Food/drinks are self-service here, which means you straight walk in to the cafe and order to your left. You'll take your drinks (coffee, etc.), and they'll bring the food out to you. They have a menu in both Portuguese and English, but the menu isn't always visible so just ask them for one and they'll pull one right up from the counter. I like their Dutch Sandwiches (I think those were what they called it), which is basically like flatbread sandwiches. The sandwiches and salads are prepared onsite, surprisingly - you wouldn't think they can actually cook much in such a small kitchen/counter space. Their pastries are ok too, but I don't think the pastries are prepared there. Note that "cafe" in Portugal basically means an espresso. You can also order your coffee decaf, but it'll still be an espresso. If you want something milder, like the American cup o' joe, ask for an Abatanado - I didn't see it on the menu in this cafe, but usually other Portuguese cafes have this option. They do have Garoto, which they call "latte", but really it's just the same espresso with maybe three teaspoons of milk (atleast it tasted that way) - don't expect to find the typical latte you would get in the States. If you're okay with very milky coffee (milkier than the standard American latte), order a Galao (usually about three quarters of the cup is milk) or Meia de Leite ("Half Milk" = half of the cup is milk). The cafe is pretty small, about 5~6 picnic tables outside, where you can see the Dune and the Ocean from afar. They always keep a bowl full of water for dogs, and hence my family calls it the "dog cafe". They also have indoor seating, but it tends to be a little warmer and a bit stuffy. Still, nice natural colors. Parking is a bit tricky here, especially the way out - which is typical of parking lots in Portugal, since they seem to have smaller individual car spaces than the ones in California usually do. Be careful not to scratch any other car on your way out! Tip: You can walk down the dune from this cafe. Just follow where the people are going, or follow the signs! It's a narrow walk, but quite nice. Many people either jog or walk with their dogs.

I went with my family who is not into that concept, and so I had to choose just one dish that I would not be sharing, as no one else wanted to share theirs either. Some of the dishes were quite small, but mine was not! I ordered the octopus which was cooked to perfection and had a mix of potatoes and greens underneath. Would definitely order this again! It was one of the best octopus dishes I've ever had. The one thing we did share was the croquettes. The calamari was cooked to perfection as was the shrimp but a few were not cleaned properly but everything tasted good. The chile did have a tiny bite so somebody might think this is spicy but was not for me, finally something with flavor. I did not eat all the pasta because then I ordered the octopus. The octopus was not cleaned properly but the texture was spot on and the taste was great, I added some of my own hot sauce on the side to give it some kick. Odd to have a boiled egg with the octopus, good taste but the green ring indicates the egg was overcooked. Everything was temperature hot and served fairly quickly. WiFi available. Unfortunately, it ended up being the most disappointing--and most expensive--meal we've had during our month in Portugal. The experience got off to a poor start. The hostess wasn't welcoming, and when I politely asked if we could sit closer to the window, I was told those tables had been reserved weeks in advance. We had also made a reservation for our anniversary, so that was disappointing. We were seated behind a pillar instead. Throughout the evening, not a single member of the waitstaff smiled. They all looked unhappy to be there, which created a surprisingly cold atmosphere. None of the staff ever came by to ask how our meal was, and no one acknowledged our anniversary. The restaurant itself wasn't nearly as elegant or luxurious as its reputation suggests. Aside from the lobster tank, the décor and atmosphere felt rather ordinary. To make matters worse, our view overlooked a wire fence and a parking area instead of the beautiful ocean setting we had expected. There were also several odd service issues. I ordered a gin martini. They said they were out of green olives, so I requested a lemon twist instead. The drink arrived with black olives and a lemon twist, which was confusing. As for the food, the complimentary bread with the crab pâté was excellent and easily the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, everything after that was underwhelming. The sea bass was bland and forgettable, and the vegetables were overcooked to the point of being mushy. What made the evening especially disappointing is that every other restaurant we've visited in Cascais has been wonderful. Friendly, smiling staff checked on us, made us feel welcome, and served memorable meals--often at much lower prices. Given Mar do Inferno's reputation and premium prices, we expected an exceptional dining experience. Instead, we left wondering how it has earned such glowing reviews. Sooo I was so happy to find Restaurante Mar Do Inferno! It had gorgeous views of the Atlantic Ocean and the best seafood ! We made our reservation online before leaving California. It was easy and had an English and Portuguese option. We arrived and once we got there we were greeted warmly and seated quickly . There were all these fresh seafood options that you could pick from in live tanks ! Service was top tier !! Our waiter was funny and very entertaining! He warmed up even more as the evening progressed! We had the best view of the sea and ambiance was lovely ! We ordered the seafood platter - langoustines, lobster, prawns, sea bream, potatoes in a garlic butter sauce !! Everything was SO FRESH!! So delicious !!! Great wine selection especially European wines and cocktails too !! Hubby loved it and we definitely will come back next time we are in Portugal!!
