We just relocated to Ohio from Texas and left behind an amazing cat-only vet that cared for our cats for nearly 15 years. I I found Cats Only here on Yelp and decided to take our 19 year old beautiful black cat Jetta here. She has kidney disease and we needed to establish a new vet relationship quickly. I cannot say enough great things about the team at Cats Only. The service and attention was amazing. They were extremely responsive via email which was my first real communication. The wait time when we arrived was next to nothing and they had towels treated with a kitty relaxer that you put over the carrier to help relax your kitty. They put us in a private room quickly and our first contact was with Hayley. Hayley asked the standard questions to understand our girl and weighed her too. Hayley was awesome. Very nice and kitty oriented for sure. Then came the best part of our experience, Dr Justin K. He was so kind and gentle with our girl and gave us a number of tips on how to continue giving her a good quality of life. He patiently answered all questions and provided some much needed advice. He also explained how accessible he would be if we ever needed anything. The checkout process was smooth too. I also must mention that their prices are extremely reasonable for a vet practice. I was pleasantly surprised at the lower than expected cost. Finally, I requested a follow up discussion with Shannon to talk through what to expect in this next phase of Jetta's life. Shannon was simply wonderful and answered all my questions while providing her own experience and assuring me that everything I was thinking and feeling was perfectly normal. I cannot recommend this veterinary clinic. Besides the ridiculously high price, I was given a cancer diagnosis for a cat with very minimal testing and an estimate of approximately $8500 to do more diagnostics or exploratory surgery. My cat had suddenly stopped eating and had developed ascites. Because of the fluid, she couldn't see anything through the ultrasound but did describe the liquid to me. I accepted what she said, although I had my reservations, and was preparing to help him be as comfortable as possible. After my emotional breakdown, I got it together and decided to get a second opinion. THANK GOD I DID!!!! I went to another vet who IMMEDIATELY looked at his bloated stomach and took sample of the the fluid , looking and feeling it, diagnosing him with FIP. I had never even heard of this disease. [My cat had seen two other vets] It is fatal unless treatment is started, so he would have died from this disease with me thinking it was cancer. Treatment was just approved in the US this past summer and is expensive, but it doesn't have to be a death sentence. Vet was perplexed as to why this wasn't considered as a possibility for Cats Only who should see this in their practice of working with only cats, especially after seeing what the fluid looked/felt like in his belly. He started his medication and within 3 days was back to his normal self of eating, hanging out with the family (not hiding under the bed) and the ascites started to slowly leave in about a week. He was literally skin and bones - had went from 12 lbs to 9 in about a month. He's now back to 12 lbs, but still has a ways to go. I'm so thankful that I didn't listen to this clinic who was pretty nonchalant about their diagnosis of cancer -- I appreciate hearing news directly so I can process it; however, there has not even been a follow up to check on him. Nothing. She gave him a death sentence that was completely wrong. I wonder how many other cats needlessly died due to misdiagnosis, especially of something that appears to pretty common in cats. read more

We had a great experience at the Cats Only Veterinary Clinic in Lewis Center. We recently found a stray cat and called in for an appointment. We were offered an appointment next day! They were amazing from the very start and offered us a towel with a cat calming spray. The wait to see the vet was a little longer than we expected, but we completely understood and were very thankful. There were a handful of other people there and it seemed like he may have been the only vet. It was very calm and relaxing in the room for our buddy and he roamed around! They offered multiple different snacks and treats for him! You can tell everyone there absolutely loves cats! My only complaint is that they checked him for fleas and we noticed one crawling on him when we went home. They only checked his back and we found it on his belly. He ended up getting a nice bath, which he obviously hated! We will definitely bring our other cats back! This little guy went to a new warm home and is enjoying so many snuggles! read more

This was my first experience with a cat only vet practice and it makes all the difference! They were able to see both of my cats at the same time for their new patient appointment and welcomed me to stay in the room the entire time to comfort my babies. Prior to the appointment, they asked about my cat's nicknames, favorite treats, and even reached out to previous providers to gather medical records. I have never seen my cats so comfortable in an exam room and everyone made sure to give them lots of lots and affection. The doctor even called me personally to discuss routine blood work results and answered all of my questions and concerns herself! Fantastic care with ongoing check-ins. My 12-year-old cat's vet recently retired and I was directed to Cats Only by friends and vets at Cat Welfare. It was a wonderful suggestion, as we needed to get to the bottom of some physiological issues that had been going on for some time. We went in for the initial physical with Dr. Symone Niesz-Ent and she was immediately engaged with him and thorough in her questioning about everything. The state-of-the-art facility is 100% focused on feline care, so no dogs or other animals allowed, which helps keep the stress level down a bit. They also have the ability to do surgeries, dental procedures, and various testings, which we ended up taking care same-day for our cat's kidneys. It was pretty quickly determined he is in early stages of kidney disease, so recommendations were made that helped almost immediately. I appreciate the honestly, that there is no reversing or curing the disease, but Dr. Niesz-Ent assured me changing his food to a kidney-friendly brand, using litter with attractant, and giving him a daily dose of oral anti-inflammatory would help alleviate the peripheral problems (of swollen bladder, pain and anxiety) - which it did almost immediately. He has been fairly normal with ZERO urinating outside the box and acting his usual self. I can't thank them enough for the ability to keep him comfortable in his senior years and highly recommend Cats Only for all feline lovers. I will note that the prices are commensurate to the fantastic services. I believe they can work with your budget in terms of payments ans clearly broke down all the various line items to me before committing to any services. They also have a retail shop open business hours to purchase all the special diet brands, litter, and treats. Exceptional care. I have been taking my cats to Cats Only since 2005. A few weeks ago, I put my sweet 16 year old cat down, having had him since he was a kitten. I'm getting choked up thinking about the kindness and care shown to him and me by the staff over the years and especially toward the end. He was a regular visitor and the staff (vets and vet techs, front desk ladies) treated him so sweetly and lovingly.... like he was the only cat they had seen all day. I have deep gratitude to the veterinarians and vet techs at Cats Only... thanks to their knowledge and expertise, I was able to have my beloved cat an additional 3 years. His much younger brother went for his annual today and they were just as kind as ever. We saw the same vet (who rearranged her schedule on "the day") for our visit today. I cannot say enough great things about this vet. Dr Beattie brought my cat back to life after he was adopted from the shelter. He suddenly became very sick and had secondary liver disease and suspected IBD. Everyone there took amazing care of my cat while he was hospitalized, updated me with pictures and videos, and were so accommodating with my work schedule. They were patient when I called repeatedly for updates on him and were amazing post care. I will never see another vet. I had my first visit here last week with my kitty Nutmeg, and the staff was wonderful! They were very sweet not only to me, but to my senior kitty, and they were very thorough in her examination. They were not judgmental when I opted out of a portion of lab work because it wasn't in my budget. They were open and honest about treatment and costs. They allow you to go into the examination room with your kitty. The pharmacy they use was easy, and I'm excited to bring my girl back! Long story short they save my baby's life, And when I brought him back to Cats Only thinking there's nothing else I can do, they were waiting for him when I arrived they brought him in immediately for examination without a blink of an eye. My Cat used to be seen by Banfield pet hospital for three years, there was always drama about his teeth, and it was such a hassle to bring him in, because he understood the Amount of stress it would be for him to be in the same room in the back where there's screaming dogs and uncomfortable cats. Then, one day, my Loki couldn't go In the litter box. I raced him immediately to an emergency hospital near Westerville Ohio, and the next thing I know, I'm paying a fat bill with zero findings. They told me to monitor him for a few days. The same episodes occurred and by the next day I called Banfield to see if he can be seen by his vet. The first thing they brought up was the amount of money it would take to do these tests and treat him, but they wouldn't tell me why they had to perform these test and failed to explain their thought process behind the examinations. Finally, after I realized that they are for-profit veterinarian hospital. I left and immediately followed a recommendation from a good friend. The moment I got to Cats Only, everyone explained to me in detail what they were going to do, why they were doing it, and why it was most effective to find anything. They explained to me that if they don't find anything that they would take further action to ensure that he is OK. In addition they made recommendations that were the bang for my buck to help with his constipation. When I came to pick him up, it was probably the most calmest he's ever been. Unlike Banfield, he was super cooperative and they enjoyed spending time with him there. He was happy and his anxiety was so low, surprisingly low since he is a skiddish cat. That alone gave me reassurance that I took him to the right place.After a few days it seemed like the problem resolved and life went on as normal. So far first visit was great! A few months later, Loki had a series of symptoms that inevitably were caused by a urinary tract obstruction. He got to the point where he never fought me to get into his kennel and had a high pitch whimpering like a dog. I knew something was wrong, relayed this information, and the staff was prepped and ready to take him in. Had I waited just a few more hours, he would've died. All hands were on deck for my poor Loki. They saved his life, and I can never think them enough. They called me every morning with updates, and let me in to see him every day. The staff and broke everything down to me, and reassured me that things were moving in the right direction. The team was extremely supportive and never judged me, not once. When I took him in for reevaluation assuming the worst, they gave me good news, again...gave me reassurance, and told me how great of a job I was doing! They should seriously consider having like a counselor for calming down family, because their staff literally did everything that seemed like it was outside of their job description. It truly shows how much they care. Because of how they took care of my baby and how great they were with me....I will always go back. read more

First let me say this, this is not a cheap place by any means. I do believe considering the fact this is a vet office that specializes in only cats makes it reasonable for it's price point. Any vet office can at some point have miscommunication at a small degree. My personal opinion is I love this place. Everyone in the office is lovely. They are very transparent in terms of recommendations and giving you prices for said recommendations so you can make a financial decision in real time. Sometimes receptionist are a bit dismissive but not to the extent where I'd consider it rude or off putting. I previously was with a money grab vet office that only wanted to continuously run test after test and prescribing the same medication over and over even though it wasn't working. My little girl had to be sent to med vet to get new medication because she was loosing to much blood and walking like she was drunk. All over a UTI My old vet had the AUDACITY to tell me, when I asked after the 3rd test if she did a culture test on her urine, well you didn't request for that. After I took her to med vet and actually had people who cared and gave her proper medication she was in tip top shape. I then decided a specialist vet would make me feel WAY more secure in relation to getting her proper care. I found Cats only and they were able to diagnose her with an inflammatory disease that causes continuous UTIs / crystals forming in the bladder. They placed her on a permanent diet and from that day on she goes potty with no pain, no more UTIs and destroys my house like she did before all of this. They're very caring and loving to my two cats and think of their comfort while they visit the office. The doc is very quick, efficient and asks if you have any concerns in relation to your pets health or behavior. I like that she's quick because I feel like it helps alleviate the stress for my cats. But by no means does that make the care/ service less than perfect. The office is very well kept and they always have treats available for your pet if they need to distract them from what the doc is doing during examination. They also prove calming towels that you can place over your cats carrier to help them be less stressed while they're in the office! Examination rooms are a bit small but sufficient enough. I haven't had any bad experiences at cats only and I hope I never do! read more

I had such a tactless, unprofessional, awkward experience with this place. I would not recommend them. My cat was very old and was nearing the end of her life (could no longer see or hear, trouble walking, trouble sleeping, incontinent). I called to inquire about options for the end of her life. The response by the receptionist was so jarring - I described the cat's condition and she seemed confused, and then said "Ohhhh, so you want us to euthanize your cat?" Yikes. Regardless, we made a curbside appointment for the cat to be examined. We waited 30 minutes in the parking lot, which was annoying but I suppose understandable. Then they came to get her from the car, and the vet called while we waited in the car, and concurred that our kitty was out of quality of life and she agreed it was time. They said I could come in to be with her while they did it. I walked in to the waiting room, and stood there until someone walked by and noticed me, the receptionist I believe. She led me into a room - I was immediately confused - there was a cat laying motionless on the table. Not my cat - someone else's... already euthanized cat. The receptionist told me to hold on and I backed out into the hallway, dumbfounded. I heard her go get someone else, and that someone came in and said something like "are you f**king kidding me?!" The receptionist said it would be just a moment, then went back to the reception area to gossip about what just happened, me still standing in the hall. Finally they brought out my cat to the room and the deed was done. As I walked out in tears, I looked to the receptionist in inquiry, and she said "you're all set!" which is what I was hoping - then she back peddled and said "oh wait, no that'll be $180." I was so lost in tears and snotting into my mask that I just mumbled "kicking me when I'm down, eh?" and paid it - honestly I don't even know what I paid for - they didn't tell me or give me a receipt. Let's put it this way, the silver lining of my cat being dead is I don't have to go back to this place. read more

I have a rescue cat that is now about 11 years old. I had taken all my dogs to Knapps since the early 1970s and never had a problem. They don't groom animals though, especially cats. So I found a place close by called The Grooming Spot and they did a fantastic job on her twice, for just around 100 bucks. This year however, they had lost their head-groomer and were not taking cats any longer. So a friend at work says "there's a place called "Cat's Only Vet" and she thought they did grooming. I called and made an appointment. We took Bella in (after a 60 or 70 dollar deposit--never heard that before) but she was due for her rabies shot and senior exam anyway, so we went. 203 dollar later, we were told she was in GREAT shape and we could now schedule her for grooming BUT "We aren't professional groomers but we'll do our best." Cat had to be dropped off at 730AM and since I start at work at 530AM, my son took her. He was there at 720AM and waited until 730 to try the door, he said a "bell" rung when he opened the door and a minute later someone came out and said "We'll call you as soon as she's done!" I called THEM a little before 3 and the lady said "She doing great! She's being so good!" She then asked me if I wanted to "make an appointment to pick her up?" Huh? I made an appointment and brought her in on the button, you said you'd call us when she was ready, and now I have to make an appointment to come get her?! Fine. They told me 430PM. I came about 425. One of the front desk ladies said "You can just have a seat!" 30 minutes later I walked up again and said "I was told 430, it's now nearly 5. What's happening?" She said "Oh, let me go check!" Ten minutes passed and another young lady asked me if I'd been helped. I told her I had and she said "you can go have a seat!" I said "Nah, I'm just going to wait right here." When they brought her out they'd done EXACTLY what I asked them NOT to do and given her a "Lion's Cut." Then they said "That'll be 336.50!" So what had cost me in prior years about 150 for a wellness exam and rabies shot at Knapps, and around a hundred at The Grooming Spot, had just cost me OVER twice the amount--for the exactly WRONG haircut. RUN FROM THIS PLACE! I looked over my bill and since the vet told me "We only take blood to make sure she's healthy enough IN CASE they need to sedate her. They not only gave her gabapentin to "calm her," they also gave her an injected sedative. That was 114 bucks. They said "we threw in a "complimentary nail trim" (my daughter has been clipping her nails like a boss since Bella was a year old. She didn't need a nail trim) They pretend they're special because they "only" do cats and then they make you grab-ankle and smile. NEVER AGAIN. Worst vet experience I've had since I have been taking dogs and cats to the vet--about 58 years. I have had many wonderful, and sad, interactions with vets. Worthington Animal Hospital, OSU Vet clinic (who save one of my lab's life on New Year's Eve 1982) This place acts like they're "special" because the only see cats. I have been a client at Cats Only for 26 years. My recent experience, however, should dissuade any clients from continuing to choose this practice as their primary veterinarian. I recently had to euthanize my cat and Dr Saffire and her team refused to see him in the day preceding his death, despite him having cancer and her team having treated him for years (at a cost of thousands of dollars) because she was too busy seeing other patients. Earl had been in their care for the preceding 5 days for boarding, yet their trained clinical team did not notice that he was critically ill. When I messaged to inquire, I was only offered excuses that were clearly intended to justify their lack of responsibility. I was forced to take him to the OSU Veterinary Hospital Emergency clinic , where it was ultimately determined that euthanasia was the most viable option. Even when I messaged Cats Only to inform them of Earl's death, I received no response from my Dr Saffire. Nada. Enough said. She must be too busy. Cats Only used to be the best veterinary clinic for cats in town, but that is no longer the case. Do not choose this practice. Profit has replaced care. Please don't let your cat suffer the same the same fate. read more

Recently moved to Columbus from out of state. We scheduled an appointment for one of our cats about a week out. Got a call the evening before the appointment telling us we needed to make a deposit of approx. $100 with a credit or debit card or they couldn't see our cat. If you don't mind a veterinarian with no human social skills or being overcharged by hundreds of dollars for services, then Cats Only Vet Clinic is the place for you! I took my cat here for a couple of visits with Dr. Willis. Admittedly I did skip an annual exam, but then brought my cat in when he seemed to be down with a bad virus. Instead of just outright scolding me (which believe me I would've preferred), Dr. Willis passive aggressively tsked tsked me through my freaking cat! "Oh Winston, how come you only come see me when you're sick?? Oh you poor baby." For real you crazy lady? I'm standing right here. Talk to my FACE. That alone was enough to let me know I needed to switch vets. I want a vet that can talk to me like a normal human being. Thanks. Well it turns out that my cat also had some pretty bad gingivitis and needed a dental cleaning and tooth extractions. The estimated cost for these services? Over $900! I was shocked, but went ahead an made an appointment. However, at the last minute I canceled because something just didn't seem right. How was I to know if they were screwing me over on cost of services? I wanted a second opinion. I took my cat to North Arlington Animal Clinic and was so relieved to find a knowledgeable vet that was great with my cat and great with talking to me as well. To top it off she charged me over $400 LESS than what Cats Only wanted to charge! I have an itemized list from both clinics and Cats Only wanted to charge me double for just about everything. Perhaps they think they can get away with these prices because they specialize in only cats. It's totally ridiculous. I'm so glad I decided to take my cat elsewhere. read more

Five Stars, easy. We arrived in Columbus after a few months on the road, moving here from California. Our 20-year-old cat was nearing the end, and Cats Only became the ones to guide us through it. Our poor cat been through a hard year; getting subcutaneous fluids daily because of her failing kidneys, plus that cross-country move. We also worried about whether we could find a veterinarian as good as our San Francisco one (Especially Cats, in case you're interested). Cats Only was incredibly kind and supportive. We only visited there a few times before it was time to put our cat down, and for that final visit Dr. Willis was especially supportive. She took time to guide us through what was to happen, and let us take all the time we needed. It was an especially good gesture that our final visit was no charge. Part of me feels like this should be a no-brainer -- faced with the painful sacrifice of putting your cat down, the last thing you want as an extra bill at the end of that. Yet, veterinarians are businesses, and I suspect even our old fave back in San Francisco wouldn't have been this generous. It's a great feeling to know a veterinarian that puts our grief above their profits. It took a while, but we've begun the process again -- two new kittens are bounding around our house as I type. And one very real reason we were ready to do this was the knowledge that we have a caring and trustworthy vet to take them to when the need comes. I love Cats only. In february of 2022 I adopted a cat from a shelter and he ended up very sick with many health problems including progressive feline leukemia. Dr. Beattie was so empathetic and always was so heartfelt when dealing with my fur baby. Never hesitated to get him in and make sure he was comfortable when he was declining. When the time came to put him down 6 months later, Dr. Beattie shed tears with me and truly felt what I was going through. I will always come to cats only because from the first visit to the last they have always made me feel so comfortable and treat my cats like they are their family too. I have tried other vets and it's truly not comparable. I trust Dr. Beattie to effectively find out the problem and the best way to deal with it for my baby and myself too. Cat's Only is a small, quiet feline-only veterinary hospital on Riverside drive, and I have had nothing but wonderful experiences with the staff there. We always took our kitties there when I was a kid, and I take my own cat there now. The doctors and receptionists are helpful and friendly, and they go out of their way to remember names and faces. They always make me feel welcome, and shower my kitty with love and compliments. My family recently had to have a very old, sick, well-loved cat euthanized, and they sent us a flower arrangement and a card signed by all the staff members. We recently took our cat to Cats Only and it was the best experience we have ever had going to the vet. The doctors and technicians spent a lot of time with us, were incredibly thorough and very compassionate. I felt our aged cat was truly cared for by everyone there. On our third visit, we were there to put our 20 year old cat to sleep. Dr. Willis was extremely kind and compassionate. She really helped us get through this terribly difficult task. First time here, it's definitely the nicest looking vet's office I've ever seen. It nice to not have that animal smell around. It's also kind of nice to be a cats only place, as dogs in the waiting room can make my cat even more nervous. During the exam, all of the staff were super nice. They were very professional, and handled my (quite nervous) little buddy very well. The Dr. explained everything very well, and even went into why they did some things differently than my old vet. Took in our beautiful, shy, indoor-only and beloved rescue-Maine Coon a couple of years ago. He was ill. He had been recently diagnosed as marginally diabetic and they wanted to run tests. We were also leaving town soon so he boarded there for a couple of days, during which time he got no attention whatsoever (I went thru the "magic door" and witnessed it myself on day 1 -- how I wished I'd gone ballistic right then.) Meanwhile they sent me to buy a $300 bottle of insulin at Walgreens because this "cats only" clinic had none of their own. (I mean, really?) I was supposed to bring them the insulin the next day. When the vet phoned the next morning I could sense she was panicky. We drove to the clinic immediately and it was clear to all the Houdini was dying. They turned him over to us, we rushed to Ohio State where they confirmed the obvious. Ohio State said if he'd somehow accidentally poisoned himself (a possible cause of the illness the prompted us to bring him in a few days before) it was assuredly too late for dialysis, he was, by then, in multiple-organ failure. In his final moments of life, our quasi-conscious Houdini surprised us all when he responded to our voices and struggled to physically reach out to us. And so he died. We had used this clinic a number of times for the same cat and others with no problems. But prompt service and smiles go only so far. My trip thru the magic door made it clear that they either had protocols that weren't up-to-snuff or they didn't follow them. IOW they essentially ignored our dying pet for two days. Beyond ridiculous -- if our cat had been a human, they'd now be out of business. Save yourself the risk -- and take your cats to Ohio State. I wish we had done this with Houdini. read more

I have taken my cats here several times now and everyone is always so friendly! While you cannot go in with your cat, I have went in before and they are as gentle as they can be with her cat. They make the environment calm and understand when you have a cat that does not enjoy going here. I cannot speak for the prices because this is the first vet I have taken my cats to. My cat also had dental work that was a pretty penny but, I think it as appropriate because my friends dog had the same done and it cost a little more. I feel comfortable when my cats are with them! read more

I love this place. I have been bringing my fur-babies here since I moved to the city in 1995. They have seen me through 5 cat and kidney failures, old cats, young cats, new cats - they are the best! Dr. Kohn is my fave doc- but have seen a few others too. Clean, caring, and while not the cheapest, ALWAYS the best! read more

My poor cat Hermie was diagnosed with cancer. The entire staff was so great. Dr Saffire gave me lots of suggestions to make his time left more comfortable. And when it came time to let him go to his heavenly home she was so compassionate about walking me through the process and making sure he was comfortable. Cats Only was the first clinic to come up on Yelp, but I called around to a couple others to compare prices. In the end Cats Only was much cheaper than other locations. I have never had to wait past my appointment time and have had good experience with the everyone from front desk to the doctors! I would recommend! Also, they have a good selections of toys in case you want to get your little nugget something after getting his shots! read more

yay for cat-only animal hospitals.. I took my kitten I found out back of a strip club there. Along with the kitten being very cooperative, the nurses and doctor were very kind. The place is quiet and there is a big fuzzy cat that lives there in the waiting room office. I would suggest making an appointment beforehand since when we got there, both of the doctors were in surgery and was had to wait a couple min. Plus, the prices aren't anymore than you'd pay at a regular vet. Since I had brought in a stray and we weren't sure if we were keeping her, they itemized the medicines she would need and we chose the ones that we wanted to have immediately. Anything to make the trip to the vet a little bit better for ol' pussy cat. read more

Cats Only Clinic provided suburb service, offered a clean environment, and was reasonably priced. I took my cat there for the first time today for a checkup and flea treatment. Dr. Cohn was fabulous with her and helped to put me at ease too. The appointment went 100x better than expected considering that my feline is a straight up scar-dy cat. Dr. Cohn built rapport with my cat, was extremely gentle, and knowledgeable. This clinic comes highly recommended. read more

Plan on spending at least twice what you would be charged by many other clinics. I took my cat to CATS ONLY for nine years until he began to have some health problems. Then I realize I couldn't afford their ridiculous fees. My new vet charges about one third of what they charged. Additionally, they always tried to rush me out of the office, and didn't want to take time to answer all my questions. In terms of quality service, this is my biggest criticism. I don't recommend this clinic even if you are rich enough to afford it. read more

I unfortunately have a cat that is not happy to be at the vet, and Cats Only was still compassionate towards him and Octavia tried everything before having to sedate him (to even treat him). The staff was professional, compassionate, and explained everything in great detail but also simply terms. I also appreciated they had clear pricing and all pricing was explained before any tests, etc. were done. I would highly recommend Cats Only to any cat owner. read more

They have been the vet for our cat for a year and half now. We went to this vet because our cat is not around dogs and visits to our vets with dog kennels would cause more stress on our cat. The office environment is very calming. All of the employees are very professional and caring. read more
