This is always the spot for my family and I whenever we're coming in from out of town! The crawfish is amazing and honestly all of the food is consistently so good. Came here on a Sunday with some friends craving some catfish! This was the first time I'd been to this location and it definitely won't be my last! Well lit upon entering, and was greeted immediately. We got there at the perfect time, as there soon started to be a wait after we were seated. We came just a few minutes before noon, and this place was packed! We were seated and were so excited for all the things. We ordered the sampler oysters, the calamari and the lemon pepper wings. I have never had wings at any of their locations, and let me just say....from now on I will!!! They were soooo good! Whatever that batter is that they use on it, it is so crispy and crunchy, and had just the right amount of seasoning! 11 out of 10!!!! The oysters always hit the spot, and the calamari was great as well, with the coating that was on there, so crispy and crunchy!!! On to the food, I ordered the combo 1, which comes with a 1lb of crawfish, 1/2 lb of shrimp, corn on the cob and a potato, and then I added a side of sausage! The line is always wild at Crawfish Cafe. I think I ordered a little wrong this time, so I'm definitely giving it another shot. We started with boudin balls, and the sauce was the highlight--kind of a mild honey-Dijon mustard vibe with mustard seed and a hint of horseradish and some aïoli. My wife also loved my fried rice, which was the base of my "smack pack" (not sure on the spelling). I also ordered the seafood gumbo, a side of sausage gumbo, and garlic noodles. My entrée was good--just not great or memorable. The seafood gumbo, though, was a mess: watery, almost no flavor, and I ended up salting it heavily (and I never salt anything). The sausage gumbo was much better--richer flavor and a thicker, more satisfying consistency. The garlic noodles were tasty, too...but nothing special. My wife got the #3 boil with potatoes, crab, and big, fat shrimp, and she was happy with it. They were sold out of bread pudding, which was a bummer. One thing I thought was unique: it's Vietnamese-inspired Cajun, so a lot of the seasonings and sauces have a Vietnamese twist. And the service was excellent--my server crushed it. Food-wise, I'd call it a 3 out of 5, but the service bumps it to a 4 out of 5. I had never heard of Crawfish Cafe a friend recommended it for our girls night. Make sure you join the waitlist ahead of time, especially if it's a weekend night. It was PACKED and walk-ins had a 2 hour wait time. One person in our group got the smoked boudin link and said it was really good. I do wish they could figure out how to put the spice of the "cold" dip sauce "into" the beignets! That would knock them over the top- The crispy chicken took me by surprise-I didn't realize they would have a batter. I would not get them again-but -batter on my wings just isn't my thing. This review is for the crawfish alone!! I've tried a couple of other items here that have been a hit or miss but on this visit I finally decided to give the crawfish a try and was overall pleased. I got a mix of lemon pepper and garlic butter with extra sauce and boil juice and they definitely gave me extra which I enjoyed. I got 1 pound all mild and I was so happy that they were not spicy. These crawfish were seasoned all the way through and not just on the outside. The lemon pepper and garlic butter flavor was really good together. I was worried that the sauce on the crawfish would be really sweet due to the viet-cajun style but it just had a very light sweetness in the sauce that wasn't overkill and balanced everything out. If you're a garlic lover you would love these crawfish. My only complaint is that my bag honestly felt lighter than a pound and there was a lot of tiny ones and then some nice sized ones. It's crawfish season so I expected larger sizes but maybe in the upcoming weeks. Speaking of other items, i've tried the crawfish bread which is absolutely delicious. I've tried the wings and was very disappointed because they had a decent flavor, it's just that each one was black from cooked blood inside which I did not like. Also it was too much of the batter on them. As for the loud pack, I had high hopes but the shrimp had no flavor and didn't taste like any gulf shrimp. The crawfish fried rice was okay, very sesame oil based. I wasn't a fan of the dipping sauce. The corn, sausage, potato and sausage all taste fine, you can't really go wrong with that. The sausage is an andouille sausage so it is spicy if you're sensitive. The last thing i've tried were the boudin balls and they are not your average Louisiana style boudin balls. They are sweet on the inside and very mushy. It tastes like asian style bbq pork puréed with rice, I would not recommend those. Overall, i'd recommend Crawfish Cafe, you just have to find what you like! read more

Had one of their appetizers when I was last here and had to come back during my lunch break to try an entree! I got their seasoned seafood bowl with rice instead of noodles. It came with an MP of crab legs, shrimp, taters and corn!!!! I don't know what kind of creol seasoning the used on the rice and shrimp but it was out of this world. The corn was covered in it too!!! Lunch date with mom was a success and I owe it to the folks at Crawfish Cafe!! The parking was fair and the location was ideal for those in the Cypress /Coles Crossing area of town. They have a great food selection and the service was excellent...we were served by Monse who was very attentive and helpful the whole time. Now the eats!! My mother ordered the Flounder and the yum yums and and thumbs up from her said it all. Everything was cooked fresh and was not cold upon being served. Crawfish Cafe is a hip, cool, and laid-back establishment serving up seafood favorites and great customer service in the greater 290 Cypress area. This is not a fancy restaurant or a quiet and serene dining establishment where famous French Chef Helene Darroze is creating a magical dish consisting of lobster with carrots, citrus, and tandoori spices. It is in fact, the exact opposite, which is not a bad thing at all. It merely depends on what type of atmosphere one is in the mood to experience. My husband, daughter, and I became acquainted with this business on a Saturday evening around 6:00 pm and the dining room was half full. Our host, Frankie, who also turned out to be our waiter for the evening was extremely hospitable, professional, and welcoming. So, five stars rating on the customer service. It was awesome! Next, the dining area was nice and clean and I did not see or feel any food crumbs underneath my feet because the floors were clean. The overall presentation and ambience of the restaurant was inviting and highly energetic with nice musical tunes spewing out of overhead speakers. The music noise level was moderate to slightly noisy which made one speak a tad bit loudly to be heard in conversations. So, with that being said, the presentation, ambience, and cleanliness is a four star rating. Moreover, we started the evening with two starters, crawfish egg rolls and crawfish mini empanadas. For our drinks, we had the frozen peach and watermelon margaritas which were very tasty but not enough on the liquor. So, 3 stars out of five on the margaritas. The crawfish egg rolls were delicious, so 4 stars out of five, and the crawfish empanadas were okay, a little on the salty side, so 3 out of five. Next, for our entrees, we ordered the boiled snow crab legs with corn, crawfish, and potatoes, the fried Catfish Po-boy with sweet potato fries, and a fried seafood platter consisting of oysters, shrimp, catfish, hush puppies, and fried rice. My husband said that the Catfish Po-boy was okay and could have been better with more fish. There was not enough fish to bread ratio which made the experience a little dry, so 3 out 5 for the Po-boy itself. However, he said that the sweet potato fries were the showstopper of his meal, so 5 out of 5 stars. I tasted one of them myself and they were absolutely delicious, fried to perfection, not too crispy and not too soft, and the sweet flavors were boasting with every bite. My daughter had the boiled crab dinner and she said that it was good, not the best she's ever had in her life, but good enough to enjoy, so 4 out of 5. I had a fried seafood platter with a side of fried rice and hush puppies. This entree was almost amazing, but it missed the margin by a slight few points. The shrimp were fried too dark for my liking and almost tasted like frozen shrimp from the frozen section of the grocery store, so 2.5 out of 5 stars. It could possibly be the type of batter that they're using on the shrimp that's not quite right. However, the fried fish, oysters, hush puppies, and fried rice were absolutely delicious and fried to perfection! The fish and oysters were lightly fried and flavorful but not salty, so 5 out of 5. The hush puppies were amazing, so 5 out of 5. Lastly, the fried rice was wonderful and full of distinctive flavors, so 5 out of 5. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and will most likely visit again in the near future. Customer service was great and service was fast, 5 out of 5 stars for the host/server, Frankie. He checked in on us several times during our stay making sure we were comfortable and satisfied. I recommend anyone who enjoys this type of cuisine to give them a try. It's not absolutely authentic creole food and doesn't possess the original creole/cajun flavors of true down-on-the-bayou Louisiana cuisine, but it's good enough to enjoy.
