She was running the whole time we were there. But always had a smile on her face! Food and ambiance was what we were looking for. This is small town USA at its best. If you're passing through Mitchell Oregon you must stop! We plan to stop on our way back. How could we not. Love this place!!!!

Tiger Town Brewing was on my list for breweries to try for a long time. So when we went to the area…read moreto see the Painted Hills we made sure to stop here for lunch and to try their beers. I will get to the beers first. We tasted several different ones and unfortunately we didn't feel very impressed. Some of the beers had an odd aftertaste to them. But in the end we settled on the Tokyo Chad. This was a Japanese Rice Lager and we liked this beer relatively well. Not the best Japanese Lager we have ever come across but it was okay. Flavor features in this beer is biscuity and grainy. What we liked best about Tiger Town was the food. I got their cheeseburger with pepper jack cheese and their Sidewinder Fries (similar to French Fries only curvy) were excellent. Everything with the meal tasted good and fresh. The atmosphere is fun and has some quirks going on with it mainly with the pictures they have hung up in the dining area. Staff was very good. They were attentive and very friendly and cheerful to interact with. If we are back in the area we would certainly come here for the food again as we were very impressed with it. We just weren't too terribly wild about the beer.

And to our pleasant surprise they had a small selection of nice liquor and a good selection of beers. The place was a bit busy but we had great service from a very nice waitress. We travel through often and will make this a stopping point in the future. Four stars is high for a burger and pizza place but they had some nice specials, booze and great service.

Let's be clear, we're largely talking pub-grub. But, it's probably the best pub-grub in Oregon, Washington or Idaho. And, the value equation is so good it's silly. All the food is from-scratch, and the wait staff is nice, with Eastern Oregon sensibilities. We had 5 in our party, and we each ordered something different. Chicken Strips, Pizza, French Dip, Cheesburger, and Cobb Salad (if memory serves). Everyone enjoyed their meals, and the details really stood out: The beef for the French Dip was not overcooked, and the Au Jus was tasty; the cheeseburger, despite being grass-fed and lean (from Silvies Valley Ranch) was still juicy and tasty (!); and the fries were absolutely perfect, nice and crisp. The topper for several of us was the Huckleberry Shakes because it IS Eastern Oregon - we were all quite pleased. If you happen through for hunting season, or the Malhuer Refuge Bird Festival, or maybe you're heading down to check out the Steen's Mountains, you should definitely stop in for a repast. You might need to resist the urge to eat in John Day or Burns, depending on your direction of arrival, but you'll be glad you did!
