Haven't eaten here in a few years. Went back to see how it is. ( be aware they don't take credit cards). Tried several things: shrimp was good, scallops- good, hush puppies are good but you get very few! Slaw was good but was a sadly small amount - a little more than a tablespoon in the dish. Deviled crab - good, flounder hit and miss... meaty part tasted good- lots of fried " nothing". Perch was small and dry. Oysters were pitiful. Whole catfish was not edible- tasted like the bottom of the river. No tartar on the table anymore- you ask for it and get a tiny little container. I know times are hard... almost no place has been able to maintain quality. Prices are high- but they do still have senior plates - that's good. Service was friendly. Not many people eating there. At first I felt a little uneasy, but once my party and I sat down we were warmly greeted by our waitress. The menu was to the point seafood, nothing fancy and that's not necessarily a bad thing. You get way more food than what you pay for, portion wise. I dare you to go home without a doggy bag! The food is grade A good! I would definitely go back to eat there again. read more

Can I give them 0 stars came here for dinner right at opening time on Thursday and the place was ice cold. So I kept my jacket on and most people had their coats in too I ordered the special combination #1 while waiting for my meal I ate from the salad bar. It was very bare minimum ingredients so I just ate eggs cheese crouton and ranch dresses. Our waitress very ohhhhhh sonsweet :) the hushpuppies with the cold tartar sauce and cocktail sauce was soooo yummy..... so why 1 star. My main course food was utterly disgusting. I took a bit of the fried shrimp , fried fish and stuff crab and immediately ask for a box. It was either bix it up or throw it up. Wow what a waste of money. The shrimp was swimming in oil on my plate and tasted like old double fried shrimp. The fish was hard rubbery and NOOOOOO flavor so salt no better no batter flavor nothing absolutely tasteless. It actually tasted like Cardboard. The stuff crab tasted like stuffing with motor oil. Just Gross! anyways went to po ay and the counter they do not take credit cards only cash checks and debit cards. I wont be back. They have sundsy buffet. Good for any southern person who loves deep fried dry chicken and potato water(mashed potatoes so watery that it's like a soup) the last time I ate food like this it was the high school lunch menu. The coconut pie was ok and the sweet tea was just brown water. Thank you catfish cove for officially making me hate southern food. read more

The locals all have highly recommended this restaurant. It was definitely busy on a Saturday night, but we weren't fans. Due to food allergies, none of us can have breaded or deep fried food. Breaded and deep fried seem to be their speciality. We got the salmon and flounder. The salmon was a huge portion, but was gray in color. It tasted better than it looked. The flounder was ok, but not amazing. We also ate from the salad bar and it was pretty standard as far as salad bars go. The waitress was very friendly and gave us good recommendations when we told her our food allergy situation. But, it wasn't great food and I don't think we will be back. read more

Very simple restaurant nothing fancy. Food was excellent except tarter sauce was not to tasty. Prices were good. Take cash, check, or debit they charge an extra $1 for credit. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! ZERO STARS! APPALLING! HORRIBLE! Will NEVER RETURN!!! We have been coming to catfish Cove for 12 years. The food has always been pretty good. Unfortunately we just experienced just about the WORST customer service from the manager that we have ever experienced in our lives. My husband made a 45 minute round-trip to get the food. When he got to the register he requested 2 cocktail sauces be added to our order. The lady at the register relayed the information to another employee stating that we wanted "2 cocktail sauces." When my husband made it home we discovered they had given us 2 tartar sauces, which we don't eat. We called the restaurant & the manager obviously did not care one bit & would only say that "The cashier wrote down 2 tartar sauces" on the ticket. She repeatedly stated this! I tried to explain to her that that was not what we requested & that the employee even repeated that we wanted the "2 cocktail sauces." The owner made it abundantly clear she did not give a damn, never apologized NOT ONE TIME. Not even when I explained to her how egregious it was that she had not apologized!. There was just silence on the other end of the phone. She absolutely refused to Even say "I'm sorry this happened" one time. I have NEVER had such a rude & unbelievable customer service experience as this. We run a business as well & we give top-notch customer service. The customer is always right in our business, even if they are wrong. Good will is a priority! This woman suggested we make another 45 minute round-trip to get a refund on the tartar sauce! Then she acted like it was going to take an act of God to just refund it without us returning. We told her just forget it and keep our tartar sauce money. (Can you believe a restaurant charges for something that all other restaurants just provide with your meal?) Look through the reviews & you will see we are not the only ones who have experienced the incredible rudeness of this woman. We will never return to this place after that experience. Obviously THIS MANAGER DOES NOT GIVE a DAMN about the customers at all! All they care about is making money. Make no mistake about it...Catfish Cove is a total grease pit. But it's GOOD grease. It's a no frills fish camp setting near the river. The service has always been good when I've been there but the real standout is the Sunday buffet. Don't be discouraged by the long long line out the door...they really move people in and out. There's usually fried chicken, mashed potatoes, steak and gravy, meatloaf and a bunch of pretty decent vegetables to choose from. The real standout is the fried squash. Even if you don't like squash, give it a try; it's wafer thin and fried super crispy...like Lay's chips, I betcha can't eat just one. Dessert and a drink is included....the Tums/Rolaids you'll need afterwards is not. =) read more

Just down the street from our house but we only go there once a year. Last night I realized why. We have two kids and they are too old for the kids menu, yet can't eat an adults meal. There is nothing for them on the menu under $9.00. I find it difficult to pay $9.00 for a kids entree. The food was greasy and the salad bowls were tiny at the salad bar. Once you put lettuce in there wasn't room for toppings or dressing. read more

If you're looking for good southern cooking this is the place to go. I always come here on Sunday's & their staff is pretty nice. We always enjoy coming here for the food but one thing I want to point out is the smoking that takes place right outside the door of the restaurant. You could literally smell it walking out of the lobby area & as we were leaving, there was a family with children walking past the smokers. Hopefully the owners & staff will see this & decide to make some changes & decide to find a more appropriate place to put the smokers area or at least put a sign on the building to not smoke so close to the door. read more

Great traditional fish camp with good seafood and huge portions. Our favorite fish camp. The Sunday buffet is awesome but don't come late.

I have been eating here for years and the food is always amazing! The price is a little high but you get enough food for seriously, no joke...2 meals! They have the best fried scallops and salt and pepper cat fish I have ever had. The tartar sauce is wonderful. The coleslaw is great. My kids love to get the all you can eat crab legs and the fried green shrimp. I love the salad bar as well. When we need to go out and have a special celebration dinner for any reason...this is the place we all want to go! read more

First off they don't accept debit or credit cards. Luckily there is an atm near the register. Went for the Sunday buffet and it was "grab and growl." Layout is poor and everyone is bunched up waiting to get food. Tables are white textured folding plastic tables. Chairs on the flimsy side. Food was acceptable. Kind of odd to have a placed called Catfish Cove and not offer any seafood at all on the buffet. Had meatloaf, fried chicken and chicken in a cream type sauce. The broccoli casserole was good and the mac and cheese was close to what grandma makes but not exactly. Nothing fancy at all. If you want to impress someone stay away.
