My Husband and I having been wanting to try this place BIG MISTAKE the service was horrible! And the food was ok, I totally get we are still in a pandemic but there were plenty of employees chit chatting around the bar walking around so it wasn't because they were short handed. I've driven by this place several times and have heard rave reviews about it. I was excited to finally get a chance to try it for the first time last night, but hate to say that I was completely disappointed. We went in as a large party of about 45 people. We were having a farewell get together for our boss. We had a reservations at least a month ago, so our menu was a set one. The dinner choices ranged from about $23 to $30. We had choices from filet mignon, New York steak, salmon, ribs, and chicken. All entrees included AYCE salad, beans, bread, a baked potato, and seasonal veggies. That was all fine due to our large party. We were seated in a private banquet room with about 7 tables. It surprised me that with that many people in one room, we had only 1 waitress who took our orders. Once again, understandable due to it being a busy Friday night. They probably couldn't spare more than 1 waitress. This made for slower service though. What disappointments me the most was the quality of our drinks. My boyfriend and I ordered 2 mixed drinks which were very weak. We could hardly taste the alcohol. They redeemed themselves on the second round because it was a bit better. Then, there's the food. Our whole entire table ordered steaks. All of them were over cooked. It was too much work to send them all back so, we ate them. Someone at our table also got the wrong cut of steak. He ordered a New York and got a filet. He did let the waitress know and she did eventually get his New York (cooked to medium rare as he ordered) but our table was almost done eating. I made reservations for a party of 5 for a birthday celebration and went in and was sat accordingly. It was kind of busy, it being a Saturday night, but nothing crazy. I also work in a high volumn restuarant so I know what it is like to be busy. We were seated for a few minutes before a server named Tati came over and took our drink order so we ordered a round of waters and a couple of cocktails. Our cocktails came out and the waters didnt. While we were waiting, the workers had set up a table for what looks like a large party was going to be put down behind us. I thought they were going to seat a large party there, because another worker had brought out 5 or 6 glasses of water and set them on that empty table. So, Tati comes back to take our order and I asked her about our waters. I mean there we were, physically seated and had no waters, but the empty table behind us, where there was no one, had each a water glass at their placemat. So she asked another server or host (Rudy) to get us some waters. He was also the one who seated us and ask if we were celebrating anything, to which i answered that it was a birthday and he even wished the birthday boy a happy birthday. Our appetizers came out but one, the Tri tip tacos. We waited and even forgot about ordering them, until my sister in law asked my brother about them. At this point, a different server came out and dropped the tacos off and said she'd be right back with our other appetizers. We were all confused by this point. We also asked her for water refills and that never happened either. We were all sucking our waters dry! As if our waters never came out at the beginning of the night, our refills didnt either. We had to ask a couple of servers for water. By this point, we haven't seen Tati for a while and Id asked another worker, (couldnt tell if he was another server, busser or host) where is our server Tati and he responded " oh, she is probably busy with other customers." I get it...servers have more than a few tables. On busier nights I can have up to 5 or 6 tables, but seeing how business was that night, she couldnt have been that busy. Even when I am so busy and running in circles, if I cant make it back to refill my guests' waters, I will ask my service partner, busser, hosts, even my managers to help refill them for me. We saw a younger woman, who looks to be either a manager in training or assistant, def not a server, walking around and just kind of skimming over the tables and continued to walk around and the left without table touching or anything. Unacceptable. Then our food comes out.....I'd ordered the sizzling Cattlemens Cut Prime Rib, medium rare. My sister in law ordered the Western Cut Prime Rib, medium rare, and my brother, (Tri tip tacos guy) who just happens to be the steak connoisseur, and chose this particular restuarant, orders the Porterhouse steak medium rare. Both my sister in law and my prime rib was NOT sizzling! Hers was cooked medium rare, mine was practically seared on the outside and thrown onto a plate, and the Porterhouse? All our steaks were just luke warm! The birthday guy ordered all the trimmings on the side and the onions came out looking really sad, and the mushrooms were cold. I was able to finally waved down a server and asked her if they can cook my steak just a little bit more, just medium rare like my sister in law's. She proceeded to tell me its because of the cut of my meat thats why it looks undercooked....Im sure my cut of prime rib is just the same cut as my sisiter in law's, just different by a couple of ounces. She ends up bringing a whole new prime rib to me on a regular dinner plate. I just ended up packing it to go. I also noticed that on our receipt, it says our server's name is Jaz. Now I dont know who is Jaz, because all I know was Tati started us off...noone ever said anything about going on her break and so and so is going to take over our table. Because that is what servers are suppose to do. I never just go on break and leave my tables, nor do I let a server go on break and I dont go over and introduce myself. Even just a small gester like this can highly impact a guest's dining experience. I dont think my expectations of service are so high that it is unattainable. We, servers, work for our tips, we work hard. I am disappointed that being a steakhouse, our steaks were just mediocre. I am super disappointed that there are servers who, just didnt care enough. I give credit where credit is due and my guests and I, who wanted to celebrate a special milestone, wasted our time in your establishment. I have already told my family and friends to not waste their time and money coming to dine at your restaurant. With the money we spent there that night plus our gas driving there from Fresno, was all just a waste. The food was delicious as always and the place wasn't very busy for a Sunday night. The service was horrible. First our party of eight were sat in a booth set for six. We asked to be moved to a table and told our waitress it was my grandsons 18th birthday. Ordered three appetizers, only two came out. Table was full of used salad and bread plates when our food arrived. Servers placed our entrees among the dirty dishes. We had to ask that they be removed. My granddaughter's entree didn't make it to the table and another waitstaff had to ask what she ordered. After 12 minutes they brought her an entree that was obviously meant for someone else as it had a baked potato with only bacon and cheese and she ordered fries. 8 minutes later the fries arrived. Drinks weren't refilled, had to ask for ketchup twice and then the bill was presented without a mention of the birthday. When I spoke to my coworkers about my experience, they also said how the service has really bottomed out at Cattleman's. It's a shame. read more

Yesterday was Mother's Day. Our family& friends go every year to Cattlemens for dinner. This year we had a group of 12 & reservation for 4:00. So far so good. Beverages were ordered..bread was delivered & orders taken. Our waitress went on break & that's when it all went downhill. All orders delivered except 3. Then 2 more delivered. I did not get my order till 5:30 & most of my party were done eating. I complained to mgr & when meal was delivered had them box it to go. Asked for more bread...never got it. I understand beans are served with meal...not at our table. I was told by several members of my group their dinner was cold. At this point I seriously am thinking of not returning in the future. We were heading from Sacramento to Lancaster and needed to eat. While driving I was Yelping and saw many steak locations, but when I saw Cattleman's I knew that was the place for a consistently good steak. I am so happy we stopped here. From the moment we walked in you knew it was going to be a great experience. The customer service is excellent! While waiting for a table we walked into the bar (which was packed) and was greeted by Harrison asking if he could get us anything while we wait. We got our drinks and then a table opened in the bar (my husbands favorite place to eat) and we sat down and within a minute Jovany and the nice young man he was training came and cleared the table quickly. Jessica was right there with menus and the most pleasant attitude. We received our bread and then ordered steaks of course. Our salad arrived and when we finished that our dinner was served. We were checked on throughout dinner, didn't have to wait for them to notice we were done, we paid and were on our way. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and the lobster I got was so flavorful! All the "accessories" were fresh and fabulous too! Hopefully you can tell by my review that the customer service and food is excellent. I must say the customer service exceeds that of the Rocklin and Roseville locations by my house. Small town hospitality, you can't beat it! Came back again and still the best hospitality around! I'm sad to say I left here very disappointed tonight because I usually look forward to going in. Walked in and sat immediately in the bar and a Busser came up and asked us what we wanted to drink right away. Took about ten minutes to order food. Fine. My server was probably a little busy, I know how it is as I am a server myself. As I sit there waiting I notice the other people walking in and out. Next thing I know there's two other tables (not including mine) left in the bar and one being a table that came in about 10 or so min after us. Was Compensated for the bill and was told they would make the steaks over and we can take them to go. I went here on my 10th anniversary for dinner with my husband. This Cattlemen's restaurant was excellent! Food was to die for! I can see why so many customers come here. We've been coming to this location for years now. In the past couple of years they've really went downhill. I ordered the 9oz prime rib as usual. Salad came and it was fine. Food came out not long after. I ordered the prime rib medium, what I got was a very over cooked piece of meat. It resembled beef jerky. The color was a nice grey. Went there after my brothers graduation couple weeks ago and I will never go there again. I've always liked this place and I go there every time but the two last times I been I've had the worst experience. One time I found a hair in my cup. But the last time I went out with my family and had reservations for 12 and all 12 dishes were cold except the sides. I'd driven by this restaurant for years so when we were wanting a steak dinner, we remembered Cattlemens. We arrived on a Saturday night at 6, and put our name in for a 15-20 minute wait. We sat in the bar, and were served cocktails right away. 10 minutes later we were seated in a quiet booth for 2. Everyone we'd encountered was so friendly and nice! We both ordered a bone-in ribeye. Went here on Wednesday for our anniversary. Didn't think I'd need a reservation for a Wednesday but it was pretty busy. They still got us a table in about 20 minutes so not bad. Service was great. Staff was friendly. My wife and I both got rib eyes. I got the 20oz bone in and she got the 14oz. I requested medium rare and she requested medium. Both were seasoned perfectly but were undercooked. I think the establishment has gone through some management changes... if this isn't the case then I am seriously worried about its future. I have visited this place on several occasions throughout the years; however, this time around I had a horrible experience. Their waiters kept pushing the liquor on us, and their drinks were really expensive. I mean, $8.00 for half size blended margarita is ridiculous and it didn't even taste like they put liquor into it. Our waitress was very inefficient didn't know who had ordered what. The bartenders were not communicating with the waiters and when they brought us the bill we all had jumbled orders with mismatched items from other members of our party. The food also was mediocre at best, it tasted bland and the portions were small compared to the price. I decided to address some issue with the manager of the steakhouse and she seemed not to care about our feedback or provide adequate resolution. She also kept making excuses for the staff and trying to justify their behavior. No ownership was taken here... I'm done with this place. Okay, so we waited, oh, I dunno, 6 or 10 months and decided... lets try again! I got a note after the last review to call the manager, but I resisted that... Where I DO fault them is that they could see that we were a pair, a couple, probably trying to get away from kids... and there we were. As it was, we had two different wait staff come by and apologize for the delay and a promise to "bring bread real soon." Finally, one waitperson arrived with bread and took drink orders... She had to lean in because of the noise. A few minutes later, another wait person came and brought bread. She noticed we had bread and asked, "you didn't have bread a few minutes ago, did you get bread?" why yes, we did we responded. Then the first waitperson returned and the two waitfolks began a passive aggressive argument over who was covering our table. Once it was decided, the second waitress eyed the bread and was much worried that we had too much bread. We kind of laughed as it was awkward and ridiculous, just DON'T argue in front of the guests and if you leave bread twice, so be it. We get our drinks and even with the restaurant with no wait, the service was slow, I believe it had to do with our waitperson ALSO waiting the party of 20... we did finally get our food. It was okay, not super memorable, she had a filet and I had a new york, twice baked and sweet potato... we decided against dessert because it was so loud, we just needed a noise break... Hey, it is a family place, I get that. But, if we go again (not sure about this) either we'll go with a slew of screaming infants and our less able parent friends or sit in the bar where there would be no kids when we are trying to get a night out without kids. The wait staff kind of reminded me of going to a high school FFA dinner where the kids serve you... they are sweet, but have had zero training in guest services and seem to feel powerless as to what to do.... the service just kind of happens. The food is pretty good here, the prices are too high for the level of service and the consideration. Oh well.
