In the area visiting family and decided to try Yummy Crab for a late lunch. Not very busy so we were seated right away. Our server brought drinks and we perused the menu. The place was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. My wife was in the mood for crab so she chose the Boiled Snow Crab Legs. I was more in the mood for oysters so I went for the Fried Oyster Plate. Her lunch came first in a boil bang with a crab leg cluster, potatoes and an egg. She loved the crab! It was seasoned perfectly. The potatoes were great. The egg was not really we cared for, but just our taste. My oysters came sizzling hot, crisp outside and juicy inside. They were excellent. Instead of fries I upgraded to onion rings. The rings were also hot but just a bit too much breading for my taste. Altogether a very nice meal, great service and a pleasant atmosphere. read more

It took them fairly long to seat us. We were waiting 1 hr and 45 mins for our food to come out. The waiters ignored us numerous times. At times acted like they didn't hear us. The food is good! But it's a hit or miss! They don't offer a lot of Juice seasoning in their boil bags and then charge $1.75 for a small container of extra. I will say the food was good for the price. The sauce is different from what I've had before and I really liked it. Service tho? Basically non existent. Not once did our waitress check on us after we were given the food. We tried calling out to her to let her know our food was missing sausage and that we needed refills but we were ignored. She checked on every table besides ours. We asked for the check and she never came back so we went to the counter to pay. I came here for the first time last year with a big group for my birthday, yes you have to wait for everyone to get here to be seated. It's okay just wait. It was great the first time and they accommodated a large party and were very nice. Today is the second time I've come here my gf brought me. We both got drinks and boils both of which were amazing. The flavor in the boils are AMAZING we both got garlic butter with the hot flavor. I got so much food. The dungeness crab was so good. Mika and Bri greeted us when we came in. I don't like crab so I won't review the crab but my flounder basket looked good and the fries were good but the flounder was TASTELESS (fried mush) and one piece still had the skin on it when the other 3 did not and waiter tried to say they all come like that... the ceiling was missing multiple ceiling tiles and insulation and duct were hanging down out of the holes. They keep the bathroom lights off and it is pitch black in there so you can't even see the switch on the wall and have to feel the wall to find the switch. And the best part is their AC... which is 2 buckets of ice with a fan.... Today was opening day and I popped in for a carry-out order. Yummy Crab is YUMMY! Great portions, more than reasonable prices. I got food for three from the lunch take out menu and it was less than $40. These folks are also MASTERS at the social distancing. They've got their takeout setup such that you keep a safe distance and there is minimal interaction with anyone inside. That being said, I can't wait to be able to eat inside. The restaurant space looks awesome. My wife had the snow crab lunch combo and enjoyed everything except the corn which was overcooked. Mother in law had the fried shrimp and French fries, which she just raved about. I had a fried shrimp and catfish combo with fries which was amazing. It all travelled very well thanks for expert packaging (hooray for vent holes!). The only issues were typical first day stuff. Phone number busy or not accepting calls, online ordering not working, but I just went in and placed the order which was ready to go within 10 minutes. I will totally be back soon. It was bagged with a very flavorful butter/garlic/cajun broth, and a couple small pieces of corn, and a couple potatoes, and a boiled egg (thought it was unusual, but it went very well with the broth). The lobster was extremely good, and the crab legs were also very good. The CSR who answered the phone was very pleasant & professional. She asked me to hang in there as it was her 1st day. That was okay because I wanted someone that was going to take their time & get my order correct vs. rushing & getting it wrong. While it may take extra minutes for accuracy, it will take double that to fix errors! They confirmed my order with accuracy & told me to make my way; my food would be ready when I arrived. I was shocked @ the quick service since they didn't know where I was coming from; I quickly said, "I hope HOT & ready!? I was greeted by the CSR who took my order & the front end manager (I didn't catch her name; but she too was very pleasant). My order was ready just like they said. The manager went over my order, & made sure I had all the condiments I needed. FAMILY ORDER - PRICING, QUALITY & TASTE: The lunch Snow Crab Leg Boil: 1 cluster (1/2lb), 1 corn, 2 potatoes and 1 egg - $13.00 *It was an okay price for what you would get; however it would have been WORTH it had one of my crab legs not been missing and if the other remaining legs were meaty! The crab legs seemed as if they were cooked to long, set aside and then heated back up. Meaning, when I cracked opened the legs, the meat did not slide out (I'm a professional when it comes to crabs; I know what I'm doing) :-) The meat was stuck to the insides of the legs and in certain spots the crab meat was lukewarm. Now I know you are probably thinking that maybe it cooled down in transit. While that can definitely happen, that was not the case. The crabs were in the plastic bag with the sauce. The sauce, egg and potatoes were steaming hot as if it just came out, not as if it cooled off on the 12 minute ride back home. The crab tasted as if it was just boiled in water; just plain. It had a supermarket frozen type taste instead of a fresh seafood market place that you expect to get when eating seafood. BUT.....But, but, but.... When you dip the meat in the sauce, you do get GOOD flavor. Very light, delicate, nothing overpowering; very well balanced flavor. The flavor I had was "All Mixed" and the spicy level was "Mild". The flavor made the crab shine a little bit then what it was. The potato was tender, not mushy and the egg tasted like it was boiled, peeled and then set in water until ready to be reheated; rubby tasting. Not to bad of a taste, just not really fresh. Like if you boiled and peeled it in the morning but it sat in water all day until you got home later and reboiled it to heat it up. Corn was on point, nice sweet and tender. Fried Flounder Basket (4pcs) w/ Fries: $12 (this item Is not offered on the lunch menu).The fries were on point and delicious but the flounder.... big FAIL!!!! The flounder was not fresh, you can tell it was supermarket frozen fish and not fresh frozen fish. You know when supermarket's freeze seafood and other meats, it's frozen differently in order to preserve the meat. Not really a bad thing but kind of disappointing when you are looking for seafood level freshness. Also the containers that they placed the fish & fries in is nice BUT it sweats on the inside making your fried food soggy. The fish batter was wet which also affected the taste of the seasoned batter; it made it bland on top of the fish itself not being seasoned. Chicken Wings (6pcs) Fried/Lemon Pepper - $6 - I'm a flats girl :-) My order was all drums. I was looking for a mixture of both but nope.... :-) The flavor was okay because again the container sweat had the chicken a little wet, the lemon pepper seasoning overpowered the blandness. It was good overall. Combo Fried Basket C - $13 Again, the sweat container made food wet and taste bland. My excitement level is not where it was after tasting the food. We went there for lunch at 1230 on Saturday, parking was empty and so was the restaurant, should have known it wasnt going to be great. The music they had on was loud dance music, fine if you are in a club, not when you are trying to enjoy lunch. My wife asked what kind of clamswere being served, waitress had no clue, so she went to check, 5 mins later, no waitress, so we left. This spot has some good customer service! I ordered pick up online and the total came out to around $40. When I came to pick up, the lady at the counter told me to call in rather than order online next time to save about $10. Super sweet of her to let me know how I can save money at their restaurant! Horrible service and horrible taste. First of all we got cheese sticks as a appetizer. They came out last. My seafood boil I ordered came out before my boyfriends meal. He had to wait a extra 20 minutes for his chicken wings to even come out. The cheese sticks tasted horrible as if it was like school lunch. The seafood boil was watered down and had a over seasoning of Cajun spice along with water. It wasn't a good taste. The only things we had that was good was the fries my boyfriend ordered. Not to mention their prices are pretty expensive but a seafood boil is normally expensive anyway. I have to say the manager did handle our situation well and gave us a discount off of our meal. Ive only eaten here twice, and both times have been great. I feel as if im getting enough food for the price and it is steaming hot when it comes out. Their garlic butter actually has fresh chopped garlic and is very flavorful. Also the ability to choose spice level should you want it is nice. The fried foods have a nice cragly texture and are generous with their serving size as well, even in lunch. My family and I love this place and hope it is will continue. I tried the shrimp without the coating and did not get the kind of metallic taste with it. Also when I tried to find out what was in the lunch basket, I was told to look it up online. Just got home no more than an hour ago from dining out at Yummy Crab of Gastonia and myself, my wife and my daughter and her boyfriend immensely enjoyed the seafood they have to offer there. It was our first time there and I have to say... I was very impressed at how the waitress greeted us and took us to our table as soon as we entered the restaurant. There were a few families there and they seemed to enjoy the atmosphere and their food too. The outside of the restaurant has plenty of parking spaces and looks to be very clean and well-kept. The inside of the restaurant has this coastal restaurant theme to it and the wooden walls was something that someone took the time to build and has this clean refreshing look to it, love the wooden grains on them! Very clean and the food was even better and seem to be freshly made and cooked to perfection. The calamari were to die for with two kinds of dipping sauces. The waitress was very attentive and nice and came around refilling our drinks and brought out our food within 15 minutes after taking our orders. The seafood boil was very buttery and had just the right amount of seasoning in it, freshly cooked and steamy hot. I've eaten a lot of seafood over the years and know what freshly made seafood should taste like... and this place pretty much has it down. Very impressed and love the atmosphere and food the most!
