I did not have too much time to find a caregiver, so I called a few places that happened to be at the top of the list when I searched for "Home Health Care." I like to think of it as Home Health One found me instead of the other way around. They were the 3rd call I made. The first 2 companies had recordings and I was on hold most of the time. When I finally did speak to someone, you could tell they were trying to speed up the process more-so than I was, so I felt overwhelmed and pressured and hung up. When I finally got to Home Health One, I was able to speak to a real human right off the bat. She answered every one of my questions thoroughly, was extremely patient with me being a newbie to the process, and assured me my dad would be in good hands. That, she was absolutely right about. She is kind, thoughtful, sweet and always on time and very efficient. Helen helped with grocery pick up and putting them away. She also provided light housekeeping support. I said I found her online searching for a doctor who understands low carb and would give me a comprehensive health eval and do extra blood tests that 99% of other doctors don't do. Also, I'm getting older and I suspect I have inflammation. She spoke a bit about what she does. It was what I was looking for. She mentioned her fee and I was ok with the fee. Then she said she only takes referrals from doctors because "most people don't understand what she does". If she just stopped her sentence at "only takes referrals from doctors" I would have thanked her and the conversation would have ended. But I replied that I do understand what she does and that I have a lot of knowledge about low carb and have done it on and off for years and have had success in weight loss and felt better. But I didn't stick with it because of my lifestyle and now in my 50's I have inflammation and I want to work with a doctor like her. She said she disagreed with me about why I didn't stick to low carb as if she has any clue about me, my health and life. She rambled on and kept pushing me for a doctors name even after I said I didn't have one. So thinking maybe it would help, I revealed a minor health issue I had in 2016 and how that doctor (I mentioned that doctor by name) told me to go low carb. She immediately started talking so she had no idea what I did and didn't do for treatment and what results were of tests I had back then in regard to this issue and that I have had no issues with it since. The conversation went on for a while and it was a jumbled mess. She was all over the place with her words. She spoke erratically. There was nothing linear about our conversation. She called me "obese". I never told her my height and weight but she probably took an educated guess thinking from a BMI perspective I am considered "obese". That's true but visually speaking I am overweight but I do not look obese. I'm not even in plus size clothing. It was totally unnecessary for her to call me obese in this conversation. Then she told me to go to any ol' MD, which is exactly what I don't want. I remember her saying the word "bariatric" in her mess of words and then she said that I need to get on pharmaceuticals and HRT. I said I want a doctor who will use nutrition and supplements first and see how it goes. She said it wouldn't be possible for me to do that and be successful with my health. She said this to me with minimal information about me and no lab work. I was shocked how a doctor who presents herself on her website as using food, fasting and supplements for health just wanted to pawn me off on any ol' MD and get on pharmaceuticals and HRT. I have read a ton of books and listened to a lot of podcasts on low carb, keto, carnivore and fasting. I know a lot can be corrected without drugs and HRT. And her website leads you to think she knows this too. Finally she sounded as if she had enough of dealing with me and wrapped up the conversation pushing me away and wishing me well in my health (something like that, it was a crazy whirlwind) and I literally stood there mouth agape at the appalling manner in which this doctor handled this entire conversation. Her site says her protocols "are designed to prevent the onset of chronic diseases and limit the progression of aging." Judging by her very comprehensive website I should have been a shoo-in for this doctor. But no. Something is very "off" about her. Update: Just looked at the facebook page for her practice. She claims she stands with "science" and that fraud Fauci. She actually believes "testing" with that fake PCR test means anything. She's masked up like a c0v-id cult freak in a few photos. She is decked out in these things. LOL She's a conventional medical industrial complex MD who just happens to follow a low carb/keto diet. I dodged a bullet.

Cordia is a wonderful place!…read more Our culture is such that mothers expect to remain in the house of one of their daughters until their death, however my house has stairs and is too dangerous for my mom. She was resistant to being anywhere but with family so moving her to Cordia produced a lot of anxiety for her. Thankfully, the wonderful staff at Cordia - from the lobby workers to the maintenance workers to the amazing dining room staff - all worked their magic to make her feel treasured and safe. Personally, I see that the staff at Cordia are very satisfied working with the senior residents there. I engage in conversations with them and am grateful for their kindness and respect for the residents and for each other. Cordia has a wonderful line-up of daily activities and they also have special activities for holidays. I'm super pleased to see my mom engaging in different activities that she never had done before Cordia. For example, I used to try to have her do chair workouts with me but she had always refused. Now at Cordia, she's down in the workout room at least 3 times a week!!! I think Cordia has given her new life! Unfortunately, our experience was mixed. The overall atmosphere often felt depressing and unwelcoming. Getting answers from nursing staff was often frustrating, as it sometimes seemed like they did not want to be bothered or responded with an attitude. I also found some staff members to be be unfriendly and lacking in empathy. Families rely on clear communication and compassion when a loved one is in rehab, and we did not consistently experience that level of care. The physical therapy dept. was a bright spot in my mother's day, but this was after switching the physical therapist from Steve to Desiree. Desiree stood out for her compassion, kindness, and genuine concern for her patients. She treated my mother with dignity and encouragement and made a meaningful difference in her rehab experience. I am very grateful for the care and dedication she showed. I recognize that rehab facilities can be busy and understaffed, but I believe there is significant room for improvement in communication (a simple good morning when you see a family member), responsiveness, and patient-family interactions. Again I want to acknowledge the outstanding work of Desiree for the positive impact she had on my mother's care.
