We frequent Cattlemen's often and tonight was for a to go order. The entrees were cooked perfectly to order. We had Salmon and a Ribeye, the portions were ample and very tasty. This is a very busy location so if eating at the restaurant, do yourself a favor and make reservations. Just a great steakhouse! read more

Unfortunately, this has been a consistently bad experience over multiple visits in the past six months, and after giving it several chances, we won't be returning. On one visit, we made reservations, yet our table was not ready when we arrived. The restaurant was not busy, and there were empty booths available, many of which were dirty. We still waited about 10 minutes to be seated, which made no sense given the circumstances. Once seated, it took over 10 minutes for a server to even greet us, followed by another 10 minutes just to be offered drinks. After ordering water, we waited another 12 minutes for it to arrive -- and then the server disappeared again. The overall attitude from the staff was uncomfortable. Everyone seemed miserable and inconvenienced by basic requests, including simply placing our order. On the occasions we were there the "manager in black long steeved shirt was there but at the bar the entire time" on another occasion he was there and never once came to greete us just seemingly wandering around When our food finally arrived, both sides were wrong and cold. We never received the bread or the beans that come standard, and when we asked about them, the server appeared annoyed. We had ordered the couples dinner, yet multiple components were missing. The condition of the food was unacceptable: The baked potato looked old and unappetizing, as if it had been sitting for days on all occations ordered. The mashed potatoes were watery, soupy/starchy, honestly again cold and disgusting. Between the poor service, lack of attention, missing items, cold food, and overall unpleasant atmosphere, this experience did not match the price point or reputation of a steakhouse. We wanted to enjoy it, but after repeated disappointments, it's clear this location needs serious improvement all the way around. read more

Fresh vegetable salad and sourdough bread come with the main course. I got the Beef Ribs Full Rack which is huge with generous sides of French fries and ranch style beans. The two of us couldn't eat all of it in the restaurant so took it home and managed to finish everything on our third day in Selma. The prime rib steak was also big, well seasoned and perfectly paired with the sweet potato. The serving staff, Miss Dayna, if not mistaken, is nice and friendly. She did a wonderful job giving us what we needed to enjoy a good meal. It's not noisy inside and the western themed decor gives a casual, warm and inviting atmosphere to the steakhouse. They have tasty cocktails but we didn't order this time. The first time I was at Cattlemen's we had desserts and drinks which were all worth the price. read more

We drove to Selma from EXETER for happy hour! It did not disappoint! There was five adults and three children. The kids ordered from the kids menu. I ordered the Thursday night ribs chicken potato salad special. The other adults ordered the prime rib sandwich. The service was fast and friendly. The fireplace was lit nice and cozy. The girls had a few drinks. I had fresh decaffeinated coffee. The manager came over very nice. Asked us if we needed anything else the waitress very nice Alyssa we are very needy family and she brought us lots of refills, garlic butter, Parmesan cheese, extra plates, extra napkins to go boxes. Steak tacos were an interesting combination of flavors..(was like a greek, southern, american confusion). not something I would combine but not bad. Went for my wife's birthday. There was 6 of us in our group we had a reservation at 5 and it was on a Saturday. We were seated with in 15 minutes and it was packed. Server was friendly and answered our questions. We ordered a couple of appetizers calamari, artichoke dip they were both great. We all ordered different steaks and they were all great. We live a quarter mile from Texas Roadhouse but we make the 30 minute drive to Cattlemen's because we think it's way better. The atmosphere is similar but the food is higher quality. Their salad is excellent and their sourdough bread is amazing. As for the steaks, they never have disappointed. Always done perfectly and exquisite flavor. Ribs were a bit dry and over done but the bigger parts were ok. Potato was nice and salty and good but it's a potato how hard is that. Veg was veg nothing spectacular. Service is perfect no complaints at all. Am I driving out of the way to go to this place? Nah. If I'm hungry and in the area am I picking this place first? Nah. I'd eat there if it's free. They are ok! The food is just not worth the price, and the price is kind of low compared to other steakhouses. It's just not delicious. It's not very flavorful. I had filet mignon and it was a bit dry and no seasoning. Others at the table had ribeye which was quite thin. The mashed potatoes are thick and lumpy and dry. The cheesecake was still frozen with an awful crust. The best food item is their warm sourdough bread. The service was super slow. I can't recommend this restaurant. read more

I have been to cattlemen's several times. Every time I've gone I've been treated like a valued guest. I'm a big fan of their steaks, prime rib and love that their salad is always so fresh. I recently tried their new burger the Rodeo Burger, and oh my goodness it was delicious. Juicy perfectly cooked burger; the cheese, sautéed mushrooms and whiskey peppercorn sauce was so delicious and perfect. Seriously one of the best Burgers I've ever had. Always had great service and a special shoutout to server Elisa for taking care of us and the Kitchen Manager Nicolas who checked on us and made sure we were enjoying our food. Cattlemen's is a refreshing experience and the way they treat their guests is top notch. 100/10. read more

We went here for Mother's Day. My husband surprised me with dinner at this place. This was our first time here. He said that making reservations was easy and customer service was great! When we approached the entrance, the ladies were handing out roses for the mothers. That was a really nice gesture. The hosts in the front were friendly as well. We didn't have to wait too long. Our reservation was at 7:30 and we waited about 15 minutes before we got seated. A host showed us to our table which was in the way back. Which I didn't care for since we had to maneuver though traffic of staff coming in and out of the kitchen area. They were extremely busy that they weren't using caution. One server almost bumped into my daughter and I because he was moving way too fast. After getting seated, it takes a little while for our server to come to greet us. By the time she came to our table we were ready to order our drinks and food. We ordered some appetizers and our entree took a while before it reached us. Bread/butter and salad was served. So we kind of got full from that. When our food came, it wasn't as hot as like it but I didn't want to complain since my husband was treating us to a special dinner. I asked for medium rare. I definitely didn't get that... the server noticed when I was cutting my steak. She offered to get me a new one since it looked almost well done and it wasn't what I asked for. The flavor was good but just too cooked for me. The second steak that she brought out wasn't any better. There was literally no seasoning on it. It was slightly pink, almost well done too. So I'm guessing the cook that evening didn't know to make cook a medium rare steak... the vegetables were over cooked so they were mushy. My husband enjoyed his steak. He got it medium well and it tasted pretty good. He said his vegetables were mushy as well. Our server was ok for the most part, she checked on us twice, right after we got our appetizers and after we got our food. We didn't get any refills.. my daughter was missing silverware and my fork and knife were dirty... We wouldn't come back here again. It was quite disappointing. Cattlemens has really gone down hill. We always went to cattlemens since I was a young boy and it was good. Now it's really bad the meat is very poor quality and tastes weird like chemicals. The ribs are pretty good and the chicken wings and the potato wedges are pretty good. read more

This was a great place to eat until you can't get a hold of anyone to make reservations. We called "Abby" and left several voicemails about a week ago and into this upcoming week. Abby never called us back to tell us we couldn't get in and the manager David said the banquet rooms were taken. So Abby couldn't call and tell us. This is so disappointing and so much for trying to make plans early. I wouldn't eat here, they don't call you back for reservation confirmation, well they don't call you back at all. Yes they offered later times like 8 or 9 in the evening, but we called early enough to get a better time. Their customer service is terrible and Abby doesn't answer her voicemails during the work week like she indicates in her voicemail. We will celebrate elsewhere and not come back again. I have been going to Cattlemens for over 12 years. This was my first time going back since Covid and I can say with great certainty that I will not be returning anytime in the foreseeable future. For starters there was disappointment all around. The cleanliness of the restaurant itself was sub par; the utensils, the glasses, the plates, and the bathrooms were all needing some TLC. I took my family and my uncle from out of state and spent a little over $200 on dinner. Everyone had a different issue or concern with their food. I ordered the Ribeye dinner. The sides that come with all their meals were the best part of that night. The sourdough bread was collectively the best tasting part of everyones meal. Salad was average. I ordered my ribeye medium. It came out medium rare at best. The center of the meat was rare. The ribeye itself was extremely fatty. I had to cut away at least a 1/4 of the steak. I didn't even bother asking them to cook it more because our server was MIA most of the night. Please don't waste your time, or your hard earned money on a sub par establishment. Management needs to get a grasp on it and fix some problems. Quality control is not there. read more

The service was good, but who ever is running the kitchen should take a hard look at what is going on. Our dishes were dirty from the moment we sat down. I don't belive I've ever returned my dishes and cutlery at the same time other than a spoon or fork here and there and even that is unusual. When our new dishes were brought out those were also dirty and our cutlery still had some pieces of lettuce stuck to it. We tried their loaded potato soup and it was cold and bland, the steaks were luke warm and the sweet potato was ok. The whole experience was a huge disappointment. If you have the time and are curious to try other places out, please do that instead. The food and experience at this place is NOT worth the wait. read more

Went on valentines with my girlfriend. Got an appetizer and some drinks (barely touched our second round of drinks) then proceeded to wait a hour and a half before the food even came out. The family of four that got there after us got their food, ate, paid and left before we even got ours. The fried onion appetizer was good but it hurt our stomachs. We were offered bread three times after our initial first basket, the first time we said yes and never got it then the last two times we said no because we assumed the food was coming and we didn't wanna get to full. We ended up just taking the food to go. They compensated my burger but I still paid over 100 dollars to just sit in a tiny uncomfortable booth. The food was alright once we got home and ate but I was starving at that point so I just ate it. Really unfortunate because this was one of my girlfriends favorite places and she was super excited to show me. read more

The food the service and the ambience is good can be a little dirty at times, but I have noticed that there are nights where they are shortstaffed which problems can occur. There have been a few times where our orders have been messed up switched around or other tables have been served faster than ours, but I will say that I do always go with a big party. I'm never disappointed with ordering drinks from the bar. The bartenders know what they're doing and the food is usually very good but if someone asks for a well-done steak, that doesn't mean to be a smart ass and burn it, there's a difference between being burnt and being well done well done still has lots of juice. They can also work on keeping the outside area and parking lot and bathrooms a lot more cleaner other than that there's not really any complaints. If you want a good steak you'll get it here. When the cooks are On-point, the food comes out great fresh and still sizzling. I'm just very picky when it comes to cleanliness so that's why I gave it three stars. If it was a review on food alone it would've gotten 4 to 4 1/2 stars. read more
