and now she loves it more than dinner time. She's happy when I pick her up and even saying the word, "daycare" at home she gets so excited she can't even sleep if she knows they're coming to pick her up in their taxi service. She can't wait to greet the friendly staff with speedy tail wags and a smile. Everyone who works here is friendly and can tell really cares for our girl. There are so many doggy daycares in Orange County, but most of them seem out-of-date, facilities-wise. After looking at endless Yelp pages and websites, I decided to check out Hydrant. Cheeto (my dog) has been doing daily daycare with them for the last 6 months and will continue to do so. The building itself is the most modern I have seen in OC and also has outdoor play areas (solid balance between indoor and outdoor). The staff is absolutely amazing and are incredibly thoughtful. You can tell that everyone cares about the dogs that come in. They are reachable by text and are quick to respond, which I think is super convenient. Excellent customer service here. I would highly recommend Hydrant to anyone who is considering daycare for their pup. I always appreciate the recap of Cheeto's day when I pick him up. We brought our older pups here for the first time this week and we cannot say enough great things. They stayed for 4 nights of boarding and 5 days of daycare, plus baths and nail trims. The HPH staff have a text line and were so gracious and responsive when I texted to check in to see how our guys were doing. Hydrant is the best! My wife and I take our two dogs, Biggie and Oscar, all the time. We found them when we were living in Huntington Beach and have moved 25 minutes away to Aliso Viejo and we still drive out of our way to take them there. We have tried a number of different dog boarding and doggy daycare places in several areas of Orange County, and trust me, nothing is up to our standards for our dogs except for Hydrant. They remember them by name when we bring them in, they keep us up to date with how they're doing when we're on trips, and the staff is always so great and welcoming to us.
