a plate of grilled sandwiches and a bowl of soup

Cute little cafe in North Vancouver that's simple and cozy. The cafe is pretty tucked in a small little complex in the area and most wouldn't notice it unless they are purposely looking for the cafe. They offer a nice variety of drinks, pastries and sandwiches. In my visit I had the turkey cranberry sandwich and lavender latte and was nicely satisfied with both. They have a lovely outdoor seating area as well with a few small tables that is great for the warmer weathers. Cute spot to swing by for a calming space to enjoy a bite when you are in the area.

    Cupcakes with beautiful icing.

They now have a monthly open house with live music and special event liquor license. I'm sad they have shortened their hours for the winter, closing at 3:00. lovely people, can't beat their soups.

    So charming!

I'll keep it simple... very good food and deserts, friendly staff, nice 'Cafe' atmosphere and decent prices.

I had a lovely time at le petit café! My barista was a cheerful short haired blonde, I recommended her service! Would come again.

I also got an Americano ($4.50), which tasted alright. Having a tangier fruit like strawberry provided a nice contrast to the sweetness of the French toast. However, I found the pistachio sauce to be quite weak and milky, so I'd suggest making it more pistachio-forward. This is especially noticeable since they use milk bread rather than a richer option like brioche, which left the overall dish lacking the flavour punch I was hoping for. That said, I found their food and drink options more unique compared to a standard brunch menu, so I'd be interested in returning with a bigger group to try more items. Their Thai chocolate and pistachio latte sound especially interesting!

Its a very small spot, worth the wait if there is one (holds about 25ppl max). The vibe is japanese/asian/french type of food in our opinion. Everything we ordered was great, stuffed meatballs, truffle omelet, grilled cheese sloppy Joe, bone marrow omelet and 2 drinks total of about $140 without tip. We drove 30 minutes to get here and was worth it. Not familiar with the area we parked in a garage near the building which was $5/hour (made for the restaurant above). So find street paid parking.

The mini cafe is too small to accommodate much seating, so it's a locally roasted alternative (to the larger chains like Starbucks) for those who don't mind a quick pit stop en route to or from The Shipyards district. It's located conveniently off of Lonsdale and has a vintage feel - far from flashy. They proudly serve Bean Around The World locally roasted world coffees.

Grandma was the one who saw the sign and thought it might be a nice place to try sometime.  Newsflash: The "Gooey Cinnamon Rolls" at West of Java come from Grounds for Coffee! Didn't know this when I stepped into the shop. It was while we were sitting down, enjoying our food and drink that I looked out the window and noticed the Grounds for Coffee logo printed on the "Gooey Cinnamon Rolls" sign that's hanging outside the shop. It's small and easy to miss, but it's unmistakably the Grounds for Coffee logo. I was over the moon when I realized that I no longer have to drive all the way to Commercial Drive or Alma St. to get those Cinnamon Rolls. Now I can get them anytime we go to visit Grandma!  Aside from my excitement about the Cinnamon Roll discovery, our drinks at West of Java were pretty nifty as well. We had Mocha, Chai Latte and a Matcha Latte.  I was also elated to discover that they allow people to bring in their own reusable cups and that you can get a discount for doing so! Service: Good Parking: Free parking on the street (If you're lucky enough to nab a spot!) Location: 105 1st St. East, North Vancouver
