This Catfish Station just opened recently. It is part of a Shell gas station. We went there for Sunday lunch at noon. As we entered the door, we noticed this strong odor. May have been coming from the Shell lobby. Don't know, but the odor dissapated. Now to the food and service. We both ordered the 3 piece catfish basket that came with fries and one hush puppy. The fries were some of the best I have had. The catfish was hot and very good. The two young women working the counter were very pleasant. The eating area is small as this is primarily a drive thru. The food was decent but the customer service was not good. The girl in the front was not friendly at all. Instead of asking to take our order she just walked up to the register and stared at us. I have to confess, I initially scoffed at this place because it's located in a gas station and it doesn't look like much. However, I decided to try it based on strong Yelp reviews, and I changed my mind. I ordered the fried shrimp po boy with fries. The shrimp was large and prepared very well, the bread was fresh, and the fries were good too. The service was friendly as well. Best gumbo on this side of town. Love the shrimp etouffee and the shrimp creole (it is spicy). The whole family enjoys the shrimp tacos and are happy they started having Taco Tuesdays. After receiving an e-mail from Yelp about this new restaurant and seeing the reviews, I thought I would check it out. I was very pleasantly surprised. Located in the old Hartz Chicken building next to the Shell station, it doesn't look like much. However, the looks are deceiving. I ordered Shrimp Etoufee with dirty rice, a crawfish pie and 3 piece chicken tenders. I also ordered as my side 5 hush puppies. Unfortunately, those weren't in my bag when I got home. While I was waiting for my order to be placed, the manager brought me out a sample of the Cheese Grits. They were DEELISH! I'd never had grits before and I will definitely go back for more. The etoufee was good, not as bland as Floyd's and way cheaper. The Crawfish Pie was also good. My roommate had the chicken tenders and enjoyed them as well. The sauces were meh. The remoulade had too much ketchup and the tarter had too much mayo. I will definitely return again though as I pretty much enjoyed my meal overall. read more

Tried this place for the first time and it is great. Got basic 3 piece catfish (fried), fries and hushpuppy. The fish is perfectly fried, just right amount of batter and totally non-greasy. Cooked to order, but worth the extra few minutes wait. Comes with choice of sauce, but not even necessary, I just used a few lemon drops. Fries were a pleasant surprise, with a wonderful seasoned batter and piping hot, some of the best I have ever had. Even the hushpuppy was great. I will come back and sample the grilled and blackened catfish, as well as some of the other side orders and maybe a dessert. read more

Fried catfish was excellent. Fish was fresh. No old fishy taste at all. It was deliciously crispy on the outside and yet delicately moist on the inside. Perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned. We tried it a second time and it was still consistent with the first time. Crew members were polite and responsive. Prices were very reasonable. Grilled chicken Alfredo was very good, too as was the dirty rice. This is now our go to place for fried fish. We will try the grilled fish next time. We hope the portion sizes stay the same. read more
