Unfortunately I don't have a whole lot to say about this establishment. It was the first food stop we made in Texas.. In Louisiana I am a custom of going to gas stations and getting great food like homemade food but I quickly learned in Texas it's not the same. From the atmosphere inside of the gas station to the counter where the young man took my order my husband was ready to go immediately but we were hungry and I was like I'm here let's support the business so I did and about $70 later no one was happy with their meal but we weren't hungry and I supported the business so that's my review. The fries weren't hot. The wings were just that. The fish was just seasoned with salt pepper. I'm not sure what other reviewers were getting but mt husband ordered a link sandwich name was just a hamburger bun with two pieces of sausage fried on it no condiments mustard mayonnaise lettuce- I don't know nothing. read more

My sister and I were planning to meet for dinner. I found this place on Yelp so we decided to try it. The young guy taking the orders provided awesome customer service!!! He gets a 5 for his customer service!!! It was Wednesday and they have $1 wings on Wednesday. I ordered a 10 piece wings. 5 regular fried and 5 Honey Hot Lemon Pepper. My sister ordered 5 regular fried and a fish sandwich. We both agreed that the regular fried were literally just that. They were not seasoned at all!! So much so my sister was trying to give her remaining three to me but I didn't want them. I enjoyed my Honey Hot Lemon Pepper wings. I wish they had been a bit more wet!! My sister said her fish sandwich was good and she liked it I would get the flavored wings again. Also, I am willing to try other things. read more

I've had two meals now from this true "hole in the wall" restaurant and believe a 5 score is not only justified but required. It's located in a Citgo gas station/convenience store and has no exterior signage. Fellow Yelper Rick F. brought this place to my attention with his review and I say thank you! One important thing to remember is that it is a TO GO ONLY restaurant as there is no room to sit and eat your food which is the only negative from coming here. I hope you live nearby like I do. My first visit was for dinner and I chose their 2 piece fried fish meal with 2 sides for $12.50. From the sides available that day I chose cabbage and rice and gravy. The food took about 10-15 minutes to prepare and when I got home, I noticed that they gave me 3 pieces of fish instead. I loved every bite. Seriously, that fried fish was the best that I have had in a long time. Even after a 10 minute ride home the fish was still hot and had great flavor. Each fish fillet was large and 2 would have been plenty of fish but that 3rd piece just gave me the opportunity to enjoy it even more. Delicious is the correct adjective here to describe that fish (5). The cabbage and rice and homemade gravy were very good too (4). This meal is on their regular daily menu. I waited over a week to return so that I could sample additions that they offer on Friday and Saturday's only (i.e. soul food). On that particular day they were offering smothered pork chops with 2 sides for $12.50 so that's what I ordered. My side selections were corn and potato salad. This meal took about 20 minutes to prepare and was still hot when I got home. The 2 large pork chops were lathered in a succulent brown gravy that made me smile. This is what great soul food is suppose to taste like and is the best that I have had here in Houston. The chops rocked (5). The corn was very good (4) and that potato salad (mayo based) is perhaps the best that I have ever had. Cool in temp and creamy and smooth it's taste was perfect (5). From what I can tell, there are two ladies that work here. I know 2 things about them First, they are both very personable and friendly. Second, they know how to cook, period! So my first review for 2021 comes literally from the world renowned reputation of a little hole in the wall. I mean this place was so hidden that they don't even have a sign yet. Here's how it happened. I was browsing around Sam's Club just doing my normal shopping routine, when out of no where some random lady walks up to me and starts talking about how she's from Memphis and just opened a new restaurant in Jersey village that sells good Memphis style soul food and huge big burgers that are bigger than your mama's burger and how they have all kinds of different style of Buffalo wings. I mean she was going on and on and I said..okay I gather you sell wings. There was silence followed by a giggle and her handing me their impressive colorful business card thingy. Well fast forward to 6 hours later and hungry, I decided to go eye spy this place to give it a try. I yelped it... Nothing. So I had to add the business to review it. A lovely 2021 bonus for me. I drive there and was immediately lost. Based on the amazing photos on their Instagram page (once I found it) I was determined to find it. Googled the address again and again. Lost. So I'm sitting at the Citgo station confused. Pulled up to the store and was confused as I saw no sign even on the inside that said their name. So I called the number and they answered. And as I'm talking and looking inside the store, I see the lips moving of the person on the phone that synced with whom I was talking too. A scene straight from The Office. So yes... They are inside the Citgo station. Let me skip all this to the food. DAYUM! And if you missed that then let me get Friday on ya... DAAAYYYYUUUMMMMM! Look. The wings where freaking bad ass. Not the fat huge wings that all other businesses are trying to push on you. They were simply perfect in size, flavor and presentation. Uh... I done found my spot yall. Let's focus now on the smothered turkey wings on a bed of rice with a side of very seasoned green bean and amazing, got-dang spaghetti! People... These women can cook! Look, I don't care how your restaurant look. If it's clean and the food is this dang good... You're a five star in my book. Never judge a book by its cover. I highly recommend this place. You would never know this place is here unless you live in the area or stop by the gas station. I over heard a bartender talking about this place one time I was sitting down for lunch so I had to find this place and see what she was talking about. I stopped here last week to get some food Togo before going to work and it was well priced and definitely fresh. I got the lemon pepper wings because it was my first time and those shouldn't be hard to mess up lol. I will definitely come back and try all the different options from here and definitely tell others about this place. Everything that I have eaten from this establishment has been sooooooooooooooo good! From the pork chops (my husband's favorite), wings, nachos, cheese fries, spaghetti, okra, and burgers. Love this place. The owner is super sweet. It was a family vibe. Hey Auntie!!! The wings were really good. The flavors are intense. We had the hot lemon pepper and the regular lemon pepper. Yes these are both a must try! We also had the nachos because we saw they were made with Doritos ( like when we were teens) and they were fabulous. There was a sweetish sauce on another flavor of wings and I am not into sweet wings so those weren't my thing. The sauce also comes on the nachos but I had put on the side. If you have a chance stop by for some good wings, conversation, and possibly a little nostalgia. We'll be back!!! read more

Customer Service was AWESOME but the food was meh...we had the gumbo and the wings and fried rice. It wasn't horrible-just ok.

Great food as always. However, vendor seemed obviously stressed and DID NOT have great customer service on my wedding day. Had eaten at the truck several times, all great experiences. Wanted to hire all young Black entrepreneurs as wedding vendors, so it was only right. Had a contract for this event. First issue was that the contract specified 8 wings, fries, celery/carrots, ranch, and a drink for each guest. Owner clarified that drinks would not be provided (since we would have a bar), but drinks were still mentioned and priced in contract. Not a big deal. There were drinks at the wedding. The MAIN issue was that the owner yelled, slammed his hands on the counter, and cursed back and forth with me, FOR UPWARDS of 10 MINUTES during my wedding, because HE did not uphold the contract., once food ran out. He explained to me that he and his brother were sick and that he COULD HAVE cancelled and not come at all. In all honesty, I would have preferred this. Especially if you can't deliver 100% on a job that was paid in full. Contract (as well as text messages between myself and the owner) specifically expressed that tickets would be provided to each guest, by me. One meal would be provided per ticket. Once the agreed upon number of tickets were collected, meals would stop and we could pay more if we wanted to serve more. To add, no additional food was brought for us to even purchase, if guests wanted extra. I contracted for 110 guests. 93 tickets were collected (I counted what the truck had collected, from the truck). The issue was that the owner allowed guests to order 2 and 3 meals per ticket, and not collect tickets at all from some guests. This resulted in some guest not being able to eat at all, while some ate more than once. Other guest did not receive 8 wings and started to receive 5 and 6, as the food began to run out. Several guests had ticket numbers and were waiting on the orders to be ready, without being informed that there was no more food. If this was what I wanted on my WEDDING DAY, then I would have eliminated tickets all together and let everyone eat as they pleased. The point of a contract is to work logistics and explain exactly how business will take place. I was extremely patient for the entire day as the owner said that she would arrive by 4:30 (but texted me at 5:28 asking where to park) in order to start serving at 6pm. Upon arriving, the truck generator would not work, and we had to wait additional time for someone to bring another one. Once serving started, there were wait times (20+minutes) and chicken was being made to order instead of constantly fried then dipped in whatever sauce (as we agreed on). This affected the flow of the reception and toasts, as several guests were outside waiting for their numbers to be called. Very unfortunate experience, as I have always loved the food provided by this truck. Several guests have raved about the food and asked me if I would recommend for events. Unfortunately, with the customer service that I experienced on the "best day of my life," I can't say that I can. Waited to post a review to see if there would be some communication with the owner. It's been 3 weeks since the wedding and he has yet to rectify the situation by apologizing for his outburst or even refunding me for the unserved tickets. read more

I heard this place was in a gas station but that didn't deter me at all and ended up not making a bit of difference in the quality of the food. They are obviously a small operation and decided to pour money into the quality of their food and not the atmosphere. It literally is in a Citgo gas station...it will not make a difference trust me. I ordered a wing combo with fries as my side and a fried catfish filet a la carte (just to try it out). The food was delicious! The fried catfish came out hot and fresh, the breading was seasoned well and had the right amount of crunchiness to it. The wings were really good...no complaints on those. They weren't jumbo (which I hate because it makes me think of GMO chickens) and they were the perfect size. I got hot lemon pepper flavor and it did not disappoint. The fries were seasoned well too. Nothing spectacular about the fries but they were tasty. The whole presentation of the combo was nice. Had some celery and carrots with them too. The service was great. The cook and the lady taking orders were both helpful and super nice. Again I can tell they are just starting out so I was happy to support the business. I highly recommend you go out and support this small but very capable business. You won't be disappointed. read more
