This is a must read and make sure you check the photos attached. I'll start positive and then tear it apart so keep reading. Food, fantastic. 10/10. I've never had a bad meal here. Probably the best French toast I've had on the mountain top, and I've lived here almost 26 years, my whole life. It's expensive but worth it. Atmosphere, atrocious. This place is weird to begin with but the cats, stray cats and dogs running around are unacceptable. I have a cat allergy, not a severe one, I don't go into anaphylactic shock or anything but I do get itchy and my eyes water. I typically choose places with worse food in town because of this but for whatever reason I went here last Monday (22Oct2018). A cat crawled around my legs underneath the table and actually jumped up on my thigh. My boyfriend knocked it off, knowing if I touch my face after the cat my eyes will get scratchy and I'll get sneezy. The cat went to the other side of me and did it again (photos of all of this attached). I'm really not sure how the health department, let alone the owners (who actually brag about this in their website) allow this. It has the feel of "cracker barrel", but with better food. Breakfast and lunch are both good and the waitresses are helpful in recommending whatever you're in the mood for. I would have definitely given it a higher rating, but........we went for lunch w/ 2 couples (with 2 infants and a toddler in tow).........they added a gratuity charge to the bill in which I wasn't aware of until after I already paid (shame on me for not looking over the bill with a fine tooth comb as I usually do). So I wound up paying a 15% gratuity charge AND leaving a 20% tip on the table. Not the end of the world, but I was kind of aggravated because I was never charged a gratuity in the past, and I've been here many times with even more people than I had today. Even though I feel I was taken advantage of today, I still recommend this place if your in the Windham area.........just make sure to review your bill closely. read more

My SO and I love coming to this place. We come upstate around once or twice a month and we always make sure to come here for breakfast. The hot mulled apple cider and fresh squeezed orange juice to start us off happy, and literally anything on the menu. We love the french toast, the bacon, the pancakes, the omelettes, the bacon (yes twice), the turkey sandwich with cranberry chutney and chips and salsa, the fries, and the fresh specials that are always something fun and different. After a long hike we found this place on yelp with great reviews and knew we had to try it. Instantly felt like a better cracker barrel when we walked in because of the awesome store you walk into. Then we realized how much better than a cracker barrel it is. The staff was extremely friendly and everything was so fresh. The coffee, the eggs, pancakes, jelly and syrup were incredibly fresh and made there. The rye toast, it was a marbalized rye and came out warm and baked to perfection. So good. Our meals were amazing and even got to try the apple cider donuts, wow. Will definitely be back here again, and will never be able to look at a cracker barrel again. read more

Felt like I was visiting a friend's quaint, country home, complete with porch cats. If you're looking for a fresh, home-cooked meal with lovely service, I highly recommend this place. One of the best breakfasts I've had (went with a party of 12 and everyone LOVED their meal). The "raw fries" were the best part of every egg order. The country store is adorable and the dining area feels like you're in a country kitchen. This is a cozy and great spot for good breakast and lunch items. They have delicious milk shakes and home made food! As a bonus there are many great items for sale on the 'store' side of the restaurant. This is one of my favorite spots but there are cats that roam the place while you are eating. I personally do not like when animals are rubbing against me or hoping up on chairs trying to get some food especially when I do not know the pets or where they have been. read more

The food was delicious and the ambience adorable. I ordered a stack of 3 different pancakes to go. I was charged $22. Their most expensive stack is $12. I was positive this had to be a mistake. I was wrong. The owner came out and explained, as she stood over me, that the work that goes into making 3 different kinds of pancakes was labor intensive for the chef. "3 different orders, 3 different containers(?),3,3,3....". Instead of being charged per pancake I was charged a short stack price for each, give or take a dollar. The owner did state that the breakdown of charges was not on the menu, but as soon as it is, she's sticking to it. In the end I paid $10. After all of that, I went to my car and curiously cracked open the to-go container to take a look at what a $22 stack of labor intensive pancakes actually look like. **Response** Natasha, I get it that you're upset with my review. That picture was taken minutes after I got into my car, still in front of your restaurant. This is my truth and I stand behind the experience. Your waiter was great. We came for breakfast and, while the food was great, the service was haphazard yet polite. There a store filled with country tchotchkes, candy, snacks, and local souvenirs to browse, and even a nice assortment of plants and flowers outside for you gardening folks. The dining area is off to the left when you enter. After waiting a few uncomfortable minutes for the busy staff to acknowledge we wanted to be seated, we made the mistake of opting for a table on the less-crowded outside porch. It was a cool, beautiful morning anyway. Why not enjoy the first meal of the day out there? Well, because the servers may forget we were out there, that's why. Still...we were finally seated. The menus came a few minutes later, and we were asked if we wanted coffee or tea. Our server came back with the steaming mugs sometime later...like 5 minutes later. A long time, if you ask me. But who am I? Meh...just someone who's been in the hospitality business for over two and a half decades! She brought milk, but there was no sugar. After waiting for what seemed like an eternity, another server approached to take our order, and ran to get us some sugar, too. At this point, there were two other tables seated after us. It was a slow go for them, too. They were more vocal about it...lots of huffing, puffing, and whining. Us? None of that nonsense. It's just more time for us to enjoy the scenery before stuffing our faces. Our theory, if we don't like the experience at any place, we just won't go back...not hem and haw out loud and annoy other tables. That's just rude. When the grub finally came...an cream cheese and chive omelette with sweet potato hash and rye toast, while I had blueberry pancakes and warm granola cereal. The food was very, very good. Good flavors, fresh looking and tasting; a great start for our bellies. A golden cat came strolling by on the porch and hopped on the empty chair at our table to hang with us. We didn't mind at all, and gave him some attention. Our server checked on us and apologized about the cat and offered to shoo him away...but we told her not to as the kitty licked the whipped cream off of my index finger. Yes, service was "in the weeds" as is said, but the food and dining on the porch made up for it. When two city people are lucky enough to spend time up here in the Catskills like us...we must remember to slow down, enjoy each other's company, and breathe in some country air. When I was a kid it was known as the Bountiful Basket, either way, this place is the epitome of country charm. If you're up visiting the Catskills you can not leave without sitting down for breakfast here, or without picking up one of their delicious homemade pies or quick breads on the way out. Everything is delicious, but they are known for having some of the best pancakes around. They use a lot of local ingredients and everything is fresh, natural, and homemade. They serve lunch as well, and that menu looks just as good. You can also purchase food items here, everything from produce to gourmet salsas and spreads, organic foods, real maple syrup, and even old fashioned candies. This place is pretty sweet. We were here on a Saturday for lunch, and we just missed the crowd. Seriously, there was a 40 minute wait by the time we were finished. The country store attached is adorable, and it is very nice that there are free samples of salsa, jam, pretzels and crackers. I would say however, that about 40% of the store merchandise might be better replaced with more seating area. There's a whole toy room? I don't know it just seems to me that the space might be better served by additional tables, since the restaurant is so popular. I had the cheese fries, which were very good, the cheese had just the right amount of spice on them. I also had the Monte Cristo french toast, which is served with a REAL maple syrup at each table (Aunt Jemima, no offense but I hate you) The food took a long time to come, but our server was very friendly. I came here for brunch and had the apple pancakes. There were 3 of us at noon on a Sunday and we waited a bit to get a table. Once we got a table, we did wait a bit until our food finally came out. This place is just great! This is pretty biased since attaching a country store to anything would make me fall in love with it, be it a restaurant, maximum security prison, mortuary, etc. That being said, this place knows a solid country meal. The wait was a little longer than anticipated due to the rain, which shut down the outside sitting area and brought in a bigger crowd whose activities had been hindered by the weather. No worries - there are tons of free samples of jellies and treats around the country store. Got annoying kids? They've even got the backroom for that, with toys galore to keep them occupied. On to the food, I've had their pancakes and their eggs, and both are fantastic. Sweet potato homefries are off the chain, little more than a sliced up and sauteed sweet potato but damn was it awesome. They also have awesome fancy hot drinks. Got me a pumpkin spice thing that was great. Bill was only $35 for myself and my girlfriend, getting sides and fancy drinks. Overall, this place is a must-visit if you're staying in or near the area. They were extremely accommodating for our large-ish group of 7. Everything is super fresh, tons of options and excellent milkshakes (try the espresso one with coffee ice cream). The waiter literally slammed the menus in front of us and was in general disgruntled by the entire process. Nashe was nice too all other patrons dining in. Wonder why We had the chicken salad wrap. It was a good option for the hike. It came with chips and salsa. The chips unfortunately was not crispy anymore by the time we got to the top of our hike.
