Pretty fun place, lots of cute cats. Only issue was when we went it for the purpose of looking for a cat to adopt. We clarified with the lady at the desk that it was for adoption and she said yes. We paid our $16 each and went in. First issue is you are not allowed to pick up or hold any of the cats. I can see why they might have to say that to certain people, but it should be on a case by case basis. Older or bigger people don't really want to sit on the floor and wait for the cats to approach them, especially if it's crowded and the cats are being occupied by too many others. Second thing is the man inside told us all but one of the cats were "already spoken for" and not available for adoption, which seemed silly. Of the one cat they had no information regarding if they were good with other animals or kids. Also, they were mostly kittens, which isn't ideal for everyone looking to adopt. Basically, if you just want to sit on the floor drinking tea and petting cats it's a cute place. If you're seriously looking to adopt a cat you should probably go elsewhere. read more

What an amazing place! Made for a perfect valentines date. The interior design is really well done - the cats have lots of room to roam and relax, with lots of toys, quiet spaces, sunlight, and giant windows with good views of birds outside. There are good spaces for cats to sleep and move away if they don't want attention. The staff came in and even showed everyone some ways to play with the cats that they enjoy (hiding the cat toys under the rug and wiggling it around). They were all very nice. They also have shoe covers they provide to keep the room nice and clean! I was shocked at how cheap both the food/drinks/snacks at the cafe were too! They were absolutely delicious, I had the sesame hot chocolate for the hot chocolate festival. Highly recommend stopping by! I will definitely be coming by again. read more

I arrived with no appointment on Thursday at 11:55am and they had space to let my son and I take the 12-1pm time slot. All the staff were wonderful - great at answering question and welcoming. The space is quite large for the number of cats and guests. It's also clean and well maintained. My son enjoyed reading about each cat after he pet or played with it. His favorite was Elmo, a black cat. The indoor plaza that Carfe is in has Chinatown on one side, and the edge of the stadium neighborhood on the other end. The Chinatown side is abut more dicey, but still okay (we left through that entrance/exit to go get some staples from Chinatown). If you have no need to go to Chinatown, I'd use the Keefer Place entrance, especially with younger kids. read more

Went there a couple of weeks ago with my cousins and had a great time! The place is very clean and there are many measures in place to ensure that every customer is washing their hands so that the cats remain clean. Truly appreciate that! The staff were very nice and took the time to explain the background of all the cats. The area was spacious enough for all customers to enjoy and their timeslots ensure that all customers have enough time without overcrowding the place. One thing I would say is that they don't have a lot of options for food and the food that we did get, we were not able to eat properly because cats would surround it and we would have to move it around. I've gone to the Catfe several times but have never tried any of their food or drinks. I come solely for cats! Your visit really just depends on the personality of the cats when you visit! The staff always provide really good service. There's a handy handwashing station at the entrance. Lots of cat toy options to use. The ambiance is very casual, cozy, and clean. It's a little hot in there when the sun is out so beware--it's very exposed due to the large windows. You can easily cool down in shaded areas though. When I came at 1pm, a lot of the cats seemed really sleepy--it must have been siesta time! Most of the cats were really relaxed and didn't run away when you came up to them to pet them. In our search for a cat to adopt, I thought it would be fun for my husband and I to check out the Catfe and spend some time interacting with multiple cats all at once. (In truth, I thought it would be a neat experience, even if we didn't find any cats we wished to adopt). Online reservations may be done through their website, and spots can sell out fast for the prime time reservations. After arriving at the location and seeing the small space of the entire Catfe, I can appreciate their need to encourage people to make reservations. You can show up ahead of time and place your order of drinks/snacks that will be delivered to you once you are inside the cat portion. Personally I was hoping they would have more cost effective drink and snack options, but I didn't dare ask if we could go inside without paying for food. Each time slot is roughly 50 minutes long, and you are given instructions by the friendly "Cat Whisperer" on duty. They will lay out the basic ground rules for how to interact with the cats and be there to answer any questions you may have about the cats up for adoption. We went in the evening, and all the cats were either hiding/napping in the little cubby holes, or stretched out on the counters and very much used to human presence. The Cat Whisperer did his best to let us know which cats may be a good fit for us, but my husband and I both felt like this was not our preferred venue to look for adopting a cat. We probably came during the peak times and while the cats were napping, but we found it incredibly hard to get a good sense of any cat's personality, when so many humans were vying for their attention. It would be a great unique date, don't get me wrong, but my advice is if you are looking to adopt a cat from the Catfe, find a way to come during the slow hours, do your research on which cats are available for adoption (a list is on their website), and ask to see if one-on-one meetings are available. read more

Such a cute cafe doing great work for Vancouver's kitties in need of homes. The interior of the cat cafe was well lit, cutely decorated, and had lots of space for cats and people alike. There is a cute boutique with drinks, food, and cat-themed gifts. The cats were a bit sleepy when we visited at noon, but we still got to pet them and even enjoyed some playtime. The adoption costs seemed high compared to other shelters and cat cafes I've visited, but considering you'd get a well socialized, healthy, and fixed cat, as well as support a great adoption initiative, it'd be well worth it. read more

This was a great cat cafe! Went June 2022 Every city we go to that's bigger than home(anchorage AK) we look up cat cafes! This one is in downtown Vancouver over by the Costco. It's in a not so great mall that has little other to do but it's in a great location with lots of south side windows that let in a lot of sun! I made a reservation one day in advanced online thru their website. I think they were limiting the number of people in at one time. There were 8 of us total. They have a little shop where you can buy treats and coffee that you can bring inside the cat area with you. They have so much cute cat merch. Inside the cat room, there were cats everywhere! Some of them sleeping in the nice sun (who wouldn't be!) there were several playing with toys too. A few cats would jump right into your lap and one perched it's front legs up on my shoulder like he was giving me a hug! There was one lady working in the room and she knew about all the cats but was in there cleaning in case anyone had questions or something. They are all about adopting out the cats so I was happy to support that. It was about 13$ per person which is not bad! There were tons of sleeping quarters, shelves on the walls that the cats climb on and thru, and tons of toys! We've arrived without a reservation on a weekday and the clerk was kind enough to immediately check us in and explain how it works. We absolutely loved the experience! Some of the braver cats immediately came to greet us, while some sleepy heads took the time to wake up ~ but allowed us to kindly pet them! The staff brought our drinks inside the cat area and we enjoyed them while petting the little ones and seeing them play. We were surprised how clean the area was for a place that houses over 20 cats! **Catdads and cat moms beware!! This place is just too adorable!** I went here with my friend Lydia on Feb24th (Monday) and finally kept my promise. I kept my promise bringing her to Catfe and the day finally came. We both paid $10 for admission and my pal spent around $20 including admission, coffee and muffin. We had a blast since it was a slowest day of the week. Weekends are busy where customers are fully booked. Best part was playing with cats. Most of them were shy around people and few were playful. Great place to relieve stress. One tabby kept coming close to my pal and wanted bite of her food. They have toy mouse, laser pointer and other toys. The funniest part was seeing a feisty cat fighting with other cats and got food stolen by another cat LOL. We both had a blast here. We spent more than 2 hours it was more than enough. The staff was super friendly and very caring towards the cats. I also appreciated that you had to book a time slot; good system to avoid crowds overwhelming poor animals. The place itself appeared clean and it didn't even smell bad, despite the fact that they had 20+ cats. The cats seemed relaxed and happy. Some were sleeping and avoided interacting with people, which is totally fine for animals. Can't believe some people left bad reviews "because bunnies didn't want to interact with me". They are animals. The world doesn't revolve around you. Good idea to encourage adoption as you can hang out with cats checking their personalities before making a decision to adopt. Came with a friend to check this place out. It definitely is cheaper than what they offer in the states. We came around 7:30 and paid for an hour, so most of the cats were tired and sleeping, but there were still enough semi-active cats to still enjoy the experience. If you're thinking, cats swarming to you, wanting to cuddle and play....this is not it. I love cats! It's great that they team up with the SPCA to get all the cats adopted! The barista is a chill grad student and a cat enthusiast. I love that the drinks are all cat themed and the gift shop has tons of cat themed goodies available for purchase. I got a hot chococat and a cute ring. I was informed by the barista that a portion of the proceeds goes to the SPCA. In Hawaii, we have cat pop ups and those usually run $7 for half an hour, so the Catfe prices are great! It's $5 with a purchase otherwise, $8 for admission. I'm very happy that the cats are friendly and actually want to interact with you! If I lived in Vancouver, I would definitely adopt at least one or two cats or frequently visit. We have such a huge cat fan base in Hawaii, we are desperately in need of one. Came to see if there was a suitable cat for adoption. Obviously overpriced for what it is (just playing with cats) but it probably goes towards the cats and maintaining the facility so that's fair. My first visit to a cat cafe. I am a huge cat and dog fan plus I am a huge rescue supporter. This place it is recommended to reserve your time online to go. It is $8 entrance fee or $5 with a purchase. Making online reservations are really easy and I definitely recommend it. This location is really cool because it is located in the International Mall right in Chinatown on the second floor. They have a few sweet kitty related treats plus a drink selection (non-alcoholic). When I came in I was hoping for a huge room filled with kitties. It was a spacious room but not filled with kitties. There were a few wandering a around or sleeping. Not bad and very different from what I expected. All of their cats come from the SPCA, a rescue and are adoptable. Every Thursday they get new cats. On the wall is are pictures and bios of each kitty. I am totally supportive of this idea. It gives you a chance to get to know a cat before committing to them. I love the idea and each entry gets you an hour play time. But I will put it out here, don't expect to play with cats for an hour. Most of them might not pay too much attention to you. Think of this place more as a place to go, sit down, play some board games, talk with some friends, chill with the option of the occasional to play with. This place is awesome! It's a pretty, hip cafe with adorable treats and cat themed goodies. All of the cats are up for adoption with the SPCA and because they control how many people are there through reservations, you are guaranteed some one on one time with cute kitties. People who rated this place low did so because they a) didn't realize you should make a reservation or b) thought this was some sort of cat circus situation where the cats should entertain you. They're cats so they're going to sleep over half the day, that's just what they do. If you want to see animals do tricks for your amusement, this is not the place for you. Cute, but small cat cafe in International Village Mall. We stopped in hoping to get to play with the cats, only to find out they were booked for the entire day. We got a cup of coffee and waited on the non cat side for a cancellation. Unfortunately after an hour of waiting, that did not happen. We did get to see the cats through the windows and we had a really good coffee and cat macaroon for the pastry bar. This is the cutest and most fun cat cafe I've ever been to. When you walk in, you can first purchase coffee, tea, pastries, and in our case, the admission ticket. We were visiting from out of town and decided last minute to stop by around 6pm so we hadn't had reservations from online. That being said, it wasn't an issue at all and they accommodated us very well. After purchasing a few macaroons, we made our way and joined the rest of the customers and the CATS! Each one was so sweet and playful in their own way. However, because it was the end of the day I believe most of them were just tired because some did not want to be pet or played with, which is totally fine. I really like this place compared to other cat cafés I've been to. Other establishments seem to often be completely packed with loud people and provide little room for the cats to be free and cozy, but the Catfé is different: cats come first here. There are strict rules about handling them and nice places for the cats to escape to if they're tired. The adoption angle is also really important, and the success they've had is heartening - the animals aren't here for our entertainment above all else, and as a cat lover I appreciate that. The entry cost coverage is a little high, sure, but I think that helps manage the quality of the environment, and I appreciate the extra expenses required to care for animals. The food and drinks are actually pretty good too - today I had a nice lavender mocha with a subtly novel flavour, and my sister had a good London fog and a nice little cheese scone. So all in all, a cute and novel way to engage with the animal adoption process, run by people who clearly care about the animals above all else. I like it, and I'm always glad to go. read more

This was a few months back. I went to the Catfe to visit the cats, but did not buy any of the items sold at the cafe. I love a lot of animals and cats are no exception. I went down there for $10 to spend an hour with cats. That was pretty dope, since I don't own any pets. I went in during the late afternoon so a few cats were sleeping, but several were active and running around the place. I should add that there are rules while visiting the cats. They should be followed to create a pleasant and fun environment for both the cats and other guests. These rules are explained prior to entry. My friends and I stumbled upon this place after seeing a movie at the theater one sunday afternoon. It's a curious location because most of the mall feels pretty abandoned however with floor to ceiling windows the space is perfect for a cat cafe. The price is very reasonable, only $8 for admission or $5 + a drink. I tried the lavender mocha which was good but definitely a strong flavor. We went in the evening, around 4pm and as noted on the sign, most of the cats were taking their afternoon naps. For me, it was worth it and if you go to a cat cafe you have to understand that you are paying to be in the presence of the cats, NOT to be able to necessarily play with or pet them. Cats are very temperamental creatures and so what bothers me are people who come to cat cafes and feel entitled to be able to grab the cats just because they paid money. This Catfe does a very good job of being non exploitative, offering the cats the ability to go to a private room if they aren't in the mood and with lots of good signage as well as an emphasis on adoption. I appreciate what they are doing to make sure that the cats are taken care of and prioritized. As such, i highly recommend this place if you are a cat lover! It's very roomy and well organized, plus there are a ton of different cats and even when most are sleeping there are still one or two who want to play or be pet. However, definitely go in with the expectation that you are paying to be able to take photos and be around a bunch of cats, not necessarily touch them. read more

Stumbled upon this cute cat cafe during a visit to Vancouver. My two friends and I were very appreciative to the ladies here for being able to get us in as walk-ins at 1pm on a Sunday. I really wanted to love this place with it's cute name, cute cats, and cute food. However, the food was only okay, the cats were sleeping the entire time (save for the last 10 minutes of our visit), and everything ranged from just a tad overpriced to very marked up. I got an americano and the earl grey meow-caroon, both of which were good but did not stand out as great. I hate giving one star to a cat cafe but it looks like my experience isn't even unique here. First, it's embedded inside a dying, almost entirely closed mall surrounded by homeless people and drug addicts. That wouldn't have stopped me, except the clerks who run the place are incompetent, inconsistent blathering idiots. I got here in the middle of a weekday after walking 30 minutes in the rain. The clerk told me I couldn't go in because they were full up for hours until the evening. I asked her if she could make an exception because I was from out of the country, had walked quite a distance to get here, there was no one in the cat area and I was only in town for another full day and it would be difficult to come back. She still adamantly said no, even though NO ONE was in the cat area (she said it was "nap time" but the cats were all running around chasing each other). Which... okay. I get that. You arrive somewhere, it's fully booked, you can't go in, those are the rules. I would have tried to make it back another time, maybe, with no hard feelings. Except, some lady WITHOUT a reservation walked in two minutes after the clerk told me I absolutely couldn't go in, and a different clerk IMMEDIATELY LET HER IN. So I told him that I had gotten there first without a reservation and the other clerk refused to let me in, and he just stood there bumbling and not knowing what to do or say, but neither clerk refused to make it right. Stop treating your customers differently, it's infuriating and a good way to permanently lose business. So I take one last look into the cat area and the cats have nowhere soft to sit and sleep. It looks like a post office inside with hard wood shelves and concrete. A few kittens are piled on top of each other in the only bed visible. The other cats are playing with each other on the hard floor while giant dust furballs are flying up into the air because no one is back there sweeping, they're too busy in the front denying people entry. After hearing about a cat cafe in Vancouver I knew I had to go check it out. It was one of those spur of the moment decisions to go visit while wandering downtown one evening. Lucky for us they had room to squeeze us in. It was $5 entrance fee with a purchase of a drink from the cafe. My first time at Cat Café and I'm now a fan. I was a little worried, as there are a lot of negative reviews, so I was hoping that you would be able to get enough pets to make it worth the money. I was pleasantly surprised to find that when we visited at 1pm on a Sunday the cats were very friendly and the people to cats ratio was good (about 10-12 people for about 8-10 cats). I definitely recommend making a reservation on their website in order to ensure you don't have to wait for drop-in, as they clearly get pretty busy. The reservation system was super easy and they sent me email reminders the week in advance. They have the rule that you're not allowed to bother the ones that are sleeping, which I think is fair, so it might be a different experience if you show up later in the day and the kitties are tired. I think going earlier in the day might ensure a better visit. Also it's totally random who is in your time slot with you and this will affect the type of visit you have-we got lucky as there was only 1 kid and he was well behaved and the other people were very quiet and respectful. I felt the pricing was really very reasonable when you consider they are in downtown Vancouver, it's only $5 if you just want to visit the cats but you can also purchase drinks and food (with a bottle of water and entry it was only $8). I did not get food so I can't comment on that, but from what I could see they had some really nice treats. They also have a very cool store where you can buy all sorts of cute cat stuff like jewellery, purses, jams, and other misc stuff on both sides of the café. When you arrive and check-in for your 1 hour reservation you're asked to wait in store side until you're group is called. On the hour the groups trade out, so someone comes and get's your group and brings them over to the cat café side. Here you're given an orientation of about 10 mins of the rules of the cafe and how to interact with the cats (ie no picking them up, don't bother those that are asleep, no running or chasing the cats, photos without flash is ok, etc), all of which I think is really useful for visitors, and you're also asked to sign in and wash your hands. Once all of this is done you are free to roam about the café and interact with whatever kitties are around. The café area is very nicely decorated and spacious with some tables and chairs so you can spread out. The cats are all up for adoption so they have a wall where you can read each of their bios as well as a wall of pics near the entrance of past kitties that have found a home. My sister and I had a delightful time meeting the kitties at the Catfe today. I can't say enough about the kindness of the staff. They were welcoming of us, clear about the rules and watched over everyone to ensure the cats and humans were behaving themselves. The cats were lovely, playful and cuddly. When they were tired or not interested in anymore attention they turned their backs, curled up and closed their eyes. The group of humans who shared our reservation time were considerate of each others space. We ordered a latte and a chai latte - both were delicious. read more

Overall - came here for bunny day and boy was it great. Lovely time engaging with the bunnies and staff. Upon admission, they give you a cup of veggies to feed the bunnies. The roam the area and the bunnies often just come right to you. Not sure how many people actually pet the animal, but the bunnies seem pretty happy. These were up for adoption and the staff were happily cleaning up after the bunnies and engaged with us, offering pillows and encouraged us to engage with different. Bunnies. Loved the experience.
