Went in on Saturday, June 22nd, for a relaxing dinner with my husband -- I wanted something different from the usual, and let me just say... I'm so glad we chose this place! There was no wait when we arrived, and we were immediately greeted by the sweetest hostess, Camila . Her warm smile and kind energy honestly set the tone for the night. Never underestimate how much a genuinely nice welcome can uplift your mood! Our server, Sherry, was just as lovely -- super attentive and quick to take our drink orders . She brought out a basket of hush puppies and OMG -- I am absolutely in love. These were hands down the best hush puppies I've had in the area -- crispy outside, soft inside, and full of flavor. I could've eaten a whole tray! Once I asked for a drink recommendation, Sherry didn't hesitate to help. My husband noticed they had lobster tails on the menu, and you know I had to go for it. I ordered the lobster tail meal with a baked sweet potato on the side. My husband chose the Amberjack cheeseburger with a side of mac & cheese . While we waited for our entrées, I hit up the salad bar , which was fresh and well-kept. The veggies looked bright and crisp -- no wilted greens here! When our food came out, I was truly excited -- my lobster tail was beautifully plated with thoughtful garnishes, but the real magic started the second I took a bite . The flavor was chef's kiss -- perfectly seasoned, with just the right hint of lemon and a buttery finish. I didn't even have to reach for extra butter -- it was already that good. Later, when I spoke to the owner, I found out the secret was something called Jimmy's seasoning, and trust me, it works! My husband really enjoyed his burger -- cooked perfectly and full of flavor. He even let me try his mac & cheese, and let me tell you... creamy, cheesy, and straight-up comfort food heaven. My only minor critique: the antipasta salad from the salad bar wasn't quite up to par. The pasta was a bit overcooked and lacked the zesty vinaigrette flavor I usually look for. But hey, if that's the only thing I could point out, you know the rest of the experience was top-tier! Before we left, I asked Camila if I could speak with the owner, and she kindly introduced me to Corona (that's what the regulars call him). This man is clearly passionate about what he does. We chatted about the food, and I even mentioned how I regretted not coming in sooner -- this place had been sitting on my "Want to go" list for way too long! Corona was genuinely open to feedback, even apologizing for the salad bar issue and thanking me for pointing it out. His love for the restaurant shines through, and it makes a world of difference knowing that the owner personally cooks the lobster tails to ensure perfection. Went here for the Sunday Buffett and very much disappointed. The salad bar was decent. For the food itself, I don't know what some of it was. It was covered in sauce. First time trying this place. Went on a Saturday evening around 7:00pm & not busy at all (maybe that should've clued us in). We were sat immediately & the server came by for drink orders & given hush puppies. A bit later placed our meal orders. I was given a plate for the salad bar which was fresh (1 star given). Thank goodness for that! We literally sat there waiting for our food for 45 min until finally I told another waiter I wanted our bill & would not be waiting on our food any longer. I was beyond annoyed! Like I mentioned, not busy at all, so why such a wait? Our meals ordered were easy, nothing that would take long to cook even from scratch! Our waiter showed up, he apologized & went to check on our food & came back to us saying it was ready. We agreed to stay to eat because we were so hungry & by now it had already been over an hour of us sitting there. The food was decent. Shrimp & grits & shrimp tacos. Nothing that would have us wanting to go back for though. We ate & waited for about another 20 min. our server finally came back by & apologized & that the bill would be taken care of (thus 2nd star from me). At least, he recognized what had happened & was kind to make it right without us asking. Would we go back or recommend? Nope! This is a very clean and dependable family restaurant. Service is excellent at dinner. Nothing fancy but my wife really likes the salad bar. Always fresh with a variety of greens and typically a protein available. Free hush puppies when you sit down are also good. I like the chopped steak with mushrooms and gravy. The service was incredible - we had the pleasure of having Payne as our server. The food was pretty tasty. We stared off the meal with calamari, fried pickles, and fried jalapeños. This was after we drove about 30 minutes to arrive before the 4 pm advertised closing time. At 3:30 there was one to greet us. As we left I knocked on the office door and was simply given an apology for our "misfortune" with no offer to make amends. This place has more rules and limitations than a tax return. You walk up and a sign says "no curbside orders." You go to order food to go and there is a lengthy sign encouraging you to check your order before you leave because they will not fix it otherwise. They should check the orders themselves or check it with the customer. Instead they bag it up and give it to you and you have to unpack it all to check the orders. If you are paying with any type of card there is a surcharge. Then the go staff at times will ask "do you want to leave a tip?" Well no because I'm checking the orders themselves myself and paying a surcharge. Servers make under minimal wage and therefore depend on tips. Staff at registers don't depend on tips. They squeeze every penny and nickel out of you. Food is consistently good and at the prices it should be good. When choosing menu items you can't mix fried and broiled items on combinations for some reason. A piece of fried flounder cost the same as a piece of broiled flounder. Again strict rules. After being told "no" to what I want on a combination platter it's just not worth it. read more

I got pintos, there was no seasoning at all in them. Very bland. The greens were bland as well. No seasoning on them. I am not a big fan of salt. Rest of the week is order off of the menu which is generally a Surf and Turf type menu but Sunday is Buffet. He disappeared but i later flagged him down only to find that this was only a buffet and I need to go to the buffet and grab a plate. Obviously my first time here so my error. The buffet is divided into two lines. One is cold and mainly salads and it looked very good. I wanted Seafood so I went with the hot bar. I loaded up on fish, chicken, meatloaf, Swiss Steak, Shrimp, Beef Liver, Chicken Livers etc. Good thing I did not have my cholesterol checked the next day. This was our first experience at Amber Jack Restaurant and we were not impressed. As a buffet, we suspected it would be basic but it just wasn't our style of food at all--country cooking without flair. The roasted chicken was the best tasting meat option, the steak with gravy was a strange texture almost like ground beef pressed together, the boneless pork was like shoe leather and the fried fish was fishy and bland. We didn't eat salads but the salad section seemed to have a lot of variety if that's your thing. Sides were Mac-n-cheese, mashed potatoes, cooked cabbage etc. The waitress walked through the room with a tray offering a single dessert (cobbler) served in tiny individual plastic cups barely larger than a condiment cup. Although the food wasn't great, our experience could've been better if the waitress had been friendly. She literally seemed to be very unhappy about working--never smiled, very inattentive, returned to our table once. We had to ask another waitress for our check.
