We were greeted warmly and opted to sit outside since they have heaters and an enclosed patio, making it a cozy spot for people-watching. I ordered the Dulce Muerte, and my husband had the Summer Solstice--we also shared the Baked Taters for a little something to nibble on. Wasn't sure what a strudel bar was. Only 1 way to find out. Parking here is pretty awful. Best to get here on foot. The venue consists of 2 outdoor patio areas, and a small indoor area by the bar counter. Staff here really weren't that attentive. Not sure if it was because it was a slow day, but they really dropped the ball on this one. Knock 1 star off. There was no staff presence. Buddy and I saw some groups of potential customers walk in, look around, realize the staff were absent, then walk out. Also saw some groups on the outside do the same thing. We had trouble ordering as well for the same reason. The good news is that beer specials are pretty good. Strudel quality is decent too. They do have some cards and other tabletop games, which is great for socializing. Wouldn't mind coming back, though it wouldn't be my 1st choice if I was in the vicinity. read more

A really great Strudel spot closed up just a couple years ago in Chinatown & I cried non-stop! I had passed by Honey Brew Strudel Bar, a few times but never made time to pop in until recently. So glad I did! I really dig the coolness & colour decor of this spot! I've tried a variety of Strudels (baked pastry usually wrapped around fruit) over the years, but find my go-to, to be the Apple Strudel warmed up & always with whip & vanilla ice-cream! Rest my beating heart! If you're unfamiliar with Strudel, I recommend you try all available flavours over time, to find your hearts content! Strudel to me is more of an after main meal dessert, but I have had it for breakfast on occasion. You can remix your Strudel (depending on options availability) & go nuts, by adding Maple Syrup or Nutella as well as jams. If you are wanting to experiment with Strudel, probably best to get it to go, take it home & go crazy! Things can get messy but it's a good mess! Strudel makes my day every time I have it! read more

Honeybrew is situated on Davie St at the corner of Howe St. It was fully renovated and opened during COVID which is quite an undertaking by the owner Scott B. There is indoor seating and also a large wrap around patio which should be very popular in the warmer months. Honeybrew is a coffee and strudel bar during the day and then a full service bar with several food options in the evening. The baked food options looked great but I did not get a chance to sample them this time around. They do have a Happy Hour from 4-6 each day with drink and food specials. I met with the owner and he explained his vision and the concept of the strudel bar. There is nothing quite like this in the area and I think it will do well, especially with the large outdoor patio in the afternoons and evenings. It was a positive experience and I am happy to recommend Honeybrew if in the area. read more

I really like the service and the food. This bar is very clean, modern and innovative. They serve both food and drinks (hot beverages and alcohol). The place is cute and has nice pastries. I would say that the leek and parmesan bistro is my favorite so far. They also have a really creative spin on coffee. Try their apple strudel latte. It is like drinking coffee with some apple pie flavors. I was told that they also have a happy hour from 4 to 6 pm. Great place to sit and have food or drinks. Finally a fun hip groovy location that sells something other then donuts and cookies. I absolutely love their concept of cool lounge cafe by day and groovy hangout cocktail spot by evening. The interior has a modern groovy vibe look with a warm welcoming feeling and an amazing outdoor patio (COVID friendly lounge). When the sun goes down the inside transforms into a 70s psychedelic vibe with neon lights. Very chill and cool place to unwind with family or friends. When I visited I got to experience both during the day and at night. The baristas and bartenders were friendly and attentive, which is hard to find these days. My first visit I tried the apple and blueberry strudels and let me tell you the apple one was by far the best. The price is expensive at $6 a strudel, and I did notice that they are different sizes; some small then others. They also require a vaccine passport if you are to stay, but not if you grab and go. read more

Interesting place downtown that's a mix between a cafe/bar. It's a fun place to visit but I'm honestly a little bit confused by their design and I'm not sure what the correct time to visit is... nevertheless, they have a nice selection of strudels (as you'd expect) with many drink options and other pastries. The strudels are really good heated up. Super flakey and delicious. Also really recommend the apple strudel latte. I didn't expect much and thought it would be overwhelmingly sweet but I was very pleasantly surprised by the taste and it wasn't sugary at all. The missus and I have seldom strayed far from the comfort of Burnaby in the recent months after settling here, so the allure of strudels (something that we've missed devouring since last year when we used to hog on the guava strudels of 85°C in California *droolll*) was the perfect excuse to drive to Vancouver. It was easy enough to find street parking a short distance away from the place, so that took care of one major worry of mine whenever heading to Downtown! True to its name, Honeybrew Strudel Bar is a neat little bar that offers a good selection of yummy strudels along with drinks. We received friendly service from Brandon and Tanya who patiently answered our questions and helped us decide what to order with their recommendations. Tempted by the different options on display, we ended up purchasing some more strudels to please the sweet teeth! We opted for the Strawberry Cheesecake Strudel which was just perfect - flaky, creamy and delicious! We also got the Peach Strudel and the Apple Strudel which we've preserved for brunch on Sunday (if these survive our midnight snacking during the ongoing Australian Open tennis matches, that is!). The Chai Latte was yumm but slightly on the sweeter side - just a reminder that you can request for the sweetness level to be toned down. Highly recommend this place, be it for a quick bite during the day time (they even offer savory quiche and Bistro options!) or for a drink and dessert combo (unusual yet cool!) in the evenings. read more

I love coming to Honeybrew. From the delicious strudels to cocktails and mocktails, it's always a great time. The atmosphere is always so inviting and the staff are super friendly! I've gone to a Jenga night on Tuesday they had AND they have open mic Sunday AND sometimes even live music. Even in the winter the patio is nice and warm and cozy. Very confusing to me what this place is trying to be,.. a bar? A desert place? It felt like a 90s club with overpriced strudels. $8 for a very, very small strudel. Was it tasty? Yes, not bad,.. almost as good as the ones you can get other places where you can hear yourself for $4. The people were friendly,.. really attentive,.. but it completely had the vibe of a slick club, not Cactus Club,.. Luvafair. One thing I really like however is how they setup the property to make a great space outdoors on a previously sort of dead corner. Great design,.. Very cool funky vibes! They open from 8am to 12am, from a strudel and coffee place during the day to converting into a happy hour/ appy/ bar at night! I use to work there I also left a Google view because as a customer I want other customers to know what they are spending their hard earn cash on. I won't go into details here. But long story short I did not feel remotely comfortable while I was employed their. The owner has very high expectations. He also told everyone within a ear shot on how much he was paying me. Here's that back story on that. The owner came in and basically belittle me. His expectations where high. So I had to explain to him on what I did. I had to deep clean the fridge and freezer and reorganize everything. It wasn't food safe otherwise. So to each their own if you want to check honeybrew out. read more

My husband brought home some Honeybrew strudels for me the other day and YUM! We had a nice selection of strudels - Apple, Cheesecake, Peach, Blueberry and Rhubarb. The cheesecake was a favourite for both of us, and the peach was a close second. Both strudels had a nice balance of flavour and texture that made it really enjoyable to eat. I can't wait to go into the cafe and try the strudels when they are fresh. read more

Honeybrew Bar was awesome. Very friendly staff. Can do take-out with the pastries in the window or sit-down on their patio with beautiful, comfy lounge areas surrounding fires closed by glass walls. Gorgeous!! They have appetizers, flatbreads, and drinks on the menu too. My family of 5 ordered the Apple strudel, blueberry strudel, and oatmeal cookie to share. DELISH!! Highly recommend. I wanted to like this place but ended up leaving annoyed. I ordered a large iced oat milk latte. After I paid, the women told me they only have small cups because the cafe just opened and asked if that was okay. She proceeded to make the coffee with almond milk. When I told her that I paid for a large she just stared at me and then decided to offer a partial refund. She gave me the refund in coins instead of money returned to my debit card. I also asked what was in the cookies because nothing was labelled. She didn't know. It was basically a stale oatmeal cookie. Nothing special here and they didn't seem ready to be open. read more

The thickness of the phyllo pastry was okay but it did not need that much icing sugar on the top to make it sweet while the filling was not sweet at all.
