On our way back to Louisville from a cabin out east, we stopped by because we were starving. I almost regretted not getting the massive salad bar, but in the end glad I didn't and you will see why. Lucky for me I had some gluten pills on hand, because the buns they give you before your meal are SO GOOD!! That was it. It was literally all I could eat. But don't worry I did try the burger and special fries I had ordered and they are legit. I highly recommend their house sauce. It's really yummy. This was a 5 star review until I got home and saw how tiny the $8 piece of peanut butter pie is. Although they do have outdoor seating for anyone with dogs, it seemed like we would be an afterthought sitting there so we left the pups in the truck and went in to eat. They have lunch specials that are very reasonable. Hubby had the 8oz sirloin with a side and endless salad bar for $18. He was very happy with the steak (and everything else). I tasted the steak and it was nicely seasoned and cooked perfectly. I had a CFS with a baked potato and it was very good for $12. The portion was a decent amount but not overwhelming. We got fresh hot dinner rolls before the meal and they were like warm airy pillows. Very good. Our server Caitlyn was friendly and eager to please. And the place was very clean. So the restaurant itself is comforting. Even when it's busy you never feel encroached upon. The staff is friendly. The Legendary Salad Bar is well stocked and very worth the money. We stopped in here during our travels and boy was that a mistake. Despite very few diners, we had quite the wait for service. Once we received our food, we were served on dirty plates!! Also, we ordered the steak medium and received what appeared to be a md raw. Because of the wait, we cut it up and tried it and it was still cool to the touch on the inside! We finally got our waiters attention, who apologized for "spacing on us." We waited another 15 min for a replacement steak and they served us the same steak we originally had! They said they put it back on the grill...AFTER WE HAD ALREADY BIT OFF OF IT... WITH EVERYONE ELSES FOOD! I've never in my life experienced this before! We have dined from various restaurants, coast to coast, and have never been reserved a screwed up order! This less than appetizing experience left us $40 in the hole and still hungry. After a long hard day, we chose to stop for dinner a Cattleman's Roadhouse. Our server was a bright spot in our day. He was quick to refill water and was not slow to ask if a refill from the bar was needed. The food was served hot and was tasty. The salad bar was well stocked with the basics of a good salad. I ordered the 8 oz sirloin, medium well. It came to the table cooked well done. I didn't send it back because I did not want to wait for another steak to be cooked. With it being well done it was very dry, but still had lots of flavor. The rolls were not fresh and not even room temperature. Overall my meal was pretty sad. It will probably be the last time that I go to this steakhouse in Morehead. Our waitress Selina was very nice and efficient. read more

Wish I'd taken photos. I ordered the salad bar with the grilled chicken add on. I typically don't do anything buffet style but the salad bar was good. Fresh ingredients, clean and regularly refilled. The pot roast my husband ordered was fatty and inedible and too heavy with gravy. His soup appetizer came out with his meal which wasn't the end of the world but the service stunk. Our server Chloe was flippant yet slow. She was short and rushed when at our table and then nowhere to be seen. A table next to us that she was also serving spilled a drink which ran onto the floor. She stepped over it several times waiting on us but never bothered to clean it or the table itself. When a person that appeared to be a manager or supervisor stopped to clean it she said to him, "Oh what happened?" as if she had no idea. Minus one star for the food and minus one star for service. We were at Cattleman's Wednesday for dinner with some friends. We all enjoyed the food. I especially enjoyed the fresh salad bar. I'm very picky about eating at any kind of a buffet, but they stay on top of their salad bar. It was clean and had a nice variety. Now about our server, Lily B. There were six of us in our party. We stop here every time when we are traveling to our getaway. The salad bar is always well stocked and fresh! I asked for a medium rare steak and thats exactly what I got. We generally sit at the bar and the service is always fast and friendly. The atmosphere is always nice and they have plenty of flat screen tvs to watch you favorite sports team. My experience here was terrible. The only thing decent here was our waiter (service). The food was absolutely terrible, it was sad because I was very excited to go here since it was my first time. I ordered a BBQ Chicken Sandwich, next thing I know I was throwing up in their bathroom. The chicken was VERY tough, some parts were also raw, not to mention the prices were insanely outrageous . This place was truly awful the last few times I've gone. We used to go a few times a week. We may never go again. The food has been disgusting at least 3 times in a row. One time, the rolls and baked potato were raw. The steaks are almost always cooked wrong, don't have salt, or are completely cold. The potato is cold every single time. Had fries as a replacement and they were so greasy that they could not even be chewed. Some of the fruit on the salad bar was spoiled and leaked around the rest of the plate. Then the manager came out to tell us basically that she didn't see what the problem was because her baked potato that day had been so hot it almost burned her. The waitress was very nice but everyone else was rude. Awful experience and probably will never go back. We were going there several times a month at least but it has gone downhill, all the way to hell. Get a new manager and change the cooking or you will go out of business. read more

My Wife and I ate at the restaurant on a Sunday arriving at opening (11am) . By 11:30 there was waiting line only.The meal was spectacular and the service was also.My wife had the filet and I had the prime rib. The salad bar was full of great tidbits and really fresh. The manager (his restaurant was in Louisville) came by several times and we had quite the conversation. A very nice man. I visit Cattleman's often and really enjoy the place. I had dinner there tonight and everything was, in my opinion, not quite up to the fine standard that I know and enjoy. My biggest issue was the "special" chalkboard advertised Prime Rib. the server greeted us pleasantly, took out drink order and suggested an app. So far so good! Drink served and ready to order. I'll have the Prime Rib with a baked Sweet potato/ She replied "sorry sir we ran out of PR an hour ago. I had traveled 45 minutes just for the PR. Oh well. Should have taken the "special" signboard down about an hour ago. I replaced it with a Cowboy Ribeye that was extremely fatty. My wife got the steak strips that were overcooked and dry. I understand that every experience can't be perfect and will try again but wanted someone to know about this. The server had several large tables that sorta put her in the weeds and didn't give us much attention. I don't even think she checked shortly after food arrival to see if everything was alright. Like I said we'll try again but will think twice about driving there just for dinner. read more
