We had a company retreat in Hunter in the beginning of March for 30+ people and needed to plan two lunches that were complicated by the fact that our group has a wide variety of individualized food needs (vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, allergies, etc). I was connected to Natasha who was friendly and worked hard to ensure that everyone's individualized food needs were taken care of. Their menu was impressive because of all the different options that they had and everyone was excited to choose their own meals. Natasha went out of her way to short order cook all the lunches, pack them all individually with labels, and deliver them to our rental in Hunter. I love trying out new burgers and could not resist ordering the Herb burger and the Valentine burger. They were delicious! Another food item I need to highlight was their homemade donuts. I cannot say enough nice things about the whole experience and I thank them for helping make our retreat a huge success! read more

I always used to pass this place going further up the mountain, and finally kept my promise to stop there while my sister was visiting. The food is great--it's a new twist on old favorites and very reasonable. Coffee and capuccino aren't bad either. The store is a little overpriced on some things, very reasonable on others, so that's left for you to decide. They sell very nice incense, and that's very reasonably priced. Lot's of "gifty" stuff, which really doesn't interest me since I'm local to the area. read more

Our family loves this place! The food is by far the best near the mountain. The store is adorable and my kids love playing in the back and sampling all the great jelly and peanut butter. They're very patient with kids in there too and everyone is nice and welcoming when you come in. They have great meats/cheeses and bakery items as well to accompany your ski weekend. read more

Family owned Catskill Mountain Country Store & Restaurant is a jewel in the crown of Windham. I continually admire how Drew and Natasha have grown their business over the years and appreciate their creative touch in product selection and merchandising, whether in the huge variety of fun and practical goodies in the store to fresh produce to the incredible Toy Room (no junk here!). Everything they do measures up to a higher standard of quality and service. Experience the restaurant for breakfast or lunch. Great shop, great atmosphere, staff were friendly. We had lunch here mid week and for the price, the food was below par on what we have experienced so far throughout New York State. Drinks were well below par, at $6 for a espresso milkshake I wanted something a little more. The automatic 20% gratuity on the bill for 5 people was the finishing touch especially considering we were the only ones in the restaurant, still don't understand the tipping philosophy here in the states. read more

Sadly, this establishment seems to be moving downhill. Perhaps the lack of ski-season weather and tourists have forced them to cut back a bit? A side order of bacon should not consist of two strips. A veggie omelette should contain veggies - throughout! Lifting the egg and seeing the sparse diced veggies was disappointing. Worst of all was the half order of toast you now receive with your eggs. One slice of bread cut in half to two pieces? Really? What are they really saving if they wind up losing regular customers? They are not cheap, and they should be more consistent. Additionally, I understand the "country feel" of the whole place, but I don't want to feel as if I'm eating in a barn as their cat crawls under my table brushing my legs. I can't help but wonder where else this cat is allowed to roam and how sanitary their kitchen is kept with a cat roaming in and out of it? More than a bit turned off now.... read more

The food is very good. Place is a nice and has a nice country feel to it. I'm am originally from the area and have been going there for years. I wasn't just there last weekend and my family and I split 2 orders of pancakes and they. They bring us a small thing of syrup and I asked for some more and the waitress said she would have to charge us for more syrup. I have never heard of anyplace ever charging for syrup. I think that's ridiculous. It's a condiment. Restaurants should not be charging for condiments. She said that the little cup of syrup she brought us was enough for 3 orders which was not the case. I think she charged us 3.99 or something for the extra syrup. I didn't care about the money but the fact that they charged us for the syrup honestly got me upset. At a place where you can get all the maple syrup you want from locals who make there own and charge practically nothing for it. Seems like they are trying to take advantage of the costumer. Since it's a tourist spot and most of their customers are from the city and don't think twice about being shared extra. I think it's wrong and bad for business. read more

Fun general store for locally made sweets, dairy, bread, jam and canned goods products. The staff are friendly too. Bought a selection of hot sauces, horseradish mustards, fresh cheeses, dark chocolate almond bark, peanut brittle and jalapeno cheese bread. All are delicious. Went here with my buddies and our sons. Store was great. Jams and other items were yummy. Food was very average. Given the area, would have given four stars. The service however was not great. For some reason, the waitress seemed bothered and hade a huge chip on her shoulder. Actually, she ended up being just plain rude. Lastly, the manager or owner felt the need to come over and ask us to be more specific in our order next time....... So tacky!! read more

A great place for a really good breakfast or lunch. The vibe is country -warm, friendly and relaxed. Everything tastes fresh and homemade. The baked goods and jellies and jams are worth a visit and there are fun interesting items in the store. I like to eat outside on the porch next to the flowers. read more

This place is amazing! We had a large group and came in right before closing. They still took us and were so polite. Service was amazing and the food was unique and delicious. I highly recommend this place if you are around the area. It is hard to find a great place like this in the Catskills. Each and everyone of us had a different meal and raved about it. I love this place. I've been going here for years, and enjoy their breakfasts and lunches. NOTE: No dinner, and they close their restaurant at 3PM. The store stays open later. I recommend "Smoken Fish" for lunch. It is super super super amazing. This place is sort of interesting. The staff are nice but I wouldn't say very friendly. Not unfriendly just not particularly warm or interested. The tchotchkes and such are cute and they have lots of candy bins. The fudge is really great. We did have lunch. They have lots of options which is nice. Everything was fine. Good. It did smell like burnt oil which was sort of yucky but not such a big deal. We will be back next time we are in Windham. read more

A surprise around every corner...this quaint country store incorporates all that country should be. The breakfast is fantastic, from the farm fresh eggs to the unbelievable pancake and stuffed french toast specials....portions are enormous and delicious...and afterward we were able to walk it off strolling around their petting zoo and in their shop which has the cutest of cute merchandise. The staff was super friendly, informative and helpful....the espresso milkshakes are out of this world!! Not to mention all the flowers and oooh the fudge! Always a stop for this family. read more

The Catskill Mountain Country Store is our favorite breakfast place when we go skiing. The kids call it the pancake place, because the pancakes are so delicious! The food is fresh and creative and the service is friendly. Be sure to get there early, because it is well known by the locals and fills up fast! read more

I'm a local and this is one of our favorite places for breakfast and lunch. They serve great pancackes, waffles, omlettes for breakfast with Real maple syrup. Lunch - great wraps, sandwiches. The shop has lots of fun novelties, and I often shop there for groceries - local dairy, produce, bread, and of course pies. Staff is very friendly and owners are super nice. read more

This place is as good as it gets in terms of breakfast and lunch in the Windham area. The staff is always gracious and has no problem with getting you anything you need, whenever you need it. The food does take slightly longer to come out, especially if there is a crowd, but it's just because everything is so fresh and made from scratch. What a wonderful place! If there were 10 stars, I'd give it 10! The food was great, the store was cute, with lots of great children's toys. The best part about it though, was that you can spend the entire day there with kids. They have short hiking trails, lots of animals for the kids to see (ponies, goats, rabbits, not to mention several friendly cats strolling around the grounds), a wonderfully shaded playground, a pond with a shaded bench swing for the adults to sit on, a coloring station with sidewalk chalk, a BIG chair for the kids to play and sit in, and more. We planned to get a quick bite there and then to on to spend the day elsewhere, but everyone was having so much fun there that we decided to spend the whole afternoon there. What a gem! :) read more
