The haircut is choppy, totally uneven, when I put it in a ponytail (which is pretty much all the time in summer!) there's one random strand dangling out that looks totally ridiculous. Around 9:10 AM, I asked the receptionist if she had an estimated arrival time, just to make sure she was still coming. I was told that the stylist had said she would be there soon. At approximately 9:15 AM, Jessica arrived with a fresh coffee in hand. She did not acknowledge me as she got settled and prepared her workstation. Around 9:18 AM, she finally invited me over and asked "what do you want". I explained that I believed I had booked a blowout with hot rollers. I had called about six weeks earlier to make the appointment because I couldn't book that service through the online system. Jessica told me she didn't have hot rollers and could only use a curling iron. I declined the curling iron but said I would still like to proceed with the blowout. She asked me a few questions about how I wanted my hair styled. Since this was my first professional blowout, I answered as best I could, though I didn't have strong opinions on every detail. I then said, "If it's okay with you, we can skip the wash." My hair was still damp from my shower, and my makeup was done, so I was simply trying to preserve it. Jessica appeared to take this personally. She responded abruptly, saying something along the lines of, "I can tell you're irritated with me for being late. I drove an hour to get here and recently had a procedure, so I'm moving slow." I was completely caught off guard and replied that I hadn't said anything to suggest I was upset. She insisted it was my "energy" and repeatedly asked whether I wanted her to continue or if I wanted someone else to do my hair because I was "clearly irritated" with her. Throughout the conversation, she continued explaining why she had been late. After being asked multiple times if I wanted another stylist, I finally agreed that I no longer wanted her to do my hair because she had made me feel so uncomfortable. I called my fiancé to come pick me up and ended up crying outside, ruining all of my wedding makeup. The receptionist kindly came outside to check on me and even suggested other salons. Unfortunately, there were no other stylists available. By that point, I had less than an hour before I needed to leave for my civil ceremony, and I had to redo my makeup, dry my hair, and style it myself. No one should leave a salon feeling the way I did--especially on their wedding day.

The Hairport is in a standard strip mall location that is easy to locate next to Dave's Market with plenty of parking. Sarah gave me an extremely high quality hair cut and her prices are extremely reasonable. After two attempts at getting in as a first time client, without an appointment, I was finally accommodated by Sarah, the business owner. Sarah is friendly enough but still professional. Listens well and open to suggestions. While she politely asked me for a preference, I made sure to tell her other than broad stroke ideas, that I would let her do what she thinks is best for my personality, lifestyle, and facial shape. If that meant chopping off 2 inches, I am fine with it. Thankfully, she was thinking the same as I was and that is to keep the length and add more fringe layers for now. Keeping it safe for a first time visit. Great! Nervous about layers as really not all stylists can do it WELL. Voila! I was happy with mine. Good symmetry. She also did not feel the need to criticize my grown out, unequal cut just to strengthen her case to be my new go-to hairstylist. I liked that.
