My husband and I were looking for a landscape designer and were fortunate to find Cat Valand. She was easy to correspond with, came to our home in Clayton and walked our property with us asking us questions as well as listening to our ideas. Once our discussion was over she continued to stay on the property taking notes and picures. When our design was complete she once again came to our home and went over her plan and ideas for our yard. We were amazed at what a beautiful and thorough job Cat did for us. Cat is a true professional. She is thorough, quick, and organized, but most importantly she listens. Once Cat has completed her design, she comes to your home to review the design and provides you with a binder to cross reference the design. The binder contains cut sheets of all of the plants that she's specified so you can see what they look like. We met with Cat to discuss our needs on Monday and she presented her designs on Thursday. She is efficient with her time and this translates to her customers. My husband and I had a list of things that we wanted, and she ticked the boxes for all of them. Cat was wonderful to work with. I didn't have a very specific idea of what i wanted and she was extremely talented at taking my vague inputs and transforming them into perfect designs that totally suit my house and style. During the process I'd notice plants or features of other landscaping, forget to tell her, and she somehow intuited many of these items into the final design! I also had a (probably unconventional) request to retain my backyard moss, which she fully respected, and even gave me instructions at helping it thrive. She also gave me a ballpark estimate of the design quote based on the acreage of my property. I was so impressed with her design plan. It was so much better than I had expected, and was quite impressive.
